CHAPTER SIXTEEN: THE DRAUGR BARBER OF DEMON STREET

Gabriel was ecstatic. He had leveled up again, he remembered in his past life it took him almost a week (GT) before he got to LVL 6. He was about to break out into dance before stopping himself quickly due to the other people with him.

Gabriel quickly applied the 1 (AP) to Dexterity. He knew that nothing but perfectly precise moves were needed to defeat the next Boss by himself.

“That was awesome Osiris! How the hell do you move like that man!? I wonder what loot we will get. Hopefully something we can make some money on.” [Rex] asked with cheer in his voice.

“Take me as your disciple brother!! With those moves and my natural charm, it should be easy to catch the eye of some hungry ladies.” [T] pleaded as he tried to tempt Gabriel with different offerings.

T and Rex were both stoked with their first Victory over a Mini-boss. Although their priorities after were a bit different.

“Very impressive indeed. You very graceful in the way you moved Osiris” [Phat-Cat] praised.

“That was impressive Osiris. How did you managed to disarm that one Draugr with the sword?” [Rex] asked while looking at the Draugr missing an arm.

[Phat Cat] mumbled her compliment to Gabriel while seemingly staring at his ass. Luckily for her, Gabriel thought she was looking at the dead Draugr while he answered [Rex]’s question.

“See if you accurately attack any humanoid enemy in one of their joints like shoulder, elbow, knee or wrist. You get a 25% chance to inflict a cripple status on them. You have to be aware that you need to be close to their level and/or have significant strength. My chances were higher because my axe gives me an extra 5% of inflicting a cripple debuff.”

“I see... I see....Interesting.... I completely understand” Mouse stroked his chin like he had a goatee, while adopting an all-knowing look. Which didn’t fool any of them. As he wasn’t even paying attention to the conversation, his eyes were staring at one of the Hat’s on the Draugr with an interested look.

Gabriel laughed while thinking ‘this lad is adorable’. The party made their way over to the corpses. Gabriel called out to the daydreaming Mouse. “Why don’t you loot the corpses Mouse?”

“Okay!!” Mouse readily agreed.

Gabriel couldn’t believe this list of goods. He at first wasn’t sure if Mouse had acquired his lucky hands later on in the game through some secret quest but apparently not. Mouse ran over to Gabriel looking slightly desperate.

“I want the Hat! Please let me have the Hat!” Mouse shouted with eyes pleasing for agreement.

Gabriel chuckled. He didn’t mind, the hat was a good item but he certainly wasn't going to wear a hat like that around anyway. Gabriel decided to be generous with his handout of the loot as he was party leader.

“Sure Mouse! Go ahead it is all yours. I only want the [Steel short spear], [Potion of speed] and the [Smooth Tunes - Skill book]. The rest you guys can decide between each other. We will split the money. Sound good” Gabriel replied.

“YEAHHHH!!!” Mouse screamed.

“That’s great! Thanks heaps Osiris” [Rex] said in thanks.

“Much appreciated, I could do with a proper Hammer” [T] agreed while equipping his new hammer.

Mouse equipped the hat straight away after receiving it and his eyes shined, making them all laugh.

Gabriel planned to sell the skill book as he wasn’t planning to be a Bard but he knew he could make some money as Bard skill books were hard to come by. The steel spear will come in handy when he needs something with more reach. As for the four Speed potions they will be needed next.

“Alright guys this is where we split up as the boss will take me a while and there is no point of waiting for me. Let’s add each other as friends and party up again another time” Gabriel said before disbanding the party.

“No worries, Osiris! We are going to grind against some Draugr as they should be spawning soon and we still have a fetch quest to do”

[Rex] answered for the party and they all sent friend requests. Gabriel saw them walking away and hesitated for a second, before yelling out to them.

“Guys! Just some advice for when you reach LVL 10. I recommend you choose the Capital City Roma of the Imperium Empire next to the Vanheim Forest. I can’t explain yet why I recommend that city but just take it as friendly suggestion.”

The leaving [Wolf-Pack] looked at each other in silence before looking to [Rex] reply for them.

“That sounds good to us, we will take you up on our suggestion as we have no reason not to. I assume that is where you are going [Osiris]?” [Rex] asked.

“I sure am” Gabriel replied.

The party finally left after that and Gabriel made his way to the next room. After entering through the connecting door. Gabriel checked out the room. It was a long narrow corridor with a couple of chairs scattered around. Both sides of the corridor had a long mirror on the wall.

