《How to get lost: a wanderers guide》Manners are important

Hello again. Today was pretty quiet.
This morning I had three eggs and a large and delicious, though spiky, fruit for breakfast. I flew off onto the next island with hope for a reunion. All I found were some angry locals. Well, one very angry local. The rest were pretty tame, but he kind of made up for it in my opinion
The lead local or chief was a big heavyset man with very little clothing and lots of spittle when he yelled. Which he seemed to do a lot. I had wandered into the primitive grass hut village hoping to hear any sign or rumor that could lead me to my companions.
Things like whole villages or islands being flooded, or scorched, or everyone dying, or malicious pranking spirits. Y'know, the kinds of stuff my friends would do if unpleasantly surprised.
Instead I got a face full of spittle and unintelligible roaring from the chief. He got up in my face, pushed me around a little, smacked his subordinates, all while frothing and spitting in a rage.
Then he pointed his finger at my nose.
So I set him on fire.
I hate when people wave their fingers in my face. It's rude.
I mean, who knows where his fingers have even been, right? Not to mention, there I am, being very calm and polite. Trying not to ruffle any feathers. Just looking for news of my friends, and this fat moron goes and waves his stubby sausages in my face?!
Nuh-uh! No sir!
On reflection, in hindsight, I may have overreacted with the whole 'burning him to death' thing. But I am not as stable as I normally am ok? I am trying to keep it together, but when I am flying between islands my mind wanders, as it is prone to do, and I imagine my friends. Their bloated corpses battered and feeding fish as they drift on the ocean below me.

Everytime I just have a little freak out. Nothing serious or anything, I just lob a giant spear of superheated flame into the ocean below while screaming as loud as I can.
I find the explosions and pillars of steam behind me calming and soothing.
So, if I seem a little on edge, and overreact to the asinine antics of small men with big delusions then, forgive me. I am sorry. I am not myself right now.
Anyway, back to the first village this happened in.
After that all the others hit the deck and started moaning/singing/chanting(?) in unison. That freaked me right out, so I left them to their ululations and headed back into the sky. Leaving the weirdos with their charred, rude, and dead leader.
Over the island I went to plan B. Swooping low though the valleys and high above the peaks I cast balls of flame in my wake. Three times I swept the island, leaving little fires behind me. Nothing. If my friends had been on this island they would have responded somehow, probably at least by the second sweep. Which is why I went through three times. Just to be safe.
After that I flew to the highest point, and carefully melted the peak of the mountain. It takes some practise but I leave crude statues of the five of us, molded out of molten stone.
Leaving the smouldering island behind me I winged towards the next.
Try and get rumors from locals, roast rude leader, fire-bomb the island, make statues at highest point, rinse and repeat. interspersed with little freak outs. That was my day. I think I left six islands in a row all smoking and in some cases in full inferno. If my companions pass these islands they might recognize my handiwork, if not from the fires then at least from the statues. I signed the back of each statue with their name. On mine I just left the word 'me'.

Hopefully the locals chat like every other person I have ever met. If they don't find my handiwork themselves then at least they might hear word of my doings. Through the grapevine.
*sigh* Planning is hard. Especially when you never know if your plans will bear fruit.
Is it weird how the chiefs of every village I walked into were all loud and rude and burned? Do leaders typically arise from assholes?
If so, then I fear I will be burning more in the future.
I have a good feeling about tomorrow though. I am resting on a small island tonight, but before the sun went down I saw what appears to be a massive island on the horizon. With any luck there will be one or more of my friends on the large island, and at the very least it looks like an adventure.
It's hard to get really excited about adventure all on my own, but I think I will manage.
Dinner is a very large fish that leapt from the water at me when I was coming in for a landing. Judging from the way it is smelling over my fire I expect it will be delicious!
Goodnight.

