《MMORPG: Deliverance》CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT: A SPOONFULL AT THE ‘GOLDEN SPOON’

Gabriel entered the inn [Golden Spoon]. This was a mercenary bar filled with rough and murderous looking people. Ranging in all shapes and sizes. Most of the people filling the bar at the moment are NPC’s but this place will eventually become a hub for player mercenaries too.
You can find one such inn at all major cities across [Valhalla]. There was a mission board next to the bar, were NPC’s and players can post requests. You can accept missions depending on your (RP) and Mercenary rank. The requests ranged from helping guard a caravan or noble, too taking down wanted criminals.
Gabriel had spent plenty of time at this inn and similar ones in his past. He had some fond memories and some not so fond ones too.
As he made his way to the bar, Gabriel had to dodge fights, move around drunken warriors singing and waitresses doing dodges of their own. As the males and females alike tried to cop a squeeze on the barmaids as they were passing by their tables.
Gabriel even had to dodge a wandering hand that tried to grab at his own butt. He looked back to the owner of the large hand and saw a Dwarven female sending a wink his way. She was decked out in spiked plate-mail with a large double-headed axe on her back. Gabriel offered her a polite smile in return before rushing off. He didn’t mind the Dwarf female look but that woman was terrifying.
As Gabriel finally arrived at the bar, he called out to the bartender. A small and barrel-chested High Elf lumbered over to Gabriel. This odd looking High Elf was the bartender and part owner of the [Golden Spoon]. He ran the inn with his Dwarven wife. They were polar opposites of each other and their own race.
High Elves usually have a tall and slim build. The bartender however was a four-foot tall, fat High Elf. His wife who could usually be found in the kitchen was a tall and petite Dwarven woman. When standing together they make for a very pecuilar site.
“What can I do for ya boi? Ya lookin to join me Mercenary guild? Or maybe ya lookin for a perty lady for a romp... heh heh” The Bartender said with a seedy chuckle.
The Bartender would have to be the only, usually regal uppity High-Elf, in the world. Who speaks like a pirate.
Gabriel chuckled at the last request before leaning over the bar to offer a handshake to the small High-Elf.
“I am good for now thanks. My name is [Osiris]. I would like to hire one of your larger private booths and order 2 bowls of your ‘Golden Soup’.” Gabriel said.
“[Osiris]... that be an odd name. Ye don’t look lik one of those sand people.... Aye.. Don’t matter none. Ye can’t properly pronounce me real name, so jus call me [Roger]. The private booth will cost ye 50 silver and for two bowls cost ya a gold each” said Roger as he gave Gabriel a sweaty handshake.

Gabriel handed over the coins and added a couple flagons of ale to the order. [Roger] called over a barmaid who took Gabriel up to the second floor that had partitioned booths. Gabriel sat in a booth to wait for Tom.
Tom arrived shortly after the barmaid served the flagons of ale.
“Gab dude, this joint is mental. Did you see that bartender, what the hell is he supposed to be? Looks like someone beat him half to death with the ugly stick” Tom said the moment he sat down.
“Tom you meatball. Don’t talk so loudly. That’s the owner and leader of the mercenary guild in Roma you're talking about. Do you think he is somebody you can badmouth. He could make a hole in your head with a flick of his bogger”. Gabriel exclaimed while poking his head out the door to see if anyone was listening.
Tom paled at the thought and skulled his beer. Gabriel just shook his head at his friend.
“So, why did you call me here Gab? What’s the dealo?” Tom asked after calming down.
“Well first things first, I got us some representation.” Gabriel said as he went on to explain all about Lucy. Gabriel also recommended Tom make his own Videos for Krypto Entertainment and put Tom’s father’s factory advertisements on them. Tom agreed straight away.
“Wow. I had no idea Lucy would choose such a people-oriented job. I guess you were right. She was always in Melissa’s shadow. I wonder if I didn’t tell her about you being [Osiris] whether she would have tried to rope in Melissa and Todd. I have already heard they have made a guild in Stormhaven and are using Todd’s family money to buy over players”. Tom said after thinking for a moment.
Gabriel thought about it. ‘Maybe the reason I never heard much about Lucy in my past, was that she stayed under Melissa’s shadow. Being an agent for Todd VanKempton's D.O character would force Lucy to be entwined with them both. And that is a recipe for tragedy’.
“That might be true Tom. You could say it's her luck for running into you. Then again if you were both on the same sidewalk, with your gut it would be rarer if she didn’t run into you”. Gabriel laughed while poking Tom’s belly.
After sharing insults at each other for the next 10 minutes, they stopped and Tom said he will call Lucy about his potential video’s tonight.
“Okay. That’s not the only reason I called you to come here though. Look over the railing and in the left-hand corner. Do you see an old dwarf there?” Gabriel said.
Tom sat at the end of his chair and looked over the railing down to the bottom floor. He saw an old Dwarf, with a long grey dirty beard. He had his head on the table, looking like he had passed out. Tom sat back down and looked at Gabriel confused.

