《The Will of the Strong》Prologue to 2nd book: Sins

I stood there looking back at the Imperial city, Athros. Screams could be heard as my horde slaughtered its citizens. I felt nothing. They were tainted. No one was innocent in this world anymore. We have all sinned.
I waited until the air was rich with blood and death. When I thought it was time to continue on, I turned to face the Imperial palace gate. I absorbed the vast amount of mana from the air. The blood and life energy of an entire city flooding my body. There was so much that my meridians and mana pool began to burn due to energy. The mana wanted to be released and run rampant, I forced it to do my bidding.
Channeling it down through my right arm the mana flowed out of my flesh and into my sickle. It felt like lava moving through my veins but it didn't faze me. I had felt much worse. The runes engraved in the metal illuminated against the sickle’s dark and jagged crescent blade with a white glow.
The weapon began to vibrate in my hand and I knew I had no choice but to unleash it. I scraped the tip of the sickle across my wrist and blood flowed onto it. The sickle greedily drew in every ounce that streamed out. Fueled by my blood the white light coming from the sickle started during a dark red. When I felt the weapon drank its fill, I pulled it away and swung it at the gates.
A large crescent shaped wave of unstable energy burst out of my weapon and swiftly soared towards the gate. Spread out along the gate, runes flared into existence in reaction to my attack. A blue screen of mana appeared, blocking my attack.
The impact was violent as my crimson wave of energy attempted to shred through the barrier like a feral animal. Cracks began appearing around the blue screen while various runes along the palace gates burned out.

Mages standing on the wall fainted, as they succumbed to mana exhaustion. Worn down, the blue screen shattered under the assault and was dispelled completely. The red energy surged forward once again unhindered, crashing into the gate. After the dust settled I could see it had ripped a large gash in the metal work. Satisfied with the success of my attack, I commanded the mob of undead behind me to charge.
Assorted types of undead pushed past me eager to taste the blood of the imperial army stationed beyond the gate. Dullahan's, Death Knights, Ghouls and Vampires ran to meet the Empire's finest fighters.
Then I waded into the battle, with a purpose. Commanding my personal legion, the Crimson Banner, we slaughtered our way towards the imperial estate. It is time to teach the nobles life's lesson.
No one is above death.
No one is innocent.
We
Have
All
Sinned.

“The Great Library,” Stated the stranger with a pause. “You know of it?”“Of course I do. In the Merchant’s Quarter?”“Yes, in the Merchant’s Quarter. I have gathered that there is an… artefact of importance within its walls.” Slowly, the figure produced a rusted key from the furls of his robes and held it in a black-gloved hand. “This opens the door to its chambers. It is the grimoire of Gunnar von Krugenheim, and I believe that it would serve better in the world than locked away in a dusty room.” Behind the cursed walls of Mordheim, warbands and gangs of all stripes are embattled in constant wars for resources and power. The cursed city attracts throngs in the thousands, searching for treasures, artefacts, power, and sometimes all three. The Cult of the Hidden Brethren is no exception, and when an opportunity to extend their reach is discovered, the cultists are eager to take the opportunity. However, not all is set in stone, and soon the cultists discover that the lure of power alone may not be enough to give them the drive required to see their quest done... --- Mordheim: Servants of the Damned is a fanfiction set in the world of Warhammer Fantasy, which is not owned by me but by the company Games Workshop. I of course, lay claim to nothing in this story but the characters I have created, and the core events of the story itself. This is my first true foray into fantasy writing, let alone Warhammer Fantasy, therefore any feedback is welcome. (It should be noted as well, the cover art is merely an artwork I found online and is not mine, therefore I do not lay claim to that either.)
