《The Will of the Strong》Skulls and Blood

Thorin felt a weird intrusion in his mana, a foreign magic was going through his meridians. He naturally resisted it at first but that just caused some pain as the foreign magic pressed through forcefully.
“Relax it will be easier for both of us.” Cynar said in a strained voice.
“Alright sorry.” Thorin said as he tried to relax and let the magic through.
Eventually the magic made its way to Thorin’s chest and entered into his mana pool. It was extremely uncomfortable, but Thorin endured. The magic searched around for a bit then surged to one point. Thorin felt a flash of pain then found himself looking into a blank nothingness, he looked to his side and could see Cynar motioning to him.
“Try and project your magic into the surroundings, it should manifest into your specialty.” Cynar instructed.
Thorin tried to do just that. He could feel his mana draining away from him at a rapid pace. It made him feel empty and cold. The energy swirled around for a while before it suddenly formed into a large skull. It was a pristine ebony and gave off a prestigious pressure. Cynar was about to say something, but gasped as blood began to flow out of the skull’s mouth and eyes. The blood was a deep crimson and stained the skull as it flowed like a waterfall.
Cynar’s face was full of shock and slowly regained his composure.
“You continue to surprise me Thorin. You are a dual affinity necromancer, with both lord and blood paths open for you to use.”
“So I am able to use both of these path’s spells to the fullest?” Thorin thought extremely satisfied.
“Yes if you were alive before the Great War, we would have treated you as royalty. You have no idea how rare and special you are.” Cynar said in awe.
“I can explain more once we leave your mind” Cynar said as Thorin suddenly felt dizzy and closed his eyes.
When he opened them back up he found himself back in the forest where it was morning time.
Congrats On Becoming Blood Lord
Stat Increase: Strenght +10, Vitality +10, Inteligence +10, Will Power +10
“This is fantastic, Thorin using both of these magic specializations you can become much more powerful than any normal necromancer would. The last time a dual attributed necromancer existed, we had an age of prosperity and growth.”
“I don't get why though, won’t I just be as powerful as two necromancers combined. My power can’t be that strong.” Thorin thought thinking Cynar was just overreacting.’
“No dual attributed necromancers are especially strong due to their ability to merge both types of magic and create new powerful spell only they can cast.” Cynar explained.
“Alright, we should start moving if we want to get to the town by tomorrow explain the rest of this to me as we walk.” Thorin said optimistic about his future.

He quickly packed up camp and order his skeletons to return from training. He quickly threw them into his dimensional space and began to walk on the road.
‘Alright, what even are my two specializations, you didn’t even explain that.’ Thorin asked hoping to sort all of this out before reaching the town.
“You are a Blood Lord Necromancer, meaning you are able use the lord and blood spells. Each time you level up your body will automatically give you an extra point in willpower, intelligence, strength and vitality. This alone will make you quite stronger than other at your level.” Cynar said once again adopting his job as teacher.
‘So I should learn both life siphon and skeletal refinement?’
“Of course, let's take care of that immediately, so it's out of the way. Brace yourself” Cynar warned before sending his knowledge of the two spells over to Thorin.
This time the knowledge transfer was much less painful to Thorin, for some reason it just felt like his brain was expanding. There was no feeling of being to full, it almost felt like he had more room to use. He looked over the spell windows that popped up after learning more about the spells.
Life Siphon: Rank D Spell Cost Dark spell used to steal an enemy's health and heal yourself. If you use blood from one of your open wounds the effect of the spell will be doubled.
Mana (10).
Health(10).
Skeletal Refinement: Rank D Spell Cost
Strengthen a skeleton minion by having it absorb near by bones. The skeleton will gain strength and
sometimes characteristics depending on the bones used.
Mana (100)
‘That was much easier than last time, what gives?’ Thorin asked hoping to hear that it would stay like this.
“It’s due to your increase in intelligence. Before when I taught you the other spell your intelligence stat was lacking so I had to force it through. You were lucky it was a extremely easy spell otherwise it could have destroyed your mind and driven you insane. This is why you can only handle basic spells right now.”
‘So when my intelligence stat is high enough you can give me stronger spells?’
“Well not really, like I said I am a Black Necromancer. I don’t know any of the blood or lord advanced spells.”
‘So I am a screwed, I mean what's the point of being some rare dual affinity necromancer if I can’t cast any fucking spells.’ Thorin yelled as he complained about his bad luck.
“Perhaps I will be able to help you find what you need to learn more if we find any Necromancer heritage. There is one place where we stored all of our history for the future. If I can remember where it is we can go there and maybe find some spell tomes.” Cynar said with a gleam of hope in his eyes.