“Yeah, I see him. He looks like a classic dirty drunk. What’s his deal?” Tom replied.
“That dirty drunk is your ticket to the unique profession and class I was telling you about.” Gabriel said with a dramatic flourish.
“Bullsh*t! He looks like a homeless man. The drunk will probably take me to a darkened alley way and have his way with my soft and delicate body.” Tom said while covering his chest with his hands. Like he was afraid somebody would try to molest him.
“HAHA, more like you would eat the poor bugger. Seriously though, it is a classic trope. The powerful expert was found as a Begger drunk and gave the kind hearted person who helped them incredible powers.” Gabriel said while stroking his long beard, putting on the air of a wizened sage.
Tom nodded in all seriousness at Gabriel’s words.
“You are wise beyond years young padawan” Tom complimented in an aged voice.
“So, do I just go down there and treat him to a few beers?” Tom asked.
“Yep, pretty much. I heard though that you will have to do some strange quests for him first though and before you say anything. He is not going to try an ravage you. HA!” Gabriel explained while Tom started to cover his chest protectively again.
Just then the barmaid came back and brought two “Golden soups” and placed them on the table. The soup had a creamy texture and filled both of their nostrils with a delicious aroma.
“Okay, I bought these two soups for you to take down to the drunk. Apparently, you need to offer these to him or else he won’t talk to you” Gabriel said while pointing at the soups.
“Coolio. Thanks Gab. I will be on my way then. I need to get this sh*t started quick, as I have to work early tomorrow at Dad’s factory. I also have been having trouble sleeping recently, getting awful goddamn head aches.” Tom said while giving Gabriel a nod and taking the soups with him on the way out.
Gabriel bid his friend farewell and watched with concerned eyes as his friend walked down the stairs. He hoped that with Tom getting a [Unique] profession and Gabriel providing him, with funds he would make a decent income quite quickly. Gabriel wanted so badly to tell Tom to get himself checked out but he also knew Tom was a very stubborn person. The more he pushed something without giving an explanation the less likely it was that Tom would heed his advice.
Gabriel didn't really have a good explanation for how he knew Tom was ill, considering Tom himself didn't know. Gabriel was already walking a tight rope with revealing certain information in front of Tom and the [Wolfpack]. Nobody had asked him any questions yet but he had noticed the looks [Rex] and [Phat-Cat] gave him when his information was always so perfectly accurate and detailed. Those two had both done a lot of research on D.O. before playing and were almost certain that there was no information on the things Gabriel seemed to already know.
Gabriel decided to just cross that road when it came to it. With Tom saying he had started to get headaches though, Gabriel thought it might give him an excuse to convince Tom to get a full check up.
Plan brewed in his mind as he sat back to wait for the [Wolfpack] while sipping his beer. After a little while waiting, a barmaid came back to Gabriel’s booth. She had a damn near perfect hourglass figure. The barmaid rested a hand on Gabriel's shoulder and leaned forward, giving him a great view down her low-cut top. Gabriel’s mind went click.click.click. Saving as many mental photos he could of the sight.
“Hey handsome. Why you all by your lonesome here. You waiting for some friends or just waiting for me...” The barmaid whispered in Gabriel’s ear, sending a chill down his spine.
“Hey [Osiris]! You up here!” At that moment [Rex] yelled out, as he stomped up the stairs followed by the [Wolfpack].
Gabriel turned his face to the direction of the voice, forgetting the barmaid had her face right next to the same side ear. She faced Gabriel at the same time he turned and both their lips met. The barmaid’s eyes seem to smolder as she looked at Gabriel. He froze not in shock of the recent accident but because he received a notification.
[(Unique) skill [Smooth talker] has come into effect – Your familiarity with [Jezabelle Idris] has increased to (Friendly)]
“Yo bartender! Can I have a spoonful of what [Osiris] is having!?”
Gabriel heard [T]’s voice from the stairway call out, causing him and [Jezabelle] to separate. Compared to how [Jesabelle] was just acting, she now looked like a maiden in love. Her face turned red as she touched her lips with the tips of her fingers. The [Wolfpack] had made their way to Gabriel’s table. All the boys were smiling in glee, while [Phat-Cat] shot glares at Gabriel and the barmaid.
The Barmaid looked at [Phat-Cat] and raised an eyebrow with a smirk. She then turned back to Gabriel.
“Well, you look busy now. We will talk again soon [Osiris], very soon” [Jezabelle] said while running finger down Gabriel’s jaw before sashaying away. The men of [Wolfpack] were true to their name and followed [Jezabelle] with their wolfish eyes.
Gabriel smartly didn’t watch and just matched [Phat-Cat]’s glare with gentle smile on full blast. He didn’t know when but Gabriel started to become a lot more daring when it came to girls since coming back.
“What about you [Phat-Cat], you want a spoonful of what she got too?” Gabriel said with a confident smile and a wink.
