《Kingdoms Online》Chapter 05: The Pretty Kitty

Making his way across the plaza weaving between the people and vendor stalls Rick tried to take it all in. The local vendors had a little of everything for sale on their tables from trash to treasures. Quickly scanning the items displayed on the tables he passed by Rick came across a farmer with a large display of produce for sale. He decided to stop and buy a couple large baskets of mixed variety vegetables a few big bags of flour and small bags of each planting seed he had for sale.
Once I leave this town I will need to train my cooking skill. These vegetables and flour will help out in the wilderness.
One of the perks of having an inventory is that nothing would decay in it. If he left food in there for a year when he brought it back out it would still be fresh. The game is designed to freeze any decay timers until the item is then again removed.
Once again hurrying on after his purchase to quickly find the Cartography Guild fearing he would not get back to the Vardon's tailor shop before closing. He really wanted to get that new outfit and change out of his toga.
Once I get out of this thing I won't feel like the whole city is looking at me.
Eventually finding his way through the plaza he came to the outer building and discovered his destination.
This must be the place a large two-story wood building with a wood banner sign above the double entry doors read Cartography Guild with what must be a guild logo between the two words. Climbing the steps he entered the hall into what reminded him of a doctor's reception area. An overweight, balding man sat behind a large desk near the back of the room busily sorting stacks of scrolls into labeled bins.
My entrance had caught his attention looking up from his task he waved me over to his desk.
"Hello, sir my name is Cedric I was informed that I may purchase a cartography pen and blank map scrolls from your store." [Rick]
"Yes, yes head down that hall right there he pointed to a doorway. That will lead you directly into our public store and you can pay the clerk in there" He told Rick impatient to return to his work.
Rick nodded to him and started straight down the hallway to the store not wasting any time. He informed the clerk of what he wanted and also seen a few other tools that caught his eye. He proceeded to buy the compass, the sextant, ruler, protractor and a bronze collapsable spyglass as well as the cartography pen and a crate of blank scrolls. Placing all the new tools into his inventory Rick pressed on to pick up the finished outfit.
Finally returning to Tailor shop he walked right to the back scanning the shop for Vardon. Finding him at his workstation working on the formal outfit, having apparently completed the first one already.
Vardon handed Rick the completed outfit to examine and try on. Vardon then told him he wished to make a final check that all his measurements worked out once he put it on.

Rick put the outfit in his inventory clicked on it and then equipped it along with the green boots bought to match it.His toga and sandals instantly replaced with the new clothing.
Vardon looked ready to say something when he saw the outfit vanish, then when it materialized replacing the toga his jaw dropped. Rick laughed to himself seeing the stiff and proper Vardon make such a shocked face.
"Sorry about that Vardon I should have warned you, that is a little trick we [Chosen] can use. It is not necessary for us to dress and undress just think of it like a magic spell of sorts we can use"
"I see sir quite handy indeed, now allow me to look over everything." Regaining his composure he began his inspection until satisfied all was in order.
The outfit was made of a thick comfortable material. The seams appear to have all been triple stitched by hand and adorned with a tasteful pattern embossed leather reinforcing the elbows, knees, and shoulders.
It fit him like a well-tailored suit emphasizing his character's powerful looking build.
This looks like a hunting outfit some noble would wear sitting around his hunting lodge in the woods.
"Very impressive Vardon It fits me perfectly and is easy to move in, the craftsmanship in outstanding. I have no experience with sewing and I can even tell it was made to stand up to anything." [Rick]
"Thank you, my shop over the years began to cater to nobles and people of wealth. All of the tailored outfits I create are made from the best materials and craftsmanship. I take pride in my creations and only release high-grade clothing." [Vardon]
"I will keep that in mind for future needs and also will be by later tomorrow to claim the formal wear if that is fine."
Vardon assured me that he had already begun working on it and he would have it ready for pick up.
Noticing the sun low in the sky, from the orange rays streaming in through the front windows He left Vardon's circling around the corner looking for the Inn Jessica divulged to him.
Recalling the name he thought it a little strange for an Inn.
The Pretty Kitty, will it be all pink with cats everywhere?
I know this isn't like older PC games that had game developers think up the names of locations. The NPCs are running this world with little developer interference.
From what I remember reading that the NPCs are all somehow working off a shared AI on a huge server. They might not be advanced as Faith but that doesn't mean they are easy to tell apart from a real person. If you think about it being AI then they really are real people just without an organic body.
Hearing cheerful chatter from ahead spilling out from an open door into the street drew him out of such thoughts.
Stopping to scrutinize the building that had drawn his attention it was quite exquisite.
A well-designed building with ornate woodworkings around the windows and doors. With what appeared to be hand carved flower boxes with colorful flowers hung below shuttered windows. It was painted in soft colors reminding him of Caribbean style homes. A stylish wrought iron hanger next to the door hung a sign with graceful letters reading "The Pretty Kitty."

