《Sword Immortal's Rebirth》Chapter 79: Learning from Nineorigin (3)

“Nineorigin, you actually created a legacy? I thought that you couldn’t transmit your Dao?” Heifeng Jiansui was truly shocked looking at the nine books gleaming with runes.
“Who told you that? I made a legacy of my own! And as my disciple, it is your duty to master it!” Nineorigin seemed to be a bit bossier.
“Hey, how long did you take to create this legacy? And how many people have mastered it earlier?” Heifeng Jiansui suddenly felt suspicious.
“Nine legacies, nine origins, nine years! And of course, no one managed to master it. It is a supreme legacy after all.” Nineorigin’s expression made him more suspicious.
Just as Heifeng Jiansui was planning to ask more, she stopped him, “Okay, I should provide you some rewards … Okay, if you completely read through all the books, I’ll take care of the resources you’ll need for refining the Nineprime Sword Body. How about it?”
Heifeng Jiansui shut up and nodded. The Nineprime Sword Physique was the apex body tempering art that Heifeng Jiansui had devised. If Heifeng Jiansui could cultivate it during the Body Transformation Boundary of cultivation, it would certainly be a miracle art.
But Heifeng Jiansui’s suspicions turned higher. Nineorigin only specified ‘reading through all the books’. Could it take a ridiculously large amount of time? But Nineprime was capable of stopping time, turning a moment to eternity. That was no problem.
“Okay then, I’ll begin now. Nineorigin, can you freeze time?” Hearing this, Nineorigin enthusiastically flicked her finger, exerting absolute control over the spatiotemporal boundary.

The first book Heifeng Jiansui picked up was the Fire Origin Art. All the books had quite a simplistic naming style, adding on the suffix of Origin Art to the name of the element. It was quite uncharacteristic to the usually grandiose Nineorigin.
Heifeng Jiansui held the book before him, turning the page. The first problem began when his eyes fell on the first page: all characters were chaotically printed. Sometimes a sentence was enough to cover a single page, sometimes the words were squeezed so tight, a chapter filled in a single page! There was also the ridiculous problem of the words shining in different colors due to Nineorigin’s laws engraved into the words.
The second problem was realized a few minutes later. Nineorigin didn’t keep to a single style of writing. Sometimes the cultivation steps were extremely detailed, sometimes they were extremely vague. And that was when the book described a cultivation technique. Half the time, there was some short story that was meant be advisory but fell flat on its face and some poem which would cause a poet of some renown to spit blood out!

And of course, the phrases and quotes had to be mentioned. Phrase after phrase, quote after quote which could not be deciphered. What the hell did they mean in the first place? What the hell does ‘people die when they are killed’ mean in the first place?!
The third problem was the constant fluctuation. Nineorigin changed between languages in a blink! Not even keeping herself restricted to one language, she even switched between runic styles and direct memories! As for the grammar… lesser said, better said. That said, perhaps due to his karmic connection to Nineorigin, the meaning behind the words slowly unveiled themselves to him as he read.
The final problem was that the book was an absolute bore. Heifeng Jiansui somehow felt thankful for the first three problems to exist as they alleviated the dredge of reading through the book. He would have long given up on it otherwise.
Heifeng Jiansui had built a peerless foundation in the literary arts of reading and writing through the countless years. Be it writing poems and fiction or manuals and scriptures, he had reached the apex in them. Even his calligraphy technique was peerless.
Reading this book was like a tribulation for his literary foundation! It was trying to utterly destroy his understanding. Heifeng Jiansui would need to revise his literature basics like grammar foundations for a few years to maintain his level of literacy!
But for better or worse, Heifeng Jiansui could be said to be a connoisseur of books. While others would have given up and laid their heads down in their laps due to how ridiculously bad this book was, Heifeng Jiansui kept on reading for the same reason. Just how worse could this book get? If this book was this trashy, just how far down would the other eight books go? This rabbit-hole, just how far down did it go?
Another reason he kept on reading was because strangely, reading the book page by page increased his comprehension of the Fire Supreme Dao step by step. A resonance formed with the fate he shared with Nineorigin, unveiling the principles of the Heavenly Dao more and more to his eyes! Even the Perennial Lord’s inheritance he had taken and Ice-Fire Dao of his Black Phoenix bloodline resonated together!
Knowing that this ‘inheritance’ of Nineorigin was an amazing thing, Heifeng Jiansui took the destruction of his literary foundation as a necessary sacrifice as he continued to read. Slowly, word by word, sentence by sentence, page by page, he steadily made his way to the final chapters.
Meanwhile, Nineorigin looked at her disciple with an amazed expression. The books had taken less than a decade to complete, so Nineorigin left it her Scripture Halls for a long time. All this while, not one of the sect disciples had dared touch it. While they were intrigued by the fact that it was the Sect Master’s only writing, the first page was enough to induce hallucinations and epilepsies in the best of them. A disciple forcibly completed the first chapter and ended up losing all ability to read and write in exchange for an unsurpassed ability to comprehend the Fire Supreme Dao!

