《MMORPG: Deliverance》CHAPTER SIX: BREAKFAST WITH THE FAMILY

Gabriel spent a quick thirty minutes writing an outline of a plan of what he needed to do in the next few months. He remembered that four months after his graduation, 'Deliverance Online' will be available for sale. He didn't manage to join 'Deliverance Online' in his past life for more then a year after its launch. It left him behind a lot of the top players and guilds. Gabriel was not a big player of the previous VR games either, which added another stone on his back that slowed him down, on his previous journey to the top.

Deliverance Online could only be accessed through the new dive capsules, Boundless Entertainment, who made D.O., made the technology specifically to give players the full immersion experience. Of course, that meant people couldn't use the VR helmets that they used with other games. One reason the game took so long to build, besides crafting the god-like A.I. was because they needed to advance the current FIVR equipment. Previous VR games had many lock on controls or aim-assists to help players with the combat. However, there is no lock on systems in Deliverance Online. If you wanted to swing a sword, then you had to literally swing a sword. Your character is purely under your control, besides skills that made you do some automatic moves and effects,. Everything else required you to do it yourself. It took a little while for people to get the hang of it but it truly showed the experts from the beginners by the time the game breaking first patch came into play.

Boundless entertainment wanted to make it affordable and fair for everyone. So, all capsules and copies of the game were exactly the same, everyone started on the exact same level. Giving no one an advantage.... well until Gabriel that is.

The dive equipment cost a flat rate of $10,000 which included the game however to make sure that it was affordable for everyone, you could get a payment plan for it which was only $500 for 20 months. The subscription for the game was also only $50 per month.

Even though that doesn't sound like too much, after 50% of the population in the entire world started paying that once a month, Boundless Entertainment became a powerhouse quite quickly.

Gabriel grabbed his mobile phone off his night stand and checked the time. It was 7:30am and he had to get to university by 11:30am. So, he had to make a move. He opened up his chest of drawers and grabbed any old clothes, most of them were well worn but still kept in good nick.

His mother was a treasure at fixing clothes, she used to be a bit of spendthrift when they were middle-classed but now it has only become way worse.

Most of his sweaters had some many alterations and sewed up tears, it didn't help that his mother used whatever colored thread she had around. He took out a plain black sweater that had a minimal amount of colored string and put on a pair of grey jeans.

He quickly went to the bathroom on the way, he wet his hair, brushed his teeth and moved on to grab his little brother. The closer he came to his brother and sister's room; he was getting more and more excited to see little Max and Jane.

Once Gabriel arrived at the door and saw Max's name on the door with stickers of Rockets and Robots all over it. ‘Max always loved anything to do with Robots or space’, Gabriel recalled. Underneath Max’s name was a second name, Jane, it had flower stickers bordering it.

Gabriel knocked on the door, "Max! time to wake...up". As he was calling out while opening the door, he got choked up a little as he saw his cute little brother still wrapped in his blankets. With one little leg hanging out the side. He was wearing a set of pyjamas that had pictures of spacemen on them.

Jane was not in the room and her empty bed was already made, as she was an early riser. Gabriel walked up to Max's bed and just looked at him for a little bit while he tried to get a hold of his emotions and slowly watering eyes. He took a deep breath to compose himself and reached out to slowly shake Max to wake him up.

"No... I don't want to go to school Mom.” Max mumbled in his sleep while trying to shrug off Gab's hand.

"Little spaceman, it's time to wake up". Gabriel said while continuing to shake his shoulder.

Max slowly opened his eyes and bleary looked up at Gab. Max cutely stuck out his bottom lip and whined.

"Big brother is mean. I don't want to go to school. The other kids there are mean".

"Ahh Spaceman don't be like that. I'm sorry but Mum told me to come wake you up. Breakfast is almost ready. If you get up I promise I will pick you up from school myself and I'll watch Space Monkeys on T.V. with you when we get home" Gabriel bargained.

Gabriel was acting like he would be doing Max a favor but he was almost as excited as his little brother to hang out together. He didn't spend enough time with Max in his last life and Gab promised himself he was going to make up for it in this one.