Standing at the entrance of the Inns main room he thought it resembled a restaurant with tables and chairs neatly spaced apart in the center and booths along the walls. A majestic looking bar stretch across the back with high back cushion stools neatly lined along it.
Busy looking waitresses wearing stylish uniforms sleekly moved between the customers with bright smiles. A decent number of people neatly dressed sat eating meals while some festively drank at the back bar.
Stationed near the door behind a lectern greeting customers as they entered was a woman in a red silk oriental style dress slit up to her hips. She looked to be in her mid-30s and very alluring with long pink hair and green colored eyes. She wore on top of her head a pair of cat ears that matched her hair.
No wait those ears they just moved! This is a nekomimi (cat race) here in the human town!
For some reason, he envisioned the old RPG battle menu for an instant and just shook his head and laughed at himself.
A Catgirl draws near!
command?
FIGHT >> CATCH RUN SPELL
The catgirl then stepped out from the behind lectern to escort a couple to a nearby booth displaying a long white fur tail with a red ribbon tied near the end which swayed with her hips as she walked along.
Now I know how the inn got the name. I have to admit it, that is one Pretty Kitty...
While waiting his turn Rick looked around the well-decorated room, being well lit with tasteful painting on the walls. The floor made of hardwood had an almost mirror polish to it.
"Welcome to the Pretty Kitty I'm the owner, my name is Mia" A voice that seemed to purr was heard right beside him.
Rick slightly jumped at the sudden voice. I never even noticed her approach talk about being light on your feet, is she a damn ninja cat! Alarm bells went off in his head.
Rick's military training told him this catgirl was much more than a dazzling face.
Quickly recovering Rick turned to face her as she watched him with an amused smile.
"Hello, I'm Cedric nice to meet you, Mia. I was in the General store earlier today and your lovely friend Jessica recommended your inn to me if I needed a place to stay."
Mia chuckled giving him a knowing look asking "Jessica sent you over I can see why.
"I have standard rooms with a single bed and I also have a suite with a royal bed and attached bathroom."
"The standard room is 5 silver a day and the suite is 25 silver a day" [Mia]
The suite would be expensive long term but I don't plan on being around town long. Might as well live it up for a few days before I leave town for good. [Rick]
"I will take the suite for a one week for now"
"Excellent choice then please follow me to the check in counter and I will get your room key right away for you" [Mia]
Rick followed Mia and paid her in advance for his room and took the key from her. Mia also informed him that the suite had a dining table so he had the option to have a meal delivered if he so wished. Mia told him the room number and that it was located on the third floor. He thanked her and headed upstairs to his room to check it out and relax for a bit.
Reaching his room he unlocked the door. Then walked into a luxurious room that was larger than he expected. A red draped canopy bed large enough that four people could sleep comfortable was placed between to double doors that opened up to a small balcony with a view of the city.
One side of the room had a dark wood red upholstered victorian style love seat. The other side of the room opposite the loveseat was a red cherry wood captain's desk with a high back chair matching the loveseat. Covering the floor red plush area rugs covered the walkways around the furniture.
The bathroom had a sink toilet and bathtub but no running water. The toilet was basically a long chute that went to the ground floor where some unlucky person got to shovel out. The sink and bath needed to have water poured from water storage containers into them for use.
After investigating the room Rick removed his boots by the door and went to lay on the enormous bed and think of all he wanted to do tomorrow.
I still need to find an armor shop also maybe check out a weapons shop and start studying at the library. Thinking now of books I haven't seen any spell books yet. There must be a mage guild or bookstore that sells them.
I will wait till later to use that cartography skill also, I only have 50 mana and that is how much it cost to use. I figure if I use all my mana at once it will make me feel weakened or knock me right out till it recovers some.
I guess I'll just relax for now and head down in half hour to grab a meal and top off my satiety level.
The room began to grow dark after some time. Rick got up brought out his firestarter to test it out and light the candles around the room. The firestarter had a small red glowing enchantment glyph and when he put his thumb over it a small flame ignited out the top.
This reminds me of a lighter but even easier to use.
The room now took on a cozy feeling illuminated in the candle light. Looking around satisfied he put his boots back on shut and locked behind him.

