《Sword Immortal's Rebirth》Chapter 63: Teaching (3)

“Ehhh… Elder brother, I fell asleep after I got exhausted. Does that mean that I failed?! Elder brother, I want to learn martial arts! Please don’t stop teaching, I swear I won’t faint next time!” The moment Tianxin woke up, she immediately began to plead forgiveness for her supposed failure.
“Don’t worry, you triumphantly succeeded. You actually kept continuously battling for a week. That is more than any child new to martial arts should be capable of.” Within Heifeng Jiansui’s words, a strong praise could be noted.
“Yay~! Since I succeeded, elder brother will teach me martial arts!” The little loli immediately began dancing.
“Hey, do you remember what happened after you fainted?” Heifeng Jiansui asked her.
“No, I simply fell asleep… didn’t I?” The little girl panicked as she thought about it.
“Here, I recorded what happened after you fainted.” Saying this, Heifeng Jiansui brought out a jadeslip and flicked it at her forehead. The memories that he recorded of her awakening filled her mind.
Even though Heifeng Jiansui did not relieve the memories beside her, he could still sense the awe, pride and happiness from her eyes. She caused the sun to shine, the moon to blush and the stars to shimmer, all for herself. Which girl wouldn’t enjoy this?
After the memories were fully transmitted, the jadeslip fell off her forehead and returned to his hand. Heifeng Jiansui asked her, “So how was it, watching your bloodline heritage awakening?”
“It was amazing! First my nose opened up and I took my first breath! It was like I could smell for the first time: the smell of everything burning around me was overwhelming…
After that, all those letters appeared, turning into words and then they entered my mind! White Phoenix Seven Purifications… It is a huge amount of memories describing a single technique! If it were written down it would take several thousand pages and if it were put into a jade-slip, it would take several of them to note it correctly!

Then, the sun sent white fire, the moon sent white ice and the stars sent white light down all to guard me… It was as if the world quieted down, and the three forces came down to transform me… It was as if I was reborn, and even though I look the same everything changed…” It was the first time the little loli was saying so much, and Heifeng Jiansui realized that perhaps even her mental defects had been cured.
Just then the little girl remembered something and excitedly said, “Elder brother, remember when we first trained and you split the sky to show the meteors and stars, saying that when I can do that, I have learnt some martial arts? Well, I called the sun, moon and the stars down! Doesn’t that mean that I have more amazing martial arts than you?”
Heifeng Jiansui made a dejected expression and said, “Ah, you surpassed me in a week. Now, you don’t need a weak teacher like me and can learn from a stronger person. When your father comes home, ask him to take you to a stronger teacher.”
“Hey, hey, I was simply joking! I didn’t call the sun, moon and stars down; they simply shined some light because they felt like it! Teach me, teach me!” Seeing the panic-stricken teary loli, Heifeng Jiansui suppressed the urge to laugh and continued.
“Well since you are so strong, I brought a strong martial art for you as well! Stellar Purification Staff, it calls breath to purify the essence, qi and spirit, converges the power of fire and ice to support light as the core and can call upon the might of the sun, the moon and the stars!” Heifeng Jiansui passed a scripture to the loli.
“Wah, it sure sounds amazing… Too bad I can’t read this…” The little loli looked pitifully at Jiansui. It was as if some candy was given to her, but she couldn’t unwrap it!

“You… can’t read…” Just then, Heifeng Jiansui remembered that this loli was a retard for a long time… Of course, she wouldn’t have been taught reading.
“Sigh… I suppose I have to teach you first…” Heifeng Jiansui knew that he would teach martial arts, but he didn’t imagine teaching reading and writing to this dumb loli!

