《The Soul of MorningStar》Chapter 26 To quote the Plague “It's a secret.” (not edited)

A.N: just finished the chapter. Hope you'll like it.
At hearing my question, Sevarin had a peculiar smile on his face. He threw a glance at Saffron before answering.
“Goddess Althasia is going after us. We lost a few people-”
“A few people? Don't joke with me. It's a freaking massacre. There's only a little over 1000 of you left.”
“We had been attacked and we lost people but now that you are here, everything will be fine.”
“Yes, we will be fine. Our god MorningStar is here to save us.” A man I didn't know shouted. The other people clapped in joy at those words. Their smiles were blinding. Should I bring them down from their high? I meant there was no way that I could save them. I was level 8, what could I do? I was a god but my powers were nothing to write home about compared to the other gods.
“Lies. You sinners will burn in the flames of Hell. Repent and the goddess will save you.”
“Oh stop it! Your goddess is the freaking liar. She said that the power she gave me would heal the disease of my pets but it was a lie.”
She didn't retort anything. Knowing her, there was something fishy going on. She was always Althasia this Althasia that. When I insulted her Goddess, I was sure that she would try to harm me or at the least cursed me until my ears bled out but she stayed silent.
I was suspicious of her behavior but I refused to dwell on it too much, I had bigger problems. I needed to save those guys and I wasn't confident at all about it.
Suddenly, a great idea came to my mind. I laughed out loud at my genius. It was such a great idea that everyone should bow down in front of me. My laughter stopped short as everyone took a step away from me.
“Humph.” I pouted. “Are all my worshipers here?”
“Yes, my god.” Sevarin answered politely but he still looked at me like I had lost it.
“Great! I have something to say. Assemble everyone.”
Sevarin called a man and sent him to do what I asked. He led me to the center of the camp where I waited for everyone to come.
The camp was larger than I thought. Before long, all the residents came in front of me. A lot of them were injured. Their pain was clear on their face. I cast Supreme healing on them. The relief they felt made me feel warm.
I switched to my true form. My long black hair fell behind my back. My red eyes glittered under the fading sun. My alabaster skin looked ethereal. My charm stat were in effect and I was rather attractive if I said so myself.

“I am your god MorningStar. I know that you have been persecuted. I feel your pain. I want to erase it but I am weak, too weak to support you in this world.” There faces blanched at my words. “I have a proposal for all of you, it can lead to a bright future or to total destruction. It all depend on your will to survive.”
“Whatever our god decide, we will follow you!” One man in the distance shouted. I didn't understand their fanaticism toward me. They didn't know who I was. My origins, my personality or anything of the like was a mystery to them.
“Thank you for your support but you should listen before answering. As I said I am too weak to protect you in this world. So let's go somewhere else. Who's interested?” I knew it wasn't the best way to say it but who cared. The words were already out. They all stared at me dumbfounded.
“You want us to go to another world?” Sevarin seeked confirmation.
“Yes.”
“There will be no goddess Althasia?”
“No.”
“Will the other gods agree?”
“Who cares about them? So do you want to leave or not. If you stay, you will die. If you come, you have a fighting chance but it depends on you. So what do you decide.” I knew I should stop smiling but I couldn't stop. I was so proud of my idea.
“Where exactly will we go?”
I couldn't say that I hadn't actually thought that far. I knew that I could take them to another game through the pet system but to which game, I had no idea. The pet system was abysmally simple. There were only a handful of restrictions on the pets. One player could have as many pets as he wanted and from any race he could think of. The only restriction in place was that the pet had to agree to belong to the player. The agreement in itself wasn't hard to get as there were races intended to be pets from the beginning. For the others, it was nearly impossible, so no one bothered too much with it.
Well, I needed something to delay the revelation. Something the Plague often said came to mind. With no other choice, I quoted him.
“It's a secret. I give you two days to decide. ” I said it with the biggest smile I could muster. I went to Saffron, took her by the arm and dragged her with me. “Sevarin, come.” I ordered.
“Yes, my god.” He shook off his pensive mood. The guy had become weirdly obedient since I hit him.