{The Dragon Within} (Completed)
Meeting his fate at the hands of seven great heroes, the wicked drake now stands in Death's hall. Met with the Grim Reaper itself. Defeated and its pride broken, the drake doesn’t beg or grovel, it simply awaits judgement. It waits for the God of the afterlife to send it on its way, to either the heights of bliss and peace or where it knew it would be sent. The depths of agony and torture, the halls of Tartarus, the father of monsters. Grim looked up from its oaken desk and down at the creature that would have otherwise, if grown wiser and older, matched the reaper itself in power. Its faceless guise, hidden by a black hood and whirling shadows, it briefly stared at the drake. “You are unfit for the sky yet also too fit for the abyss,” Grim spoke, its voice a cracking whisper. “Your time came too soon, the actions you have taken will lead your world to ruin…Be reborn, pitiful serpent. Yet remember what you have done, see what your actions have made that realm into. Let me show you, how your greed and gluttony have warped such a wonderful place and time.” Grim raised its black-feathered pen towards the beast “Be reborn, as the weak pitiful creature you should have been born as. Take this both as a punishment and…a learning experience. For failure, can be the best teacher.” The drake took a step back, hoping to escape this cruel fate. Yet none escaped Death, less so its embodiment. Screaming shadows engulfed his form, ripping away at his body and shape. Fangs of darkness sinking deep into his draconic flesh, warping it, changing him into something else… Opening his eyes, the wicked drake felt none of its power, none of its magic and none of its might. As it stood at the edge of a cliff, looking down upon a ruined valley of rot and miasma. It glanced down at itself, seeing none of its sturdy scales or sharp claws. The drake had been reborn... As a Human. Will also be posting on CreativeNovels found here; CrN Where chapters will be posted earlier than RRL.

Chronicles of Xod (returning from hiatus)
After a long recovery over a chronic motion sickness issue, I feel I'm ready to return to writing this book. It might be slow at first, but I'm hoping to pick up where I left off. I apologize again for the long hiatus. The pages following are a true account. An account of how I, Josh--a teenage nerd from modern suburbia--ended up in a strange world filled with fantastic magic, bizarre creatures, and terrifying dungeons. Despite the troped-up fantasy feel of the world, this is hardly an ordinary tale. For one, don’t expect a happy ending. With the trials I’ve been through, the horrors I’ve seen and the atrocities I’ve committed, believe me when I tell you, this is not a happy tale filled with friendly rainbow bears or teenage flying unicorns. It’s more likely you’ll finish this book mentally scarred as I will not spare the details of my unfortunate adventures. With the help of my trusted companion Gui, I gain an insight that no one else in the world has. This knowledge allows me to exploit and, for lack of a better term, metagame the system which gave me a clear advantage over its residents. “With great power...,” someone might begin to quote to me. In my defense, I think maybe even you, reader, might have acted similarly with how this reality changed my view of good and evil. This story will be updated regularly on Wednesdays around 6 PM. There will only be about 1000 words per update. The focus is to finish the story before doing any major changes or editing. Please read as if this is a work in progress, not a finished product. Feel free to let me know if you see any error, whether glaring or minor. If you help me out, I'll be sure to add you to a thank you list at the front of the book when it is published. Chronicles of Xod is a first-person fantasy novel that follows the adventures of a young man from Earth. Through unknown circumstances, he finds himself in a fantasy world where life is not all wonders and happy endings. The story takes common fantasy concepts from my favorite video games, books and movies and gives them an adult edge. It also introduces some taboo concepts often glossed over by stories written for broad audiences. The style is meant to be immersive and heavily detailed. The short novel will be written in a way that attempts to bring a sense of realism to an unrealistic genre. Where there are realistic consequences and dangers in a world populated with violent monsters, cruel demons, bloodthirsty undead, and immoral bandits. In this fantasy world, the inhabitants are essentially gender blind as far as sexuality is concerned. There is also more variation amongst male and female physiology. This isn't meant to be any kind of promotion or demotion of social behavior in reality. Just a concept I thought would be an interesting idea to have in a fantasy setting. I highly discourage anyone from reading this material if you are personally concerned with being offended or traumatized. Both violent and sexual content will be graphically detailed. All characters involved in sexual scenes are mature and of the age of consent(18+).

The Weaver's Wrath
Millennia have passed since the end of the God Wars. Mankind's heroes of these wars, the powerful Luminescents, have since become the rulers of the lands, relying on their ancestors' deeds to fuel their own ambitions. The Church itself has fractured since the death of their Goddess. Now it has shifted its focus to a new power - the descendents of the men and women who had received her blessing in the past - the Luminescents. However, with the death of the Goddess Selene, their own abilities began to lessen in quality with each successive generation, leaving them grasping desperately at whatever they can; money, lands, power. Sevrath was born in a time far different than that of ages past. Much of the continent was under the rule of the powerful Luminescent rulers. The Gods were dead and gone; the age of man had begun. Only the Desolate Lands lay unconquered and resolute, a relic of the power of Deimos, the God of Death and Destruction. So when he is found near the borders of the Desolate Lands, what does it mean? Is he some spawn of demon, like many of the townsfolk of Carthal believe, or something else altogether? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This will not necessarily be something that is updated often. Book 1: The Weaver's Wrath Book 2: The Berserker's Burden Book 3: The Artificer's Absolution Book 4: The Guardian's Grace