‘Alright until then though I’ll have to do the best I can with these spells. At least I can rank them up and make them stronger.’ Thorin thought as determination filled him to become stronger.
‘Please explain teach me everything you know about these spells as we walk don't leave out a single detail.’ He commanded as he continued to walk along the road.
As they walked Cynar continued to explain the intricacies of Thorin’s two new spells. How best to use them and any tricks he knew.
Eventually Thorin spotted the outline of a wall at edge of his vision. Excited to be done with this infernal walking he started to speed up and approached the town.
He could only see a large wooden palisade and the top of a couple of large buildings from the outside. As he approached the gate the guard yelled out.
“Halt, who goes there, what do you want with this town?”
“I am Thorin Black”
“What is your purpose for staying here, we only let those in with respectable professions. No lazy scum.” The guard questioned.
Thorin panicked knowing he didn't have any job or money to offer, at best he had the weapons he took from the wagon.
‘Say you are an enchanter’s apprentice running an errand for your master’ Cynar supplied.
Thorin quickly repeated the statement to the guard who looked impressed and slightly suspicious.
“Alright you can come in but don't expect any fancy treatment.” The guard said hostilely as he opened the gate.
‘Good thinking Cynar, he bought it.’ Thorin complemented.
‘It isn’t a lie. You're going to need some way to make money, right? Why not become an enchanter, I can explain the basics. I used it as a hobby even though I was rubbish at it. Perhaps you'll have better luck.’ Cynar told him.
‘Alright but right now that's not a priority, I need to focus on becoming stronger.’ Thorin thought not wanting to deal with too much at once.
‘That's where you're wrong lad, enchanting is a very beneficial profession for necromancers. Not only do you increase your intelligence through the constant manipulation of mana, but you can also equip your entire undead army with magical weapons. It would increase your firepower substantially.’ Cynar said disappointed in Thorin's quick rejection of enchanting.
‘Well when you put it that way it sounds much more beneficial. It's going to be night time soon though so we should start tomorrow.’ Cynar declared while looking for a place to sleep.
He eventually found the town's inn. It was named the Rambunctious Goblins and was one of the large buildings in town. He walked in and was instantly casted into a merry environment where a large amount of large men were eating and drinking away. There was even a pretty looking girl up on stage singing an upbeat song.
The smell of the food made Thorin's mouth water. After eating nothing but rations for the past two weeks, Thorin realized how much he was missing out.
He quickly walked up to the bar counter and the inn's owner walked up to him. It was a gruff man whose appearance and temperament was the exact opposite of the inn’s.
“What you want?” He asked Thorin.
“Hoping to stay a couple of days and get a meal” Thorin said.
“Two silver a day includes room and two meals.” The man said leaving no room for haggling.
Realizing he didn’t have any money, Thorin reached down and grabbed a dagger from his belt.
It was one of the higher quality ones that Thorin decided to use himself.
“How many days will this give me.” Thorin said as he handed the dagger over.
The old man raised one of his grey eyebrows and held the dagger up in front of him.
“Hmmp, fine blade I'll give you ten days for it” The owner grumbled as he threw a key at Thorin.
“Second floor third room, go over there to get your meal.” The man told Thorin as he pointed to the other side of the room where a woman was handing out plates of food.
Just like that the old man moved away and started serving beer to the other men.
Moving away from the counter Thorin made his way across the room and grabbed some food from the women. She asked for him to show his key and then gave him a plate full of food. It was a slice of roasted beef, boiled vegetables and two buns of homemade bread. It was in no means a fantastic meal, but Thorin savored every bit.
After washing down his food with an ale, Thorin made his way up to his room and fell onto his bed. He was extremely pleased. Compared to sleeping on the ground this was heaven. Quickly, Thorin fell asleep with a smile on his satisfied face.

8 137A Tale From Azaad
Desperate and wandering, a young lord stumbles upon unknown knowledge that can help to overturn his peoples’ destiny. But can he rise to bring the prosperity his people need, or fall before it can ever take shape? AN: I hate writing synopses, so I'd recommend reading a few chapters before making a decision. Also, it's tagged as an isekai but those tropes don't appear. Warnings: I mention them, but there are a few chapters that are really gruesome. Furthermore, the innovations and advancements don't come into play until a lot later, though the framework for it all is built up early. Inspirations: South Asian history, Tales of a Reincarnated Lord and some of the histroical and kingdom-building stories on RR are inspirations for this work. If you enjoy politics, clever strategies, nation-building and technological advancement, then this story might interest you. Schedule: New chapter every Saturday at 3PM PST.
