Chapter 39
When I returned to the palace Gideon had already started sending nobles home. Since some of their personal knights died during the wyvern attack we had to use palace knights to escort them back to their territory. The palace was quite empty now without the nobles and a large portion of the knights. Though once the nobles do get home the palace knights will immediately return.
Gideon:"Oh by the way mother should be getting back today."
Since things had calmed down I was about to head out when Gideon spoke to me.
Becket:"I thought she was gonna be gone for a while."
Gideon:"I received a message from her. She arrested some people and decided to immediately come back."
Becket:"How did it get here before she did?"
Gideon:"Well it wasn't a normal message. Mother sent me a message using aura magic."
Becket:"You can even send messages?"
*I was started to not feel so surprised every time I heard of a new use for aura magic.*
Gideon:"They're simple messages and she's the only one that I've seen able to do it."
I sighed.
*What can't she do?*
Aelisia must have been a prodigy or something. She has found more uses for aura magic than anyone else. Even with my recent boost in power I still doubted I could win against her.
I had a little time to myself so I went to the training field to practice with the wyvern arm. There was something I noticed during my fight with the mages. Sometimes the arm would move on it's own. During the fight I turned to throw a fireball at a mage and one of them actually tried to attack me with their staff which wouldn't have hurt. The arm moved on it's own and broke the staff in half then shoved itself into the mans gut.
The arm was useful since it can create and manipulate ice, but if it's sentient that could be a problem. Another issue was that the wyvern arm couldn't create a fireball. Before I lost my arm I could create fireballs on both hands, but now I can only do it with my normal arm. Likewise my normal arm can't create ice. It's not too much of a problem as long as I'm faster than my opponent since I would have plenty of time to twist my body.
Becket:"Well I better be getting back."
I was out in the training field and since the sun had set I figured it was time for bed. I stood up and faced the castle.
Aelisia:"Yo."
Becket:"Shit!"
My heart nearly leapt from my chest. Aelisia was standing right behind me. Most people can't sneak up on me so my guard was completely down.
Becket:"How long have you been there?"
Aelisia:"Hmmm.....10 minutes."
Becket:"Why were you just standing there for 10 minutes?"
Aelisia:"I wanted to watch what you were up to. I see you got a hair cut."
I reached up and felt my hair.
Becket:"Some of it got burnt so it had to be cut. So was there something you wanted?"
Aelisia:"I got you a gift."
She reached into her pocket and pulled something out.
Aelisia:"Here."
She tossed it over to me and I almost missed it since it was so small.
Becket:"A stud earring? Why'd you get me this?"

Aelisia:"I thought it'd look good on you."
Her smile seemed a little suspicious, but since she went through the trouble of getting something for me I decided to accept it.
Becket:"Thank you. It's a nice gift."
I was about to put it in my pocket when she stopped me.
Aelisia:"Put it on."
Becket:"My ear isn't pierced."
Aelisia:"Then pierce it."
Becket:"..."
Something seemed very suspicious.
*Why does she want me to wear it so badly?*
Aelisia:"I'll put it on for you."
Before I could even react it was already in my ear. What surprised me most was that she had easily done it. Since I have the thick skin magic from the wyvern it shouldn't have been so easy.
Aelisia:"You look great! Now don't take that off or I'll be angry."
Becket:"Yeah, I definitely don't want you angry."
I began to rub my ear because of the slight throbbing pain. Being an elf sucks when getting a piercing. My ears are extremely sensitive.
Aelisia:"My work here is done. Goodnight Becket."
She waved as she disappeared into the night.
Becket:"Is this earring cursed or something?"
I was a little worried, but I doubt she'd give me something cursed. It was getting dark so I made my way back to the palace. The security was pretty thin, but knowing Aelisia was back felt reassuring. At the gate I was met by a maid. I had seen a lot of this maid since she was assigned to handle all affairs regarding Aria and me.
Maid:"The queen would like to see you."
Becket:"Alright, take me to her."
The maid was acting strange as she lead me to the study. She kept glancing back at me. I felt like she wanted to say something, but she never did. After a walk filled with silence we eventually made it to the study.
Maid:"H-Here you are."
Becket:"Thank you."
She bowed as I passed her and entered the study. A shiver ran down my spine as I walked by her.