Teaching the characters, including reading, writing and speaking them, took a day. Teaching proper pronunciation and grammar rules, both for speaking and writing, took three days. Teaching reading and writing words, sentences and paragraphs took five days.
All this while, he read quite a few historical accounts to her. In the million years that had passed, almost all notable events were narrated by him to the little girl. The first human savages on the desolate world after the beginning of the new era, the surviving human race from the previous era who hid in the 9 Supreme Worlds searching the desolate worlds, the research of the new cultivation system and its dissemination, the establishment of the Nineyuan Sect and the recolonization of the Great Worlds…
Basic geography and political states of the surrounding Great Worlds was also told to her.
“A Stellar Circuit is a similar to a constellation, with a number of Great Worlds linked together by them. Via the minor worlds and mystic realms connecting them, it is possible to travel through them. The Northdance Stellar Circuit which our Black Phoenix World belongs to is connected to your White Phoenix Great World, Divine Dragon Great World and Mortal Martial Great World. Now, tell me the races that populate these worlds and their rulers?” Heifeng Jiansui asked with a teasing expression on his face.
“All these worlds are mostly occupied by humans, other than the Divine Dragon Great World controlled by lizards and their subordinate monster beasts. Black Phoenix Great World, White Phoenix Great World and Divine Dragon Great World are ruled by Black Phoenixes, White Phoenixes and Divine Dragons respectively. How is that?” The loli’s answer came almost immediately.
“Good to see you aren’t dumb!” Saying this, Heifeng Jiansui stroked the little girls head.
To say the truth, this was a laughably easy question. Humans and monsters populated the world. True divine beasts flew through the stars, not inhabiting human land. Only their descendents with human bloodlines settled down in Great World. The Divine Dragon Great World was the only Great World solely populated by monsters!
“Okay, now tell me the political relations between these four worlds.” Heifeng Jiansui seriously asked the girl once more.
“The Black Phoenix Great World and White Phoenix Great World are allies due to their shared Phoenix Ancestry. The Divine Dragon Great World opposes these two Great Worlds due to this very reason. As for the Mortal Martial Great World, it is neutral, but suppresses the monstrous beasts populating Divine Dragon Great World.” The loli answered seriously as well.
“Good answer! It seems that you have a good grasp of the language… At least, this much is enough to begin your training. Now, let us begin reading the Stellar Purification Staff!” With great enthusiasm, the little girl and the tall boy began reading the technique manual.
+++
After this, the little girl memorized the technique manual for the Stellar Purification Staff. For now, she only learnt the foundation arts. The technique manual contained the 1st Layer practicable after breakthrough to Body Transformation, but she was merely a mortal, so it didn’t need teaching. Heifeng Jiansui demonstrated the Stellar Purification Staff especially for her, and she learnt quickly. Nearly two weeks passed as he taught her, and the month came to an end.
It was soon time for the little girl to go home.

Many Minded
Synopsis: Issa Pyxis, Spacer orphan and illegal heretic, graduated from living on the streets to running with a gang years ago, but now it looks like that’s all going to change. Her inheritance, more specifically who—or what—she is, is catching up with her, and on a planet with the Emperor’s inquisitors slinking around in every shadow, nowhere is safe and no one can be trusted. What will she do? A cyberpunk story about identity, loneliness, covert infiltration, evil dystopias, and much more! Features: - Cyborgs and cyberpunk galore - This is indented to be somewhat “rational” and “hard” Sci-Fi story - Original Fiction however parts of my worldbuilding are inspired by other Sci-Fi stories (duh) Rationale: The future is cool, AIs are kickass, and questions about consciousness are simultaneously existential and yet unanswered. To me, this story is a vehicle for exploring these topics, and also, I wanted to write a story where the protagonist was unafraid of themselves and where their self is more like a git-repo than a meat computer. Disclaimer: This story primarily takes place in what we’d describe as a “cyberpunk dystopia” with some extra technocracy, autocracy, and religious fervor thrown into the mix, so there will be some “grittiness” in this story. Caveat emptor. Also, [insert your favorite boilerplate “views expressed” disclaimer here]. I shouldn’t need to say this, but the main character and other characters in my story can be wrong on occasion (gasp!) and the way they view the world isn’t always objective truth (if such a thing even exists) nor do their views and opinions necessarily reflect the views of me, the author.
