Forest fights

After the cruel suicide of her companion near the flaming barrier, Suri had been hiding while surviving from the berries she found on the way. The forest was huge, and she went way too far from the others. Every day she prayed that the monsters wouldn't find her. Today, it didn't work out, three disgusting goblins had found her. She bolted away immediately, but no matter how much she ran, they managed to catch back up. She screamed for help, but nobody came. When she tripped on a branch, she thought that would be her end. It never came. When she dared to look again, a boy was fighting the monsters. Actually, just decimating them. It was over before she could comprehend what was going on.

The boy approached her. "Hey, I'm Hamon. Are you okay?"

She greeted him with a soft smile. "Thank you, Hamon, I'm Suri." She couldn't be happier, maybe all wasn't lost after all. The boy was strong and would be easy to use due to his age. Not as easy as Carlos was, but those were details.

"I did well, right, Theo?" Hamon smiled wide as he looked towards someone on her side.

"Yes, you did." The man, Theo, smiled almost too faint. He had seen the greed in her eyes. Suri knew men like the back of her hand, and that was definitely not a man that would be blinded by her charm. Since young, her beauty had been her pride, and she knew the power it had. As she got older and more experienced, she discovered that an extra charm could take her a long way. However, the past already taught her the hard way that this tactic would backfire on her. She just needed time. All men, all people, had a weakness. It was only a matter of finding it out and working the right way.

"We can't leave her like that, Theo. Can she stay with us?" Hamon asked with sparkling eyes. The tone making Suri wince, she didn't like being treated as a pet but had no choice right now.

Theo sighed. "Don't worry. If she behaves, I see no problem," he smirked. "We take care of her until we reach a safe place."

"See... Good. Right, Suri? You are with us now. Don't worry, I will protect you." Hamon helped her get up. He was a good head smaller than her, but the strength with which he pulled was a surprise to her.

"Thanks, you two." She brushed her hair off her face and gave them a sweet smile.

She had been staying at their treehouse, as Hamon called it. Hamon teased her about not being able to climb trees, but she brushed it off. Only monsters like them would think climbing such a tree was normal. The bottom was padded with leaves and twigs, there was food, and it was safe. She found it as comfortable as it gets. Eventually, she watched them bringing down another orc who wandered too close by. Their power was more beyond her comprehension than she thought. It wasn't like those people who fought in the cave. Their power could be explained with reason. This was on another level altogether.

When she asked, Hamon explained to her all about the stats, experience, and level. What they had been doing to reach that point. She found a new resolve to stay by their side. If she could leech only a bit off their fights, she would be fine. There was no way she would be able to fight by herself.

On the fifth day, she had another premonition. They were all relaxing when it happened. She started contorting, frowning and sweating.

"Hey, Suri, what's going on?" Hamon shook her with worry.

She couldn't breathe, and that made Hamon even more desperate. "Theo, help! Suri is dying!"

Theo waved his concerns away. "Don't worry, she will come back soon-" He was interrupted by Suri, who stopped struggling and drew a huge breath of air. "I told you she is fine."

Hamon exhaled in relief. "Suri, what happened? We thought you were going to die."

'You thought…' Theo softly mumbled to the side.

Suri eyed both of them. "I'm fine, it was just an episode, I'm epileptic." She softly supported herself on Hamon's shoulders and sat up.

Theo rolled his eyes. "Oh please, don't bother. What is your blessing, show us. You know how to do that much, right?"

She hesitated for a while, but seeing that Theo wouldn't budge, she pulled up her information.

Hamon eyed her attributes with a smirk. “Man, you suck even more than I did. Such a weakling.” However, when he saw her pouting, he quickly tried to excuse himself, flustered. “It’s not like… I… You know I didn’t-”

Theo came to his rescue. “That doesn’t matter. Erratic premonitions…” He pondered.

Hamon perked up on the opportunity to change topics. “What does it do?”

“She has premonitions about the future. The erratic part means she can’t control when, their content, or even if they are real or fake ones. It usually makes people go insane.” He shrugged as Suri winced. “Anyway, what did you see?”

Suri held her legs and stayed silent for a while, but Theo had an expression told her he wouldn’t budge. “I saw you facing a huge orc. You actually didn’t even begin fighting it. It made your eyes get red, tears began dropping down. You tried to resist it, but eventually, you began stabbing yourself with a sword.” Since they trusted her, it was better to prove useful. “I’ve seen it before. By the edge of the forest, there is a red flame wall. A friend who crossed it died just like that, he kept bashing his head on the ground.”

“Good,” Theo nodded, “it seems you have earned your share for now. Hamon, plans have changed. I will be taking all the experience from the orcs from now on.”

“Aye sir!” Hamon saluted him.

“It seems I underestimated the danger here.” Theo looked in the distance.
