For those that don't remember, Sasha is the beastgirl from that group of adventurers. She has a twin sister named Clara who attends a magic school. Sorry it took so long for this chapter to be released. I found out that my mother has breast cancer which she has apparently had for a few years without realizing. She set up a go fund me account and I'll be adding a link to it at the end of this chapter if anyone wants to donate.

Chapter 48

*****************Clara POV******************

I was eating my lunch alone once again. The tree I sat under shaded me from the suns rays and a cool breeze kept me comfortable. The other students were all eating in groups and talking happily in the lunch area, but I was currently isolated. This tree is on the edge of the campus so I'm unlikely to be disturbed.

Clara:"This food sucks."

Like usual I bought my food from one of the cheap stalls set up by locals trying to make money off the students. It was just a plain sandwich. This was how my lunch typically went so I just quickly ate the sandwich and waited for the break to end.

The fact that I'm of the beast race has kept me isolated ever since coming to this school. There are actually plenty of beast race students, but they are all in the warrior classes while I'm in mage classes.

I was one of the rare cases where someone from the beast race was born with high levels of inner mana. Because of my races natural magic we are usually born with very little mana, but as if to make up for that weakness we typically become very powerful warriors. My lack of skill as a warrior created a gap between me and the others of my race while my uniqueness as a mage of the beastman race has scared everyone in my class off.

I stood up and looked toward the academy. Its main building has five floors that are all filled with classrooms. Most of these classes are magic related since the warrior classes are usually hands on and take place outside.

Each building on the academy's campus has been painted with a layer of mana dispersing paint and the stones used to make the school are specially crafted to resist magic. The stones are black while the paint is clear which gives the school a glossy black look.

Vandalism is the one crime on campus that's not taken lightly. If you purposefully damage one of the buildings the school immediately kicks you out. Anyone not enrolled or working here aren't allowed on campus without special permission and someone is always assigned to supervise them.

The academy cost an unimaginable amount of money to build so even small acts of vandalism take a lot of money to repair. The warrior students are the ones this rule was made for since the mages can't even scratch the walls.

Clara:"Guess it's about time to get back."

It took a few seconds to dust my clothes off and begin walking back to class. The teacher lectured about magical theory while most of the class ignored him. This class was required, but only the students planning to research magic actually cared about it. Even though I wasn't planning on going into magical research I still quietly took notes.

Teacher:"Next weak we'll be starting on runes which are also commonly referred to as magical circles. Be sure to get your hands on a rune crafter before then."

Student 1:"Finally."

Student 2:"It's about time. This class has been completely useless so far."

Learning to draw runes usually begins about half way into the year and they are the reason why this class is required. The reason runes are taught in the magical theory class is because runes sometimes are easier if you understand the fundamentals of magic. Most mages are split on this subject. Some say learning magical theory first allows students to craft better runes while other mages claim it's all based on each individual students natural skill.

Teacher:"Class dismissed."

I swiftly left my desk and exited the classroom. Since the campus is so large it took me a while to reach the main gate and finally step out onto the main road. It was pretty packed with students trying to get home and even some teachers.

Just a few days ago I received the report from the adventurers guild. The request I put up to investigate Becket was finally completed. Finding information about him was apparently quite easy.

He was hired by on of the knight captains and began working as a healer at the palace. Not very long after starting he was accused of assaulting the princess, but that problem turned out to be some kind of misunderstanding which has already been worked out. The report continued to say that he challenged the princess's fiancé to a dual for the rights to marry her. Becket won and even claimed the fiancé's life.

Later his engagement to the princess was announced. During the ball where he made his first public appearance there was an attack by some of the nobles that didn't approve of the engagement. The attack began with the summoning of an ice wyvern. Becket was reported as the one who single handedly defeat it then he assisted with the siege of the churches within the capitol that had been won over by the nobles attempting this rebellion.

The last piece of information was that he registered a group in the adventurers guild with two vampires and then made some deal with the guild in order to instantly increase in rank from explorer to the highest rank of hero. This special treatment has left a lot of adventurers angry with him, but the job he took to reach the top required his team to massacre the goblin king and his army so this has kept everyone in check. He's currently living in the palace.