The Boss was standing behind one of the chairs with a pair of scissors in his hand, making ‘snip-snip’ noise with them in the air above the chair.

Gabriel checked the boss for his health.

Quest Target! Additional Info acquired: The Draugr Barber was once known as the Fastest Barber in all the lands but he was cursed by Hades for messing up his Hairstyle due to his speed. His curse made him roam the lands as a hairless barber, which resulted in him hating and trying to scalp anyone he saw with hair. As a consequence he waas locked up in a crypt with only the songs of the Barbershop Quartet to keep him company.

Gabriel knew that this boss didn’t appear to be anything with his low HP but the Barber didn’t need a lot of HP when his speed was so ridiculous, you could barely touch him at lower levels before you get scalped.

Gabriel needed to increase his movement speed if he hoped to hit a single bald spot on the Barber’s head.

Gabriel had 30 seconds to defeat this boss which didn’t seem like much but Gabriel was confident it was all the time he needed. As a maniacal grin started to form on his face. Gabriel took the twine out of his pony tail and let his hair flow loose.

Gabriel pulled out the twin daggers he got from [Tyrion the Talker] out of the sheathes on his back and dashed towards the Barber.

The Barber finally noticed Gabriel and more importantly noticed his lovely long golden hair!

“You look like you need a cut boy! Just a little around the sides I reckon and maybe a lot off the top!” The Barber suggested with a scary smile.

Exactly as Gabriel planned as now the Barber will only focus on attacking but have next to no defense.

They both dashed towards each other at inhuman speeds before slamming into each other. Gabriel dropped to his knees in a controlled slide under the swing of the Barber while swinging out at the Barbers legs with his daggers. Scoring a couple of slices.

Gabriel ended his slide and quickly sprang to his feet with the Barber hot on his tail. The Barber held a dagger sized pair of scissors in each hand. Slicing at Gabriel’s head back and forth. He was only aiming for his head as the Barber was now in a Berserk state due to Gab’s hair and was going for that before attacking the party properly.

Gabriel used quick neck movements to whip his hair back and forth just missing the scissors. The action reminded Gabriel of a certain annoying song as he started to sing out loud. “I whip my hair back and forth! I whip my hair back and forth!” With Gabriel’s off-tone singing and glowing purple eyes, it made for quite the odd fight. Gabriel continued to make quick slashes all over the Barber's body in between dodges. The wounds started to stack up and began to bleed profusely as the fight continued.

Gabriel was aiming for this and continued to hack and slice at the Barber increasing the bleed status. There was only about 15 seconds left on the speed potion effects. The Barber managed to get cut a couple of hairs off of Gab’s head but that was it.

About 25 Seconds into the fight gab got the notification he was waiting for.

[Draugr Barber has 5/5 stacked Bleed status – DMG 50HP every second for he next 10 Seconds.

Gabriel had 5 seconds left on his Movement speed buff and he knew the moment it’s gone he will not be able to match the Barber’s speed anymore.

Gabriel ducked another slice at his hair landing on his knees while performing a downward stab with all his strength at the Baber’s feet. Slamming both daggers to their hilt and pinning the Barber’s feet to the floor.

Gabriel quickly performed a backwards roll to get out of reach of the Barber while he was stuck to the floor. After the 5 seconds was up the Bleed Status had taken the remaining of the Barber’s health. Falling to his knees on the floor, The Barber grabbed at his bald head as a mane of luscious brown hair started growing between his fingers. The Barber laughed and said before he fell.

“HA! Hades you funny bugger”

Gabriel took a deep breath and sat on his butt as that battle exhausted him. Going at those speeds puts a certain strain on the mind and body at lower levels. Forcing you with fatigue after.

Once he had his breath back he went up to the Barber and looted his corpse.

“YES!! HAHA! What are the chances of a Divine drop! like 1% with a 0 in my luck stat! Is this hand of mine, the Hand of Mitas!!” Gabriel almost squealed in glee.

Gabriel was so excited he was dancing and stroking his hands together creepily.

The [Lock of Hades] was a Unique item so it didn’t take up an armour slot and was bound, so Gabriel didn’t have to worry about it being dropped on his death or stolen. Gabriel quickly equipped it and the tight leather pants. Then pulled up his Status sheet for a total of view of his current form.