*That was a little strange. Did she just.......sniff me?*
The maid stood next to the door as I entered so obviously I had to pass her. She slightly bowed as I passed and I could have sworn she sniffed me.
*Maybe it was just my imagination. Hope I don't smell too bad.*
Becket:"You sent for me?"
Sylvia was filling out some paperwork and didn't even look up at me.
Sylvia:"Yes, Aelisia brought back the people responsible for starting today's rebellion. They haven't given up any information on their conspirators so we're going to send some people to investigate all the nobles that didn't show up to the ball."
Becket:"Does that mean you called me here because I'm being sent to investigate these nobles?"
Sylvia:"No. For now you are to remain here."
Becket:"Is that all you called me here to tell me?"
Sylvia:"Actually there is some unrest among the nobles now that knowledge of you has been officially released. None of them support you as Evalyns new fiancée."
Not being looked in the eye slightly annoyed me, but I ignored it. She was a very busy person after all.
Becket:"I don't remember ever becoming her fiancée."
Sylvia:"We both know your going to marry her. She told me everything. How is anyone suppose to object to a marriage blessed by the gods."

I sighed.
*Blessed by the gods huh.*
Becket:"From what I've learned elves aren't the kind of race usually chased after. They may be good looking, but they're not very tough so it's understandable that the nobles wouldn't want me in line as the next king."
*In fact I don't want to be the next king.*
Sylvia:"That sounds a little narcissistic."
Becket:"Just stating a fact. So what should we do?"
Sylvia:"I plan to make you into a Hero."
Now she looked up at me and when our eyes met she stopped talking and just stared at me. She previously had a serious expression, but after looking at me her face relaxed.
Becket:"You ok?"
Sylvia:"Y-Yes!"
Her voice seemed to raise an octave. It made her sound a little childish.
Becket:"How do you plan to make me a hero?"
Sylvia:"Hero? Oh yeah! I forgot for a second."
She smiled awkwardly.
Sylvia:"A-As I was saying."
She looked back down at her paperwork trying to escape my eyes.
Sylvia:"If we turn you into a hero the other nobles will be forced to accept you."
Becket:"Ok so how do I become a hero?"
Sylvia:"Slay the Goblin king."
Becket:"Goblin king? So Goblins exist here."
Sylvia:"Every year the goblin king attacks human settlements. They are born randomly so it's impossible to stop permanently unless all goblins are wiped out. Usually we send knights out to subjugate them, but this year a large number of knights have died."
*There were an awful lot of deaths. A few were by my hand.*
Sylvia:"I decided to hire adventurers for the subjugation, but if you go and complete it with one small team then the nobles will have no choice but to accept you."
Becket:"How exactly does killing goblins make me a hero?"
Sylvia:"When I spoke with the guild head he told me that my request probably wouldn't draw the attention of any hero ranked adventurers. That was when this idea hit me. Completing this quest will rank you all the way up in the adventurers guild."
*I forgot the top rank for adventurers was hero.*
Becket:"Why wouldn't it draw their attention?"
Sylvia:"Currently all the hero ranked adventurers are outside of the country. A supposedly safe route into the dark continent has opened up."
I was interested in the dark continent, but that was a matter for later. Right now I had another question.
Becket:"Then why would becoming a high ranking adventurer force the nobles to acknowledge me?"
Sylvia:"Reaching the rank of hero comes with perks."
Becket:"Perks?"
Sylvia:"The adventurers guild acquired an artifact back when they were first created. It can only be used on a person once, but it can drastically increase a persons power. It's a closely guarded secret so even I don't know what the artifact is. Because of it the guild gained a lot of political influence. The heroes are treated as their nobles."
Becket:"That explains why all the knights here aren't adventurers."
I looked down at the title stone on my wrist. This was very handy and I was wondering why everyone didn't have one. If all the knights were adventurers their loyalty would be in doubt.
Becket:"Wouldn't being a hero be worse for me? The nobles could claim I'm a spy for the guild."
Sylvia:"That's why you need to be a hero. No noble would risk a quarrel with one."
Becket:"That's fine I guess, but who's gonna be apart of my team."
Sylvia:"I've decided to let you pick the team that goes with you."
Becket:"Can I pick anyone?"
Sylvia:"As long as you make sure they register as adventurers. I've already set it up with the guild leader since usually an adventurer ranked at the bottom like you wouldn't get this job."
