Chapter 2
Aria:"Becket sounds like a nice name. Thanks for saving me."
Becket:"I was wondering. What are you?"
She tilted her head to the side and looked at me.
Aria:"I'm a fairy. Can't you tell."
Becket:"Fairies don't exist."
Aria:"Of course we do. Just because we separate ourselves from the other races that doesn't mean we don't exist."
Becket:"Could you tell me where I am?"
Aria:"We're somewhere in Druusell."
Becket:"Druusell? I've never heard of it."
Aria:"Druusell is the name of the human continent."
I was starting to understand that this wasn't the world I was from. It seemed like a fantasy world.
Aria:"I can't believe I found an elf that's willing to kill!"
I could see her grinning very wickedly.
*So this body really is an elf.*
Aria:"All the elves I've ever heard of were just a bunch of pussies that always use their speed to escape from danger."
Becket:"Well I'm not like other elves."
I walked over to the men's corpses and began to search them. I found coins and a map. They each had a canteen so I took one over to Aria.
Becket:"You need to wash that blood off."
Aria landed on the ground and stretched her arms out towards me.
Aria:"Pour it on me!"
I turned the canteen upside down and watched the water fall out and onto Aria. I was surprised that the blood didn't stain her dress and when the water stopped all the blood was washed off. She shook her head attempting to dry her hair then looked up at me with a smile.
Aria:"Thanks!"
Becket:"So why were those men keeping you in a cage?"
Aria:"Because they wanted to sell me into slavery. Wasn't that obvious?"
Becket:"They mentioned you were very expensive. I'd like to know why."
Aria:"Don't you know about fairies?"
Becket:"Sorry but I have amnesia. I don't remember anything about this world."
Aria:"Hahahah! Sucks for you!"
Becket:"Yeah it really sucks."

Aria:"Well what do you know?"
Becket:"I don't remember much. I had no idea fairies existed until I saw you so what makes you so expensive."
Aria:"You saved me and I get the feeling I can trust you so I'll tell you. It's the magic of our race."
Becket:"Magic? I don't remember anything about magic?"
Aria sighed and began to explain things to me.
Aria:"Every race has it's own magic that other races can't use. Humans are the only ones not born with a specific magic. The fairy clan has always been weak, but we can give other races great power so our kind are often forced into slavery."
Becket:"You can give other people great power?"
Aria:"Yes. Fairy magic is called Blessings. Each fairy can bless up to five people in their lifetime and each person they bless gains a unique magic. The other races started to kidnap fairies and force them to use their blessings so our numbers began to dwindle. Most fairies were killed after they used up all five blessings and we were left with one fairy clan. In order to save our race we went into hiding and stayed their for many centuries."
She had a slightly sad look on her face as she explained it to me.
Aria:"This is all common knowledge."
Becket:"Well I seem to have forgotten common knowledge. I was wondering if you could tell me about these other races?"
I decided to first try and learn everything I can about this world.
Aria:"Well there are more races than I can count, but there are seven races that hold most of the power on the seven continents. Starting from the most powerful there's Dragon race, Vampire race, Werewolf race, human race, beastman race, dwarven race and elf race."
Becket:"Why are the elves at the bottom?"
Aria:"Because they're peace loving tree huggers."
*Hippies?*
Aria:"They refuse to kill living things. They won't even eat plants because of their 'all life is precious' bullshit. They survive off of consuming their own crystallized mana which mutated their race. Originally elves were just like humans. After eating mana crystals the elves gained senses and agility on par with a beastman and they heal faster than most races except vampires and werewolves."

Becket:"So that was why he was surprised."
I was thinking to myself about how surprised the king looked when I fought back.
Aria:"The elves are the only race that can crystallize their mana. Some of the other races tried consuming the mana crystals, but died from mana poisoning. The elves aren't perfect though. Sometimes one of them strays from their normal behavior and is open to killing."
Since I was an elf now I was interested in what magic my race had.
Becket:"You said each race has it's own magic so what kind of magic does an elf have."
Aria:"Nature magic."
Becket:"What exactly can that do?"
Aria:"Controlling plants is the most common form. Elves are also the only race that can use the healing spells. That's the only reason elves haven't been wiped out."
Becket:"How do I cast a spell?"
Aria:"You have to first learn how to channel mana and memorize the chant. The chants aren't too hard to remember, but channeling and maintaining control over mana is the hard part. Your races magic should be something you know instinctually though."
I sighed. I was hoping that I could learn some easy magic. If I'm in a fantasy world than I'll definitely need magic. Learning how to heal would be useful in a fight.
Becket:"How do you use your magic?"
Aria:"Like I said the magic thats race specific is instinctual. Fairies can bless people from the moment we reach maturity. The four elemental magics are the only magics that can be used by any race though."
My ears perked up.
Becket:"The four elemental magics?"
Aria:"Yeah fire, water, air and earth manipulation. The four basic magics are the only kind of magic that all races can use if they learn how."
Becket:"So if I learn the chants I can use the four basic magics?"
Aria:"Yeah and I can't teach you since it would be annoying and I only know a little wind magic. It's not easy to learn."
*I think I'm going to have a lot of fun in this world.*
I made a mental note to learn more about elemental magic, but right now I wanted to get out of this forest.
Becket:"How about we get out of here. I'm tired of being around these corpses."
I pointed at the three dead men behind me with my thumb.
Aria:"Sure! Lets go!"
Aria flew off into the air above the trees and looked around. I could tell she spotted the town and flew back down.
Aria:"There's a town that way follow me!"
She zoomed off before I could say anything so I chased after her. I decided to take a look at the map I got from those three guys. It was a map of a forest that showed paths a traveler should take, but I wasn't even sure if it was a map of this forest. I decide to talk while we made our way to town.
Becket:"Hey if the fairy clan has been hidden for centuries how were you captured?"
Aria:"Well I'm in line to be the next fairy queen so it's my responsibility to study the outside world and other races in case that knowledge is needed during my rule. I was tired of all the studying and wanted to see new places and different races with my own eyes so I snuck out. Sadly those three guys were the first people I met."
Becket:"Do you know how to get home?"
Aria:"Nope."
I honestly felt a little bad for her. Their clan always had to hide and the one time she decides to sneak away she's kidnapped.
Becket:"Surely they'll send someone to find you."
Aria:"I guess so. I have no idea what they'll do. Our clan hasn't had any interactions with other races in a long time so there are few fairies still alive that have even met a different race. I've only ever seen pictures of the other races until now."
Becket:"You said only a few fairies have met other races?"
Aria:"There's a group of fairies that collect information on the outside world. The queen has to be knowledgable about the outside world which can change really fast so we have to update our information."
Becket:"Is it ok to tell me all this?"
Aria:"It's fine. You're the first person from another race I've met that I can really talk to. Plus this is the first time that all the studying I did has been useful."

Hy'Ruh-Ha is a what I consider a chronicle fantasy. It is a fantasy drama coming of age story inspired by slice-of-life stories I've read and watched.