All of the information I was able to gather on him has only increased my wariness. People who have reached his level of strength are rarely kind and can even be extremely dangerous to get involved with. I know it would be best to keep as far away from him as possible, but a part of me truly wishes to meet him.

I'm afraid that if he appears in front of me I won't be able to deny him even if he's an unimaginably terrible person. Without ever meeting him I'm already completely in love with him, but that is what frightens me the most. I don't even know what kind of person he really is.

The crowd around the adventurers guild was just as packed as the one outside of my schools front gates. Most students pick up a request at the adventurers guild in order to train their magic or skill as a warrior. The guild allows nonmembers to take some requests, but they're all low ranking jobs so many students end up joining the guild in order to get more difficult missions.

Clara:"Sasha!"

I stuck my hand in the air and called out to my sister. When she heard my voice, she turned toward me and began making her way through the crowd. Like usual she used a cloak to cover herself. She's a bit shy so the cloak makes her feel more comfortable.

Sasha:"Sister."

Her voice was low and because of the hood I couldn't see her face very well. A hand stuck out if her cloak holding a piece of paper. I took it and gave it a read.

Clara:"This looks good. We need a few more things so we'll have to make a stop at a couple shops first."

Written on the paper was information regarding a massive subjugation request the guild put out. Since we were a little low on money we decided to join the subjugation request. It would be starting tomorrow, but everyone planning on participating had to gather at the base of Rivet Mountain tonight. Since we'll be camping out for about eight days, we need to get a few monster repellent stones, some food and other minor supplies so that we can sleep outside without worrying.

Clara:"Lets go."

It didn't take us long to get everything together and head towards the mountain. Many adventurers had already gathered and were setting up camp. The adventurers guild selected a representative, to organize and lead this large scale subjugation, named Zander. His rank within the guild is only Guardian, but he's still the highest ranked person here.

Zander:"Welcome fellow adventurers to this years monster hunt."

Zander had created a stage using earth magic and was currently addressing all of the adventurers. The faint luster his brown hair gave off and expensive looking clothes told everyone he came from a prosperous family. His blue cloak covered up most of his figure, but he took a few steps causing it to flutter and reveal a well trained body that couldn't be hidden with clothes. He was still thinner than your average warrior since he was obviously a mage.

Zander:"As you all should know by now the monsters on this mountain become very violent once every year so the adventurers guild puts up a request to subjugate them. Some of you may have participated in this event last year and are already familiar with the rules, but for those of you who are joining us this year I'll go over them for you."

Sasha and I stopped setting up our camping area and turned to listen since this was our first time joining the monster hunt. Zander had a bright smile on his face while he continued speaking.

Zander:"All of you will gather in front of me in the morning and I'll put you into groups. For the people already in a group I'll allow you to begin the hunt first thing in the morning. At least five people are required to make up one group."

I frowned and glanced at my sister. Since I'm here it should be fine, but usually she would avoid joining a group of strangers. If she doesn't have someone she trusts with her, she prefers being alone.

Zander:"My group will pass out maps for everyone once all of the teams have been formed. Certain spots have been marked in red and are considered extremely dangerous zones so it would be best if you avoid those areas. Other than that the only rules are to avoid conflict with other groups and be sure to collect proof of subjugation or else you won't get paid for the monsters you kill."

Zander clapped his hands together and beamed an even brighter smile to the crowd of adventurers.

Zander:"After eight days of hunting with your group we'll all gather here once again and leave the mountain. You'll be left behind if your late. I also advise you to refrain from staying an extra day since the more powerful monsters will begin to come out. These eight days are a grace period where the boss monsters hibernate. Fighting one is very dangerous so be sure to make it back here on time. The more experienced adventurers will begin their hunt once we leave."

When he finished talking, he leapt off the stage and walked away. He had his hands behind his back with a happy look on his face. It's obvious he's really enjoying his position as leader.

