《Greenskin》Chapter 35 - Mission Implausible

The goblin followed carefully after his blighted brethren, watching on as they dragged the humans on and on through the woods, occasionally, a piece of armour would snag on a root or rock, or perhaps a lock of blonde hair would get tangled over a stone, or in a particularly low, barbed plant.
Naturally, their great goblin intellect gave the filthy goblins (which Steal quietly decided to call The Wretched) a wonderful solution to freeing their prey from getting snagged. They merely pulled and pulled until something came free, if they cared about the chunk of blonde hair they tore from Kelvin's scalp in a bloodied clump whilst utilising their amazing method, they certainly didn't show it.
Steal would have lost them long ago, their pale, green skin and naked bodies seemed to blend in with the undergrowth, though the trail of blood left behind by Kor'Ak's bloodied armor and Kelvin's crimson-stained scalp on the forest floor made certain that whenever he lost sight of the the Wretched, he could soon find his way back.
Steal looked over their camouflaged, nude bodies, then looked back at himself. Sure, his skin was a little darker, but his cloth and gauntlet stuck out from the foliage far too much, he snapped the leather straps of his bracer off with his teeth, then dropped his clothes, deciding to only keep the dagger strapped to his side.
His hard soles pressed into the dirt as he bent low, the Wretched seemed to chatter amongst themselves on a number of things, often speaking of their poxmother and how their humans would make her happy. They'd often stumble on the ground and pop one of their puss-filled postules; they were rather clumsy, and didn't seem to care about being sneaky in the slightest, nor did they seem wary of anyone following them.

Lucky for Steal.
As Steal followed along after the Wretched, he felt something in his mind, it wasn't visible, but he could picture it with ease.

With Steal trying to stalk along and keep track of the Wretched, he knew what would help him in the short-term, with long-term benefits being something that the goblin didn't consider, or ever think would matter.
New Skill Gained: Target Locked
His eyes narrowed as he focused on Kor'Ak.
Target Locked
A thin, white outline covered Kor'Ak's body, fitting neatly between the grooves in his armour and contours of his face. It would seem that the Wretched couldn't see it, as they didn't react to one of their captives being smothered in white.

Steal crept after them, as they rounded an excessively thick tree he saw his newly acquired skill in action, as Kor'Ak's body passed behind the tree, his thin, white outline could be seen clearly though the wood by Steal.
The skill already seemed certainly useful, though admittedly not as impactful as the spells that had been thrown at him in his early hours, or th sentient battering ram that Kor'Ak had became whilst fighting the fire-spitting scaly thing from earlier.
Still, useful nonetheless.
Nearly half an hour of constant tracking and stalking passed as the goblin creeped along through the woods after his bumbling brothers. He'd pondered the idea of attacking them, but Steal wasn't a good fighter, and he was far too outnumbered, besides, each of them carried masks that hid the majority of their faces, he didn't know if that served as some sort of armor to protect their heads either, and the shit-painted knives and spears they carried looked brutal and deadly.
The only thing he had over them was his swift movements, slightly smaller build, and, possibly, his intelligence.
They finally came to a slow at the mouth of a cave, hidden by long lengths of moss and creeping vines. For the briefest of moments, Steal though he saw a blood-shot eye form within the vines, and then meld away.
A trick of the slowly diminishing light perhaps, a goblin like Steal could see well in the dark, though there was certainly a notable difference as the leafy canopy thickened the deeper they had pressed into the woods.
The Wretched split slightly. a few moved forwards and pulled the vines apart, whilst the rest began to drag their captives down into the shadowy cave entrance, he watched on as their bodies vanished into the darkness and rounded a corner in the cave. In that darkness, even Steal couldn't see well, barely able to make out the filthy warts and sacks of pus that decorated the Wretched. He honestly couldn't tell the difference between them and a regular goblin when they were shrouded in the darkness.
Steal paused.
He had an idea. Though it was almost certainly going to end in red tears.

A group of people dies in a plane crash, but their souls are snatched away by an entity called the Highest One, that wants to make them the gods of a new world in order to guide and control its population. One of the passengers, Viktor, protests this, saying that the people of the new world should be entitled to find their own path in life without immortal beings ruling over them. The Highest One then ask Viktor if he really has that much faith in humanity, and after Viktor answer positively he made him into the God of Hell, tasked with redeeming the souls of the damned, as a way to test Viktor's faith in humanity... EDIT: I'm reworking this novel a bit, changing the first chapters from the "screenplay" form to standard prose. I should be done and start a shedule of one chapter per week at the end of february.

Economicalopoly
Humanity had gotten this far. How far, might you be wondering? Quite far indeed. The world had effectively become an ecumenopolis, almost; not in real life at least, in Economicalopoly of course! More on that later, in our story the main character is Charlie. Charlie was an exceptionally talented young man, the key word being 'was'. He was an incredibly unmotivated individual who generally steered clear from other 'Homo sapiens' as he put it. This was all because of an accident he had early on in life, when he was but 15 years old.
