《Becket The Elf?》Chapter 51- Worlds Greatest Tailor

Note to the reader: *.......* means he's saying that in his head.

Rate and Review. ;)

I forgot to change his race last chapter, but it's fixed now. Also the high elf isn't an agility type so he didn't get an increase in that stat. My mothers surgery went well, but the cancer has already spread so she'll have to start chemo and radiation soon. I'm not very knowledgable about cancer so I don't know the difference between the two though. Anyway I'm gonna have to spend a lot of time working to make up for her not being able to work so that's why my releases may take longer; however, I will not be dropping this story. I just want to make sure everyone knows that.

Chapter 51

The inn wasn't as comfortable as Gene's place, but luckily I was able to sleep through the night. We only planned to spend one night here so we were ready to leave at any time. There was a large grassy area right behind the inn which I was currently using for meditation.

Becket:"Focus on your surroundings. Let your consciousness melt away and become one with nature."

I spoke to myself while trying to concentrate on the earth pulse. An idea came to me yesterday just as I was falling asleep so I decided to attempt it this morning. The dirt around me slightly shifted and an image came into my mind. It's hard to describe what I was seeing. I felt like I could see everything around me in great detail all at the same time. Even things outside of my field of vision became a part of this image in my head.

As my consciousness began to spread over the area around me it began to span out and increase its radius. I could feel my sense of the surroundings around my body growing larger. It felt like I had become the planet and just knew everything about the area I was in. When my consciousness spread to reach the inn, which was the closest building to me, I could tell exactly how many people were inside.

Becket:"Shit!"

An intense headache forced my consciousness out of my surroundings and back into my body.

Becket:"Damn it hurts!"

Both of my hands firmly gripped my head for about five minutes until the pain subsided. When relief finally engulfed my body, I collapsed backwards. The sky was vast and blue without a single cloud in sight.

Becket:"I guess I tried to push it too far."

I sighed at myself for not being cautious while testing a new power. Luckily there was no irreversible damage so it wasn't much of a problem this time.

Bram:"Becket."

Since my thoughts had drifted off, I failed to notice Bram walking up to me. He was obviously here because the horses were ready so I sat up.

Becket:"Bram, what do you think of this world?"

Bram's expression didn't change after hearing my question, but I could tell he was thinking it over.

Bram:"I like it."

He reached his hand out to me which I grabbed and pulled myself up.

Becket:"That was a simple answer."

He was taller than me so I had to looked up into his red eyes.

Bram:"Sometimes simplicity is the best option."

There was no real reason for my initial question so I let the subject drop here. We quickly made our way to the wagons where Carmilla was waiting. Like her brother I also had to look up to her brightly glowing red eyes.

*I need to get some lifts built into my boots. Being short just feels too weird.*

Even though I was a little taller now after becoming a high elf, most of the people around me were pretty tall to begin with. Carmilla and I climbed into the wagon while Bram sat up front like usual. The ride was just as boring and bumpy as always so I used this free time to begin sewing a new doll for Carmilla.

This one was based on Eva, and I tried to copy the dress she wore to the ball when the wyvern attacked. Instead of using the beads again I decided to stuff it with cotton. It would be better to use polyester fiberfill, but I didn't have any so I settled for what I had at hand.

Polyester didn't seem to be popular in this world even though it's wrinkle and stain resistant. Its dislike probably comes from the fact that it doesn't breathe nearly as well as cotton clothes. This wouldn't be a problem for the higher classes of society since looks are more important to them, but polyester is also a hard material to dye. The molecules of a normal dye are too large to soak into polyester fabric. It also has another problem which is its weakness against fire. The most commonly used magic among both humans and magical beasts is the fire element.

Becket:"Maybe I should make my own polyester."

Once I actually started to think about the details regarding the fabric I had in my mind, I realized how useful my nature powers were. I could easily grow everything I needed to create my own clothes. It wouldn't even take me more than a few seconds to grow the plants necessary. In my previous world I never needed to make everything from scratch so this might actually be an interesting experience. Of course I would need to get my hands on the plants I needed before I could grow them. A plant won't grow without first being planted.

