《How to get lost: a wanderers guide》Disappointment is disappointing

Hello again. Today was my first scheduled retun to Rendezvous Island.
I decided to name it that. Because thats what it is.
Well, as you'd expect, I got lost.
Luckily I stumbled across one of the islands I had lightly burnt and made statues on. So I managed to travel back along my singed trail.
I really need to figure out a way to find Rendezvous Island without getting lost.
...
...
...
I got nothing.
Oh well, I am sure it'll all work out!
I hope.
Please, let it all work out.
Anyway, when I got Rendezvous Island in sight I was excited to see smoke from fires on it. Excitement isn't quite the right word for it. I was almost giddy, forgetting the lingering aches and pains from yesterdays brutal battle with a horror from beyond. Focusing all my attention of those delicate fluffy strands of rising smoke.
'Maybe my friends are already there!' I thought, speeding way way up.
Nope.
Bunch of people who had fled the islands I had, very slightly, burnt. They had ran into each other and glommed together into a single big clump of people.
Then they happened to sail past Rendezvous Island and spotted my note. Not understanding what was written there they took it as a sign from the gods to stop and settle this island...
That was the story I managed to parse out of the stammering and sweating council of elders that led them now.
Well, maybe. I didn't understand their language after all. But they were very clear with their hand gestures and body language.
Suddenly completely drained of energy and emotion I waved them off, and walked slowly up to my cave at the peak. I was too tired to fly, and walking through the beautiful forests and fields of Rendezvous Island helped keep me from settling my attention on my twisting feelings of despair and fallen hope.
Ugh. The sun is still high. But my head has been killing me since that fight yesterday.
And I just... I just want to take refuge in sleep.
Just for a little while.
So, yeah.
Goodnight.
