The military forces of the Republic of Terrace under went a concept called integration. Where a lot of the various different branches of the military were integrated to help save money. The officer ranks were unified between the Navy and other branches.

Captain and Colonel are job definitions in the Republic of Terrace. A captain is the commanding officer of a ship in the navy. There can only be one captain on a ship. Likewise Colonel is the commanding officer of a regiment in the army or marines.