I decided to think carefully before making polyester. Even though I personally like the fabric it's still troublesome when it comes to disposing of it. Most of the synthetic polyester and some of the natural polyester are not biodegradable. This world doesn't have many problems concerning environmental contamination, but that doesn't mean I can just casually pollute.

I had just finished stuffing the body and each of the limbs when the wagon came to a stop. We were still in the middle of nowhere so naturally I was curious why Bram decided to stop here.

Becket:"What's the problem?"

Bram looked back at me to answer my question.

Bram:"There are about 10 people waiting ahead of us."

I peered over his shoulder towards the dirt road, but didn't see anyone.

Becket:"They're hiding? Is it an ambush?"

Bram nodded to my words.

Carmilla:"You missed one. There's an archer stationed in the tree a little further down the road."

Carmilla joined our conversation and pointed out an eleventh man that Bram didn't notice. Since she had been helpful recently, I decided to reward her.

Becket:"You can have the archer. I'm sure you're dying to get some blood."

She may not require blood to live, but I knew she really enjoyed drinking it.

Bram:"She's already gone."

Bram quietly commented on Carmillas sudden disappearance. She was so eager to get some blood that she vanished immediately after getting my permission.

Becket:"You watch the wagon. I'd like to test out my sword."

I leapt off the wagon with my hand on the hilt of my weapon. My blood began pumping as I walked towards the ambush. The excitement in me was building up. This would be the first time I've gotten to use this sword.

Man 1:"So we were noticed."

About five men stepped out. They were hiding in the bushes and behind trees. There was a large boulder that seemed a little out of place where a man on top of a horse emerged from. He had a spear while the others were armed with swords and axes. The others remained in hiding without even making their presence known.

Becket:"Are you a knight?"

The man on the horse had silver armor on that I recognized as a knights uniform.

Knight:"I use to be."

I didn't expect him to answer, but nodded when he did.

Knight:"Leave behind all of your belongings and we'll let you pass."

*So they're bandits.*

Man 1:"But boss how can we let such a beauty go without having a little fun with her!"

The man that just spoke had an axe and his tone was loud as if he was proud of what he was saying. The knight looked toward me then back to the man that spoke.

Knight:"Fine, but don't expect any of the loot for this job."

The man smiled.

Man 1:"That's fine with me! You don't get the chance to see a beauty like this everyday!"

He stepped forward while scanning over my body with his eyes. I drew my sword which caused him to stop. The slight purple glow my blade gave off had an ominous look to it.

Man 1:"You're not going to hurt me are you little elf?"

He picked up his pace this time like he was trying to make up for the few steps he lost. The knight seemed to take interest in my sword.

Knight:"Wait!"

Before the knight even finished the word, I had already separated the axe mans head from his neck.

Becket:"Wow! There was no resistance at all."

I casually inspected my blade while the bandits were all just looking at me. It so easily sliced through his neck that I was a little surprised. With my inspection now over I dashed forward at the closest bandit and severed the hand holding his sword.

Man 2:"Aaaahhhhhhh!!"

He stumbled backwards gripping the stub where his hand use to be. My sword had already pierced through the heart of the next bandit instantly killing him.

Becket:"Its piercing and slashing power seems much higher than an average sword. Its performance is better than expected."

I praised my new sword while kicking the dead bandit off the end of the blade. An axe came flying down towards my skull so I parried it and slid my sword across the mans stomach. He lost his footing for a minute, but quickly balanced himself and took a few steps back.

Becket:"You dropped something."

I pointed downwards. Without even looking he seemed to realized and fell to one knee while releasing his axe in order to use his hands to prevent anymore intestines from spilling out of his stomach.

The last visible bandit besides the knight thought he had a chance since my back was facing him so he pounced. I spun to avoid his sword and slammed my swords hilt down onto his skull cracking it open. His brain was shaken so much that it killed him in one hit.

