《How to get lost: a wanderers guide》Focus.

Hello. Today I may have been too hasty.
As I woke up, disoriented and stiffnecked from the oddity of my sleeping posture. I came to ponder about some of my past actions.
I never really thought things through. I wandered aimlessly and responded to any problems with a brutal and efficient staightforwardness.
And that was all a symptom of my lack of a single trait.
Focus.
My thoughts scattered to the four winds faster than fire in a dry field.
I couldn't focus on a problem long enough to come up with a complicated scheme to surpass it. So I always took the fastest, simplest response.
I think of this now because when I awoke it was to find a ravager breathing on my face.
The sight of a large bipedal insect creature with massive blunt forearms, four razor sharp claw tipped claws protruding from the chest, and snapping mandibles knuckles from my face sent a burst of panic through my body.
So I slapped it.
My hand was coated in flames and those flames formed claws. Before, my fire could barely singe the chitin of these creatures. Now? I sliced through its head and deep into its chest cavity before I was even fully awake.
The gunk inside the poor monster boiled.
What happens when extreme heat meets a liquid in an enclosed space? Say, for example, the chest cavity of a murder bug.
Boom!
So I woke up to a bang and was dowsed in bug goo.
Quite a morning.
After my morning dose of massacre I had to plot my escape from the hole.
Taking inspiration from the little arms on the ravager I formed ten claws on a stick from fire and set them to digging me out.
They worked too well. I almost fell all the way back down to the distant stone of the crypt below. Only a hasty and ugly display of my newfound aerial prowess saved me from an even worse start, and end, to my day.

Flapping free of the crypt for, hopefully, the last time I took to the skies.
With nothing but sky and sun overhead I could finally see the lay of the land around me.
Mountains, forests, hills, rivers, swamps, tundras, plains, and even deserts. All crammed cheek to jowl in far to small a space.
Encircling all these diverse and nonsensical biomes was a vast wall. With the mountains forming a central hub and the wall making a wheel, the varied terrains made twisted spokes radiating outward in no clear pattern from the mountain to the wall.
I could see the burnt forests and the grand river as landmarks. And judging from how close they were this place was huge. Which only made that masssive wall even more impressive. From here it looked to be nearly as wide as it was tall, and it nearly reached the midpoint on the mountains.
Pretty impressive. I flew towards the wall as fast as I could.
As I got closer I could see tiny dots moving about on top of the wall. Emotions bubbled up like poorly roasted notnot. Excitement, fear, joy, worry, I was finally going to see people! I could finally get some answers! I could eat something besides burnt meat and wild plants!
But what if they didn't like me? what if they attacked me? It did seem farfetched that a flying fire man would be welcomed into their arms and kitchens. No matter, I thought, I'll just give it a go. Whats the worst that could happen?
That was about the time I flew into an invisible wall.
Lights flashed and sirens wailed as I plummeted from the sky. Disoriented and dizzied by my surprise concussion I barely managed to even out my fall.
Which is when I hit the sand dune. I guess I had made it over the desert before I hit whatever the heck that was.
The force of my fall had buried me deep into the sand, and I barely managed to dig out my head and shoulders before the sun started to fall.
So I wrote todays journal entry chest deep in a sand dune.
This is kinda thing is happening with distressing regularity.
No matter, I hope I didn't just ruin my chances with the wall folk.
Guess I'll find out tomorrow.
Goodnight.