No one had moved since I finished talking. There were all thinking about what I said and one by one they made their decision.
I went to a place relatively empty of people.
“So, what happened to Tion town?” I interrogated the captive priestess as she tried to free herself from my grasp.
“Nothing.” She had a sullen look on her face. Her blond hair was sticking in weird angles around her round face.
“Don't lie to me. No one remember that there was an attack a few days ago.”
“I think I can answer.” Sevarin intervened. I nodded for him to proceed. “A few hours after we left, a white light descended from the sky and swamped the town. After that, the place was whole again. Then, out of the Cathedral, a lot of people came and repopulate the place. None of them were the original townspeople. The few that survived came with us.”
“Why?”
“They saw how strong you were and wanted to follow you.”
“Cut the crap. I want the truth.”
“The bombing after the demons left were from the Church of Althasia.”
“Basically, the Church abandoned them and they latched on you.”
“Yes.”
“So where were you when the townspeople were slaughtered.” I aimed this question at Saffron. She didn't answer. She had a mutinous look that made me smile. I didn't want to force her to talk to me. I should have thought before taking her from the Cathedral. The answers she could give me weren't necessary. And now, I couldn't just bring her back saying that I made a mistake.
I ordered Severin to take care of her. “I'll be back in a while.” I disconnected from the Stavicon and removed the headgear. I needed to think on where I should bring my followers.
I went in the kitchen to cook something to eat. The last few days, I only ate snacks. Just the feeling of cooking gave me a nice feeling and helped me to clear my mind.
My roommates were like dogs. As the smell drifted in the air, one by one they found their way to me. When my dish was finished, they were all drooling over the counter. I stared at them as I ate the food like it was an ambrosia given to me by the gods.
“So have you finished your quest?” Stephan asked me with a surly tone. My not giving him food was getting at him.
“Not yet.”
“What kind of quest is it? If you need help...” Jacob proposed.
“Humph.” I gave him a pointed stare. Did he really think that if I needed help, I would ask him?
“Oh! Great idea!” The plague was back in full force. He gazed at me with a sick smile as he exclaimed. I knew where he was going and I wanted no part of it.
“Oh no! No! No! And no! Just no way. I don't want to.”
I didn't finish my meal and rushed in my room away from them. There was no way that I was going to play with them. My game play until now had been chaotic to say the least. With them, things would get worse.
Back in my room, I laid on my bed. I thought about what I should do. Althasia was out of the question. I wasn't strong enough to fight the gods there. Forgotten Soul? It was still banned. Zombie Apocalypse? It would be just a matter of time before they were contaminated. The other games? But I never even went there.
A knock on my door brought me out of my thoughts. I ignored it at first but the knock was insisting. I sighed and went to see who it was. The Plague had a bright smile on his face like he was hiding something I wouldn't like.
“So... What kind of quest are you doing?”
“None of your business.”
“If you tell me, I'll tell you something you really want to know.”
“Like what?”
“Tell me first.”
I was going to close the door on his face but he blocked it with his body.
“I can guarantee that you really want to know it.”
“I'm just killing time in Zombie Apocalypse.” It wasn't exactly the truth but I wasn't stupid enough to tell him what I was going to do.
Stephan was a little disappointed. “Just so you know, the ban on Forgotten Soul is lifted. After inspection, there was nothing wrong with the game.”
My eyes brightened. It was a godsend to my troubles. Forgotten Soul was an old and unpopular game. No one would notice if a bunch of NPCs from another game showed up. They would even be happy because of the high number of NPCs who died during the wars. And the most important thing, I already had a contact with the main goddess of the place. She even gave me a quest. She wouldn't refuse to help me, right?
“Okay now you can leave.” I pushed Stephan out of my room. He was bemused at my reaction. However, before long, he was laughing out loud. I didn't put too much attention on his behavior. I closed the door after him and got ready to connect to the game.

Agenda of the Villainess
As the daughter of a duke, Lady Alicia Senius expected to awaken her latent magical ability during her Blooming ceremony. She was not expecting her connection to the flowers of Fate to awaken memories of a past life, however, and certainly not memories that were somehow inextricably tied with her future. Now, Alicia must find a way to escape the fatal punishment that is the destiny of a villainous noble girl. In doing so, she might even alter the fate of the whole world. This novel is a steampunk take on the otome villainess genre, heavily inspired by the late Victorian era of England and with a system of magic based around floweral circuitry. If that sounds like your cup of tea, why not give it a shot? Updates on Thursday every week.
