《How to get lost: a wanderers guide》The Wave Waker

Hello again. Today was... tumultuous.
First off I had to pack away my desire for another speedy spell aboard the newly named Mirage.
I think it is some kind of fancy hat. Lena insisted on it though, and I can't stand to see a little girl cry.
The reason I couldn't go blazing through the seas today is simple. We got eaten.
Sometime during the night some huge beast must have snuck up behind us and gobbled the Mirage up. From what I can see inside it eating ships is an old habit for this particular beastie. Shattered and rotted remnants of ships litter the greasy green ground. Slowly bubbling and melting into the muck on the floor.
The Mirage is fine. I woke up when we were getting gulped down the creatures throat, and managed to mold the tinglewood into a ball. Keeping us safe and dry. We did get rattled around rather badly though. Only by making a suspended nest in the middle of the hollow ball out of hammocks did I manage to keep Lena and Julius from bouncing off the walls, and potentially getting battered even worse.
No broken bones but a bruise or two on the noggin. Quite a rough way to start the day.
Once we stopped moving I opened up a crack in the ball. An examination of our position found us inside the guts of a monster. I was content to just wait this out. The tinglewood showed no signs of damage or wear, and we have plenty of food and drink. It is just a matter of time before we are 'released' if you know what I mean.
Julius though, he was hopping mad! With a shriek of rage and a thump of his feet he launched a very impressive firebolt through the debris around us and into the wall. Things started moving pretty quick after that.

The air itself ignited. Fire covered all in sight, and the great beasts guts began to tremble and undulate.
I hurriedly reformed the tinglewood into a ball. With a flash of inspiration I protruded barbed spikes from it in all directions. Time for payback, I'll show you for eating my ship!
The Mirage moved. Slowly at first but then with greater and greater force. We settled into crash formation. I held Lena and Lena held Julius. We wrapped ourselves in blankets amidst our safety hammock nest. Soon the Mirage started to really move! Roughly twenty or so massive bursts of speed and then the unmistakable sensation of flying followed by the shift into a free fall.
The impact when we met the water nearly sent us flying from our safety hammocks.
I peeled back a section of tinglewood in the direction that seemed up. Rain poured in and as I crawled out onto the reforming deck I could see the efficacy of the barbed spikes. Chunks of flesh speared onto them leaked a bright blue-green blood onto the red tinglewood deck. A look over the side showed the sea at storm. Massive waves swept by driving winds and pounding rain.
All of the was dwarfed by what I can only assume is the beast that ate us. Titanic coils of slick scaled muscle loomed over the waves. They rose and fell all around us. Whipping the waves into a frightening display of frothing madness. As they stirred and shook the sea I witnessed a massive head leaving the water. Obscured by the distance and the rain all I could make out was a massive gaping maw. A great roar shook the seas. I felt it in my bones before hearing it with my ears.
The knowledge that we had caused pain to a creature so decisively greater than us was quite unnerving. We were no larger than a scale or two on its great form.

Then the head dived and slowly the rest of the creature followed. As the massive lengths of scaled terror disappeared the waves and winds calmed. With the last of it gone beneath the waves the storm vanished like it had never existed in the first place.
I have decided to call this great beast the Wave Waker. I hope we never meet again.
The day was still new so we put this behind us and set sail again. Today Julius gets to decide which way we go. He proudly took post at the helm of the ship while I cooked some of the meat from the Wave Waker.
I found it disgusting. Slimy and bitter. But Lena is a fan. No accounting for taste I suppose. I collected the rest of it, if she likes it then there is no harm in serving it to her.
No pirates attacked today. Just sun and sea accompanied us on our way. Julius had spotted an interesting place to explore.
Off in the distance a great plume of smoke streaked the blue sky in gray. Julius and I are both excited to check it out. Where there is smoke, there is fun!
The sun fell on today and we set a course and had a late dinner beneath the clear night sky. Stars shine in the waves; filling the sea with glittering ephemeral jewels of light.
Aside from getting eaten, today was quite lovely.
Goodnight.

The Girl with Scales and a Sword
This is the story of a girl who ends up with scales and a sword. Yup. There you have it folks. Slice of Life is the key intended genre. This is literally going to be a running commentary of a girls life, especially as it relates to adventure and action This is going to be a continuous work, as I intend it to be a side project while I work on other books more decidedly, and I intend to rework chapters often, because I want this both to be a break from other titles, and a learning experience. I'm going to be trying to get a lot of people to comment on chapters so I can grow as a writer. So if you want to read, please do! and comment if you feel generous. Just keep in mind, releases will likely be veeeeery far apart. (Note: I try to put out a chapter a month, though that doesn't always happen depending on school, work, and generally how well I'm doing, energy-wise)