"Really!? Let's go!" Max yelled excitedly and kicked off his covers before running out of his room.

"HAHA. Brush your teeth first and put on your school clothes Max!" Gabriel yelled at the fleeing boy.

"Okay!"

While making Max's bed Gabriel chuckled to himself at the sight of Max's antics. Once finished he walked down the hall towards the kitchen. He could hear his Mum lecturing Max about sleeping in. A conversation he remembered hearing plenty of times in his past. Max was a very energetic child but turned into a log when he hopped into bed. More of a behaviour you would expect from his 12-year-old sister, who was just a couple of months shy from turning into a teenager.

Jane was the middle child and the complete opposite of Max and Gabriel, in that she was always up early to help her Mum clean the house and prepare her homework. She was a perfect daughter in every way. Never making trouble for anyone, sadly after Gabriel left home in his past life and cut off most contact with his family, she started to act out.

The main reason Jane studied so hard was to get good enough grades and pass the test to enter into one of the best high schools for young academics in New York. Gabriel recalled she had already passed the test earlier in the week with flying colours but hadn't yet found out whether her parents could afford to send her yet. At this time Gabriel's parents were trying there best to get some more shifts in their perspective work but were having little success.

In the end she had to go to a local high-school, in order to assimilate into her new surroundings Jane started to hang out with the wrong group of kids. Leading to some very rough situations and a shaky relationship with her parents. This time however, Gabriel swore to himself that he would make enough for Jane to go to any school she wants.

Entering the kitchen Gabriel saw his family were already sitting around a small round table in the middle of the dining area, waiting for Gabriel to sit down. He quickly sat down at the free seat across from Jane. Gazing at his little sister, the sides of his lips curled as he saw Jane holding a book in one hand and writing notes in another.

She had her mother's looks but with a slightly paler complexion, attributed to the amount of time she stays in doors. Jane had Ariel's beautiful chestnut eyes. The face still held a little of the baby fat around her cheeks then, making her look adorable to Gabriel's eyes. Long silky hair tied in a ponytail the colour of midnight, almost an exact match to a younger Kristof's. She was currently dressed in her school uniform. Jane looked up after noticing Gabriel gazing at her, with what she used to say was his big goofy grin.

"What's so funny Gab?" she questioned. Never the one for attention, Jane started getting a light blush to her cheeks; making her look even more adorable.

"No reason Jane. Just happy to see you studying so hard before you are even in high school. Our family's little genius, is trying to make Max and me look bad." Teased Gabriel.

Noticing her looking a little flustered from the light jab, he quickly changed the topic, looking over to his mother who was looking at him with a worried face. Ariel was still worried that her son was all torn up inside over Melissa but was putting on a strong front for the family. She however, couldn't be more wrong. Gabriel was the happiest he had ever been in a long time.

"Shall we dig in for breakfast Mum? It smells delicious." Gabriel questioned her.

"Of course! Because of your big day Gab, I made your favorite. Blueberry Pancakes." She excitedly revealed, grabbing the plate of pancakes and topping his plate with a long stack.

"Thanks Mum." Gabriel thanked his mother, before turning to his father.

"Dad, can I borrow the car to go to graduation, I promised Max I will pick him up after he finished school as well." Gabriel asked.

Max was smiling and nodding on the side while stuffing his cheeks with a pancake, making him look like a chipmunk.

"Max don't eat so much at once you could choke" Kristof warned Max before he replied to Gabriel. "Yeah sure thing, due to a new instructor at work, I don't have any sessions today". Kristof sounded a little sad about that last statement but he glossed over it quickly, not wanting to worry the family.

Gabriel heard it but he knew right now he couldn't do much about his father's situation. It actually worked out well for him though, as he needed Kristof to do him a major favour and the more time he had, the better it was for Gabriel. He planned to ask him for that favor tonight though, right at that moment however, he just wanted to enjoy breakfast with his family. Gabriel gazed at his family and started a more casual conversation about simple topics.