Becket:"I'll make sure everyone's registered tomorrow."
I had already decided on my party members.
Sylvia:"There's one more thing I'd like to talk about."
I thought we had come to the end of our conversation, but she now looked up at me.
Sylvia:"Come with me."
She stood up and walked by me. I followed after her and noticed she would tremble slightly when I got close to her. Was it fear? It took me a few minutes to realize we were headed towards the royal bedroom. I was on alert. Sylvia seemed nervous and I wasn't sure why.
*Why are we going to her bedroom?*
There was always the obvious reason, but I didn't see why she would suddenly invite me back to her room when I am supposedly engaged to her daughter. I just couldn't imagine Sylvia as that kind of mother.
She entered the room first and when I closed the door she jumped me. I was pushed into the door while she drove her tongue down my throat. I grabbed her shoulders and pulled our lips apart.
Becket:"What are you doing?"
Sylvia:"I don't know why, but I just can't bear it any longer."
Becket:"Don't you want me to marry your daughter?"
She was struggling to get to me, but I held her at a distance.
Sylvia:"You can still marry her. It's not like you're planning to be monogamous."
She was right. The gods definitely didn't want me to be monogamous.
Becket:"One question then have you ever had any dreams about me?"
Sylvia:"I don't think so?"
I shrugged.
*Guess it's fine.*
I was given free range to sleep with whoever I wanted and since she decided this of her own free will I might as well enjoy it. I carried her over to the bed and gently placed her down. Her clothes had already been thrown to the side before I even had a chance to remove my shirt. You can learn a lot about a person through sex. The first thing I learned was that Sylvia was not a submissive partner. She liked being in control.
Her skin was soft and her limbs were delicate. She didn't have any muscle so her body was soft. My strength had increased so I used very little force. A faint smell of perfume and clean bed sheets entered my nostrils. The perfume was light and flowery so I rather enjoyed it.
The two of us were so absorbed in the fun that we didn't notice someone entering the room. The bed also had a curtain around it so Sylvia probably wouldn't have noticed anyway. My hearing was what I used to tell if a person was sneaking up on me, but right now all I could hear was Sylvia. I suddenly felt my arm shoot out and grab something on the other side of the curtain then pull it into the bed.
Eva:"Becket?"
Becket:"Eva?"
We just stared at each other and even Sylvia froze. It was awkward since Sylvia and I were in the middle of round two. Eva didn't even glance over at her mother and just continued to look into my eyes. I didn't expect what happened next. She began kissing me.
Sylvia started up again since we weren't finished and Eva pulled off her sleeping clothes. I wasn't sure why she came in here dressed so lightly, but right now I was thankful for. She was the opposite of her mother and acted completely submissive to me. Having two women at the same time was harder than I thought.
It wasn't my intention to sleep with Eva, but in that kind of situation I wasn't exactly thinking with the right brain. Luckily I had much more stamina thanks to the wyvern so I could probably add a few more girls and still be fine.
That night went down in my top ten.

What was it that brought her back? Only time will tell. #Author's Note The novel is organized like this:Regular Chapters (Act, Title, Part (ranging from 1 to 9))Draft Chapter DisclaimerDraft Chapters (Entry Number, Perspective, Title, Part (ranging from i to ii)) Regular chapters are edited chapters that reflect the story aspect more while Draft chapters reflect plot progression more. An occasional interactive chapter will appear in the drafts but nowhere in the regular chapters. Expect changes when reading between Regular and Draft chapters as some events in the story may change in length or entirely removed/changed. Only read the draft version if you want a future view and/or opinion on the story and design elements. The main character is a human from a fantasy world reincarnated as a devil. The story possesses Reincarnators, Transmigrators, and Summoned Persons. though mainly focusing on Magic and other abilities such as Aura and Skills. Wizards (those who prepare arcane spells) and Mages (those who use elemental magic) are separate but seen as the same by common inhabitants of the world but clearly defined as different by more influential persons and by the circles themselves. The main character WILL not be a Mage or Wizard but will incorporate mana into her attacks to aid her as does any high-rank combatants. The system in the novel quantifies a person's abilities and keeps record of them but does not define natural ability, occasionally granting special abilities as skills to a person once prerequisites are met. There is no leveling system and no occupational systems in the novel featuring only a stat based and skill based system. Also, this novel is my first and will most likely be trash.
