《Greenskin》Chapter 0 - The Spawning Pool

Steal felt his body crash into the stone as he fell. The creature felt around in the darkness, blinking his eyes as they acclimated to the light.
Where was he?
His clawed hands scraped on the stone, he slammed his other palm down.
SPLASH
A spray of cold liquid struck the side of his face, droplets hitting his eyes and forcing him to blink again as the darkness around him came into focus. Mere shadows of darker blacks in the distance became clearer to him the longer he looked around. Black blurs became stones that jutted from the ground or hung from the ceiling above him, the endless darkness ahead of him shrank until he found himself in a narrow cave, devoid of any light.
Something shifted at the corner of his sight, then something else. The unfocused blurs moved slowly in front of him, they were vaguely humanoid, short and stumpy, two legs, two arms and a large head, all attached to a somewhat pot-bellied but spindly body. Some crawled, others stumbled awkwardly. Steal had the same sensation as he tried to mimic the others actions. His hands pressed against the cold stone below him as he brought himself to his knees, he steadily hoisted himself up, knees buckling as he stood to his full height, the rough soles of his feet finding grip on the floor.
He grumbled as he took a step forward, intent to bring himself closer to the shifting silhouettes before him. Another step. His foot met a warm, slimy ichor, not expecting this, he slipped back, unceremoniously crashing against the ground, bareback striking the jagged floor.
You Have Suffered 1 Damage.
With a snarling outburst, Steal forced himself back to his feet, steps lighter, strides smaller this time. The world lightened to hues of dull grey around him as Steal stepped forwards, finding himself ever closer to the figures ahead as they came into more detail.

Suddenly, the greyness was stabbed with flashes of colour, the roaring of a flame reaching his ears as he caught a glint of wavering orange light ahead of him. It brought the silhouttes ahead of him into greater focus, he saw them in colour now, tinted by the dim orange flame that brightened ever so slightly with every few seconds. Mottled green skin, reflected slightly by thick globs of snot-coloured slime that slopped from their bodies, rolling down their shoulder and falling through the cold air, slapping dully into the cold stone. Steal moved closer to one of them, looking down into the pool of thick sludge at their feet, in it, he saw his wavering reflection.
He was the same, the same green skin, the same pointed ears, bald head, coal-black eyes.
He was a goblin, that, he knew, but what a goblin was? That was something he couldn't quite wrap his head around.
The wavering light brightened even further as a new silhoutte rounded a corner, it stood far taller than Steal and the other goblin's, it's height double that of Steal's. It's body slimmer. One of the goblin's wandered haplessly to the torch-bearing figure, something thin and sharp glinted in the figure's free hand. The colour of the taller creatures skin became clearer, pale and pinkish.
Human
The human advanced on the approaching goblin, a thin blade glinting in it's hand.
SHIK
A thin glint of steel erupted from the back of the goblin's neck as the human's blade lunged forwards.
Danger.