The books had turned into a legend of sorts. They were the only legacies of the mysterious Nineyuan Sect’s Master, and it was rumored that completing it would allow you the chance to become a personal disciple! As if it was fated, Nineorigin’s only disciple was completing it!
+++
One, two, three… Heifeng Jiansui resolutely trudged through the manuals. Every time he completed a manual, an astounding amount of comprehension of the Supreme Dao would enter him, nourishing him in mind, body and energy. The 12 Perennial Lord legacies that he had accepted had their comprehension levels raised and began fusing into his Black Phoenix Nine Daos and each other, harmonizing into a perfect system of laws!
His literary foundation suffered a tribulation from this, but perhaps it was good fortune in a way. Having seen the absolute bottom of literature, he could now fly high to the apex. He would certainly drag Nineorigin with him and teach her language from the beginning. Be it basic grammar, writing techniques and manual creation arts, he would drive them all until it penetrated her thick skin even if it killed him!
Finally, the time came for the final Light Origin Art to end. Flipping the book to close it, Heifeng Jiansui heaved a sigh of breath. The monumental task was complete! Heifeng Jiansui would have decimated a hundred sects rather than do this again!
The Supreme Dao of Light joined the eight Supreme Dao he had already mastered, completing the Nine Origins. They came together within him, refining a path to the Chaosworld’s Daocore. Moreover, his karmic fate with Nineorigin grew even more. Even the Heavenly Dao of the Chaosworld acknowledged him as a person who deciphered it!
The power of the Chaosworld entered him, refining his body. Heifeng Jiansui had long reached the absolute limit of the mortal body, but the Heavenly Dao was the one that built it. His pure Black Phoenix body was reconstructed once more, reaching the absolute apex allowed by the Heavenly Dao!
Meanwhile, the laws of the Heavenly Dao made contact with his Black Phoenix Nine Daos. The Black Phoenix Nine Daos were formed at the beginning of the Chaosworld, the current Heavenly Dao was refined by changes of countless eras. They came together in harmony, providing maximum benefits to Heifeng Jiansui. Moreover the 12 Perennial Lord legacies were completely comprehended, harmonizing with the Black Phoenix Nine Daos to form an independent system of laws capable of running a world!
Nearly all preparations for Heifeng Jiansui’s foundation were complete. Having gained the acknowledgement of the Chaosworld and the Heavenly Dao, he even could begin cultivation now!
However, Heifeng Jiansui wouldn’t be so hasty. He had to complete the Black Phoenix Ancestral Heritage before it. It was the legacy of a Chaos Sovereign who was the progenitor of his bloodline after all.
Heifeng Jiansui had gained many benefits from completing Nineorigin’s legacy. It was now time to meet his master. He immediately broke a talisman given to him earlier and the temporal freeze ended, with Nineorigin appearing gracefully before him.
“So you completed the trial I gave you and gained many benefits from it… Dear disciple, I will certainly reward you well.” Nineorigin didn’t dare boast about her writing ability.
Heifeng Jiansui didn’t pay attention to that, instead staring at the strange nine-colored aura entering Nineorigin’s body. He remembered something and asked her, “Nineorigin, do you feel a comforting feeling enshrouding you in spirit, body and energy?”
She nodded puzzled. “Jiansui, how did you know that?”
“Oh, I just realized. Even though you are a World Spirit, you are still a spirit. You can still disseminate your teachings to gather the power of faith and embark on the path of Godhood. It seems like completing your books gathered some faith energy from me.” Hearing this, Nineorigin tilted her head.
“That’s true… I created the Nineorigin Sect and have been receiving a small stream of faith energy. However, the amount I gained at this moment surpasses what I gathered in ten thousand years!” Nineorigin had already grown used to a stream of faith energy, but what was coursing through her body was like an uncontrolled tsunami raging through a boundless sea!
This was perhaps the first true lucky chance that Nineorigin was experiencing! In the million years that she lived, such a chance that would allow her power to skyrocket never presented itself!
“That’s only natural… Due to our karmic connection, our master-disciple relationship, your importance to Nineorigin Chaosworld and Heavenly Dao and those ridiculous ‘legacies’ of yours that are like Divine Trials as themselves, there was no way you wouldn’t gain ridiculous amounts of faith energy. Even if I have zero belief or faith in you, it still holds true.” Heifeng Jiansui’s answer perfectly explained the fortuitous incident that Nineorigin was experiencing.
