《How to get lost: a wanderers guide》Against the world

Hello again.Today was a dark day.

Literally. We barely waited for the sun to rise before charging into the storm wall. The calm seas and the raging waves were seperated unnaturally cleanly. One moment the sun was at our back and the waves were calm. The next the clouds had consumed the sun and we were swept aloft on angry crests.

At first I simply thought we could go blazing through no problem. I severely underestimated the size of the storm wall. When I ran out of tingles we were balanced precariously on the top of a massive crest. I molded oars and frantically rowed as fast as possible just to maintain our current position. Fighting the howling wind and pounding waves for every inch of progress.

We were taking on water. Lena was bailing it out as fast as she could. I had long lost all sense of direction. All I could do was row against the wind and crashing waves.

Julius was miserable and wet. I sealed him and Lena inside to keep them from being blown overboard and then it was just me. Against the world. I screamed futiley and rapidly molded the Ivers Dream into any form I thought might help make some headway. Spinning wheels of paddles. Bank upon bank of oar. Hundreds of human-like wooden ars sprouted from the bottom of the ship. All flailing wildly in an attempt to move just a little further.

When my attempts came up short I turned to nature for inspiration. I shaped my ship into a massive red sea slither. Sinuos wooden coils winding against the waves. The sleek finned form of a fish dove beneath the waves and fought the brutal currents.

Finally I recalled my oldest friend, Wrecker. Angry waves beat futilely at the solid red shell of the Ivers Dream as her firey fins swept us through the current. No matter how the wind and waves raged. No matter how the currents shifted and pulled. She was unaffected. Unfazed by the raging of nature. We swept out of the storm, and into the twinkling salute of thousands of stars over calm waters.

I collapsed atop the shell. Gazing at the beauty that is a clear night sky. Lena and Julius crept up and snuggled against me. Quickly passing into the lands of slumber. No doubt the little ones are as exhausted as I am. I have never felt more drained. It is torture to write this with my shaking and heavy arms but I know if I don't I will get no rest. This has become ritual.

I know why Wreckers form worked where the others failed. In my mind she is a being of power. An unflappable juggernaut unfazed by the worst in this world. This image of mine was carried and expressed into the tingles. Making them emulate her strength.

Thanks Wrecker. For being indomitable.

Goodnight.