Becket:"What about you?"

I looked toward the knight still on horseback. His face showed clear anger.

Knight:"Scatter!"

The four bandits still in hiding finally showed themselves, but they were running away. The knight kicked his horse and it sped off into the forest.

Becket:"Carmilla! Finish these two off!"

I left the guy holding his intestines and the guy missing a hand to Carmilla then rushed toward the knight. His horse was fast, but I quickly caught up to him.

Becket:"I'll be borrowing your horse!"

He tried stabbing me with his spear so I shattered it and leapt onto the back of the horse. His reaction was too slow so I had already twisted his neck before he even realized. After I heard the snap, I shoved his body off the horse and took his seat.

Becket:"Alright lets test it!"

I activated my Dragoon class and used the ability [Rider] which allows me to perfectly control any mount. Even though I had no knowledge of how to ride a horse my body still swiftly guided it toward the other escaping bandits. They were slightly stronger than the first five I cut down, but not as good as the knight so the fight ended quickly.

Becket:"Why're you such a messy eater?"

When I got back, I found Carmilla mostly covered in blood. She was licking the blood off her fingers. Bram pulled up with the wagon and jumped off landing next to me.

Bram:"Should we collect their heads?"

I assumed we could probably turn their heads in somewhere for a little cash. There were bandit subjugation requests at the adventurers guild.

Becket:"No need. It would just be a hassle, and we already have plenty of money."

Bram nodded then walked over to his sister. I climbed off the horse and switched my class back to Mana Adept. Magicians were the people I was currently most wary against since I've never fought a strong one. Having an ability that allows me to redirect a magic attack handy could save my life someday so I liked using Mana Adept as my usual class.

I found out Ancient War Mage actually increased my mana supply more than Mana Adept, but the ability I got from it was attack based. I already had plenty of ways to attack so Mana Adept seemed more useful. Of course I'd really like to try out its attack; however, I'm worried about how much it will damage the area around me since it's an extremely powerful Area of Affect magic.

I'm more worried about two other classes. Demon King and Hero have multiple abilities, but for some reason they're covered in [????] so I can't read what they are or what they do. My stats also all turn into question marks including my health and mana. I tried testing my body with those classes equipped, but nothing seemed to be different. Something also disrupted my magic making it unusable so I couldn't test the depth of my mana supply.

Becket:"We gotta clean her up a little bit."

I pulled the pack off my back and reached in for a few jugs of water I stored in it. They washed off most of the blood on her so we got back on the wagon after clearing the path. The bandit corpses were thrown into the forest. The blood on my sword seemed to slid off so there was no need to clean it. I wanted to do some maintenance on the blade, but I just realized I have absolutely no idea how to.

I've only been using a sword for a few months now. It's possible I should treat it like I did my knives, but this weapon doesn't seem to me made of normal metal. It also has enchantments and a magic circle carved on it so any careless mistakes could ruin it.

Becket:"I should have asked Felicity about it."

She seemed to really enjoy talking about enchantments so she probably would have happily explained how to maintain this sword if I had just asked. All I could do was hope that either Bram or Carmilla knew something about weapon maintenance. For now I decided to finish the Eva doll.

*I wonder what I could make with the tailor class?*

As I thought about the ability the tailor class has, I realized there were many possibilities. The ability didn't seem like something a normal tailor would have. It would go well as an ability for a tailor, but wouldn't it make them want to change career paths? I mean tailors don't make very much unless they sell to nobles or rich merchants. Few can live lavishly in this world running a normal tailor shop after all.

Becket:"Actually, now that I think about it I'm probably the only one it this world with the tailor class."

I had forgotten that most people don't have a class. Even if you meet all the requirements for a class you still don't automatically get it. Only Hero ranked adventurers can activate a class with the approval of the guild. If a person was able to make it all the way up to Hero ranked then I doubt they would have any interest in becoming a tailor.

Becket:"Maybe I should aim to be the worlds greatest tailor?"
