《Cliche?》Chapter 21: Guardians of Order

Well, apparently there is a school disciplinary committee here. Well, that’s what they were called in the animes I watched back on earth. Here, they call themselves ‘Guardians of Order’, and I seem to have made mortal enemies of them. While the instructors never admonish me for accidents and the like, the Guardians swarm me with complaints, accusations, and threats.
Really, I didn’t mean to completely obliterate the storage room that was conveniently empty of any living persons… I just fell into a small depression at the fact that I died before the release of ‘Return of F’, and now I can’t see it. Following this depression, I got the idea in my head to try and emulate one of my favorite villain’s iconic moves, the Death Beam.
The problem with my own Death Beam, however, was that I still lacked control in my mana manipulation, although I had already been practicing for three months. Instead of a small purple beam firing from the tip of my finger, meant to pierce through the structure I chose as my target practice, a massive laser that seemed like an orbital precision strike surged forth, and the storage room was no more.
Basically, that was the last straw for the Guardians, and now they are getting in my way wherever I go, regardless of the teachers and other students, who fear me, warning them not to. Really, it’s beginning to get on my nerves, to the extent that I really may become the villain they think that they are fighting. Then again, I have always fantasized what it would be like to be a villain.
I was the type who would cheer on the villains, regardless of knowing they would lose. I guess I just empathized with the villain’s views and tribulations more often than not, where the hero just nonchalantly becomes almighty and smites the villain, regardless of his goals or aspirations.
There was a knock at my door. I was in my room, meditating in the attempt to gather each of the main elements of mana. So far, in the three months I have spent at this school, I have only acquired the primary element of earth. It was an earthy colored mana that was now a deep well within my body, alongside the dark mana and the primal mana.

It was difficult to absorb any amount of mana. In addition to absorbing it, to foster its stability, you had to… connect… with the element and conceptualize it’s meaning. This happens to be very difficult. The only reason I am doing this is because magic made with their element have ever greater potency and stability, for example, ice spears made of are flimsy and weak, and perhaps may dissipate mere moments after conceptualization. Spells of the opposite element cannot be made, such as creating fire with water mana.
Primal mana, however, is unique. Evidently, Primal mana is extremely rare, to the extent that there have only been three known individuals throughout the planet’s history to have ever possessed it in any quantity. These people were known as Primals, and even with so little of the primal mana at their disposal compared to me, they managed grand magical feats befitting of gods.
While I was meditating to acquire my second element, my mind had wandered. Now I am brought back to reality by that knock at the door. It came a second time as I stood, and upon reaching it, I hear a faint voice, “Primal Veloth, may I enter?”
It was Viridi. She referred to me as Primal, due to the primal mana within me. Her species, the nymph-like Divalei, were extremely sensitive to mana, and the greater and more varied mana elements one possessed, the greater the attraction the Divalei felt towards that person. Essentially, Viridi fell in love at first sight.
I unlocked the door and let the shy soft-spoken girl into my room. She promptly seated herself on the extravagant couch, next to the curled Kithran whom was sleeping cutely in the lap of the attractive Ladren woman who was drooling on her wings. These three were so incessant on being with me these past months, that I finally caved in and allowed them some… freedoms… around me.
“Was there something in particular you wanted, Viridi? I asked her softly, so as not to wake the others.
“Guardians…” She said in a whisper.
So they are coming to kick up another fuss huh? As I recall, they recently recruited Nilus into their ranks as well. Nilus was always looking for any way to compete against me directly after naming himself my ‘rival’... It was such a cliche idea, that I knocked him out on the spot.

“Haaahh…” I sighed in exasperation, “Wait here, I’ll deal with it.” After a previous scrap inside the noble dorms, the Guardians were forbidden from entering. This also meant that anyone in the Guardians who were residing in the dorms had to get new rooms in the other dorms, including Nilus, while I didn’t get so much as a slap on the wrist. It is clear that I am an object of favoritism. This also has the unfortunate result of a large number of fools joining the Guardians in their desire to defeat me for their own misbegotten reasons.
I exited the noble dorms to see a mob of demonic students loitering in front of the building. Upon sight of me, they took various battle stances and readied various spells, such as fireballs, ice spears, wind blades, and so on. The current leader of the Guardians, Perator, stepped forward. He was a massively built lion Kithran.
“Veloth!” He sneered at me, “Once more you desecrate these sacred grounds of knowledge for your ‘experiments’. You WILL answer for your crimes today!” Every time I listened to this guy, it sounded like a hero’s monologue.
“Haaaahh… What is it this time, Perator?”
“You will refer to me with respect! I am your senior AND a Guardian! Did you really think we wouldn’t notice? Every Guardian is missing an article of their underwear!”
“Well, clearly you haven’t actually noticed yet, KITTEN.” I antagonize him with what I discovered he absolutely hates being called.
“Grrrraaaoooaaaaar!” He roared at me furiously, but the meaning of my words seems to have taken his curiosity a level over his rage, “What do you mean?”
“Honestly, I had forgotten I set it into motion, but it seems to have been a successful experiment. So, without further adue,” I let out a high pitched whistle. The ground behind the mob began to rumble. A massive hand shot out, and an equally massive body kicked and clawed its way from beneath the surface of earth. It was a golem.
“Th-thats… How…?” Perator looked back aghast at the sight of the golem. It was made of many pieces of both male and female undergarments belonging to every Guardian. I had forgotten that I placed a rune spell on a pair of panties Sival snatched away from her room mate to spite her for joining the Guardians. After that, Sival stayed in the same room as Viridi and Hahnu, right next to mine. The rune spell I placed on it turned it into a little golem whose goal was to snatch the Guardian’s undergarments to make a part of its own body.
Vellum, as I named it, steadied itself. It towered at the size of a building. Were there so many Guardians? Or did Vellum take multiple undergarments from each Guardian? Regardless, it awaited my order, almost with an eager anticipation.
“Vellum, take care of the Guardians for me.” I granted Vellum motion. “Oh, Kitten, I suggest you fight back, otherwise it may accidently kill someone.” I told Perator in a mocking tone. It seemed somewhat poetic, the mighty Guardians being devastated by their own underwear…
“Graaaaooooaaaaar!” Perator roared and turned back to me, claws raised, and pounced. I was ready for this action however, and it appeared slow to me as well. I willed the earth between us to match the shape of Perator’s body. I swiftly carved a rune spell in a random position within its body, creating a golem. I chose a random spot for the rune because so long as the rune was not harmed, and as long as I had mana, the golem would rapidly repair itself with the element it was made of. I wonder How Vellum will repair itself?
The golem I just made stopped Perator in his tracks, as I made more and more copies of him.
“Fight your own battles, coward!” He roared in frustration.
“Says the one who brought a mob for one man.” I retorted, as my newly created golems jump into the fray, adding to the chaos.

Children of the Singularity (S4)
Even the end of the world had its beginnings. Most reminisce over comforts that seemed so common yesterday even though yesterday was so far away. It grew stronger with every scream, it’s corruption instilling absolute bedlam and madness. With the required elements all being present in that fateful year of 2012 the predator found it’s escape in those who became known as the Children of the Singularity. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Artwork by AlexAlexandrov (deviantart)Metro 2033.