Sasha:"Sister."

Sasha called to me in order to get my attention. When I glanced back at her, she wasn't looking at me so I moved my gaze to the direction she was looking. Someone was making their way through the crowd of people headed in our direction.

Clara:"Who is it?"

I whispered to myself while waiting for the person to be revealed. A body finally stepped out of the crowd. It was a very beautiful woman. She had on a dark grey cloak, white shirt, grey pants, black boots and a black satchel. Even though her clothes were plain looking her beauty still made them look very fashionable. Her long green hair was so glossy and clean that it didn't fit her outfit. Her pair of emerald green eyes looked directly at me.

Clara:"An elf."

Her pointy ears easily revealed what her race was. Her bust size looked a little larger than mine and her height was also slightly more than my own.

Elf Girl:"Hello."

When she finally made it over to where we were standing, a beautiful smile greeted us.

Elf Girl:"My name is Ilyana."

Clara:"H-Hello, I'm Clara and this is my twin sister Sasha."

I was a little stunned at first so I stuttered, but quickly got myself to calm down. Ilyana made my heart skip a few beats. For a second I really thought she was Becket. Her face looks eerily similar. Sasha remained quiet.

Ilyana:"I noticed the two if you were alone and I was wondering if you'd like to form a group with me. We'll still need to find two more people though."

I didn't even hesitate before answering.

Clara:"Sure!"

A few races believe elves have a natural charm ability. The church tried to test the theory and after much research they announced that the elves have no such ability, but now I'm thinking it might be true.

Ilyana:"Thank you."

She took both of my hands into hers and happily thanked me with an exquisite smile. I couldn't stop myself from blushing.

*I-It must be because of that face! It really does remind me of Becket.*

Sasha:"Aren't you a pacifist Ilyana?"

After hearing what my sister said, my thoughts finally started to clear up.

Ilyana:"Yes, I'm a healer so I'll have to leave all the hard work to the two of you."

It wasn't until now that I realized she didn't have a weapon. This wasn't strange since elves normally don't carry weapons and try to avoid any type of confrontations. Most of the elves that leave their homeland work at the churches as healers or are employed as a healer for some rich merchant or noble. Your average elf would never come to this monster hunt.

Clara:"That's fine."

I could tell Sasha still had her guard up, but I just couldn't deny this girl. Did she look similar to Becket just because they are both elves? I'm sure Sasha couldn't trust her because of those similarities. We ended up taking her back to where we set up camp and she spent the night with us.

The base of the mountain was a comfortable temperature so when the fire went out no one cared to relight it. Also the monster repellent stones set up in a large circle around our camp allowed us a little assurance to sleep without worry. Both my sister and myself had bought a sleeping bag made from a carnivorous hare so they were fairly comfortable. They were cheap so both the top and bottom were open which I guess makes it not really a bag anymore.

Adventurers usually focus more on the defensive properties of their sleeping bags since you're the most vulnerable in your sleep so most of them are stiff and hard to properly rest in. The monster repellent stone we bought were also the cheapest so they can be broken by a powerful monster, but we're unlikely to run into any that strong.

I fell asleep easily while snuggled up in my mildly comfortable sleeping bag. Ilyana slept a few feet away from me and Sasha was another couple of feet on the other side of Ilyana. I woke up to the sensation of someone climbing into my sleeping bag from the opening at the bottom. Their hands were very small and delicate as they gently glided up my legs.

Clara:"Wh-What are you doing!"

I angrily whispered. It was easy to tell who it was since I just had to look to my side to see Ilyana wasn't there sleeping.

Ilyana:"I'm just thanking you for letting me group up with you."

Her voice sounded a little excited.

Ilyana:"Now be a good girl."

Clara:"Eeeehhhh!"

I covered my mouth to keep anymore sudden noises from escaping. Ilyana's hands were all over a very sensitive spot which caused me to squeal. Being of the beast race I was naturally strong with a lot of endurance, but I felt like I was melting in her hands after only a few minutes. That was a very long night.