The Deathseeker [Under Revision]
NOTE: This story has dark elements, but it's neither grimdark nor particularly edgy. It's also currently being revised. Satan's Axe...Lord of High Honor...The Immortal Giant...The Black Maelstrom...Son of Thunderfield...The Gods' Retribution. Dalric had many names. None were as fitting as his last, Dalric the Deathseeker. Born from an unwanted mating between the greatest warriors of the time, death was his only true kin. It birthed him, molded him, and now standing in the middle of a lifeless battlefield, it drenched him. The blood of thousands of soldiers soaked his skin. Two hundred thousand men approached him that day. All of them sought his life, none of them left with theirs. But they would not die in vain, they had accomplished their mission. Hidden beneath a thousand layers of their blood, was Dalric's very own. Feeling his life fade, he gazed weakly at his work. A seemingly endless array of corpses laid battered and disfigured before him. Some bore faces of horror, most had no face at all. His most trusted companion floated in front of him, blocking the view. Waves of sorrow flowed between them. “My time has finally come. I’ve begged for death and it’s finally arrived. My work is done...and so is yours. You’re free to be who you were meant to.” With his contract with the gods fulfilled, they were truly free. The centuries of torment would end. No longer would they have to walk the path of a monster. Little did Dalric know, the devil was in the details. What To Expect: A good time. In a few more words than that, a cast of believable characters in a unique world dealing with conflicts and problems a little bit more complex than punching the big evil guy in the face. Just a little though. Minimum Word Count a Week: 5000 Release Time(s): Between Friday 12pm EST and Monday 6am EST I also write A King in the Clouds

Rise of a Scarlet Devil (Regular+Draft Version)
A young girl slain during a war was brought back to life by some unknown force millennia later. She could only remember a vague face within her memories, uncertain as to who it was but there was one thing she did know. She needed to kill that person. But she was too weak, she needed to hide, to grow. She needed to flee from the battlefield her enemy reigns over. And to do so, she needed to run eastward, towards Helios, a safe haven for those who have lost their homes in the war. And where she would grow to become the strongest Hunter under her own strength. What was it that brought her back? Only time will tell. #Author's Note The novel is organized like this:Regular Chapters (Act, Title, Part (ranging from 1 to 9))Draft Chapter DisclaimerDraft Chapters (Entry Number, Perspective, Title, Part (ranging from i to ii)) Regular chapters are edited chapters that reflect the story aspect more while Draft chapters reflect plot progression more. An occasional interactive chapter will appear in the drafts but nowhere in the regular chapters. Expect changes when reading between Regular and Draft chapters as some events in the story may change in length or entirely removed/changed. Only read the draft version if you want a future view and/or opinion on the story and design elements. The main character is a human from a fantasy world reincarnated as a devil. The story possesses Reincarnators, Transmigrators, and Summoned Persons. though mainly focusing on Magic and other abilities such as Aura and Skills. Wizards (those who prepare arcane spells) and Mages (those who use elemental magic) are separate but seen as the same by common inhabitants of the world but clearly defined as different by more influential persons and by the circles themselves. The main character WILL not be a Mage or Wizard but will incorporate mana into her attacks to aid her as does any high-rank combatants. The system in the novel quantifies a person's abilities and keeps record of them but does not define natural ability, occasionally granting special abilities as skills to a person once prerequisites are met. There is no leveling system and no occupational systems in the novel featuring only a stat based and skill based system. Also, this novel is my first and will most likely be trash.

Super Sekken (An Action Shonen Story)
This is the author’s first story ever written. It may not be great, but do check it out, and I hope you enjoy! I’m currently working on its sequel. Hope. Courage. Self-value. Friends. These all were traits that former junior high soccer champion and first year Miyuki Sekken had none of until she first walked into the doors of her local High School. Despite being a sports athlete phenomenon in her school district, Miyuki dreaded its attention, and even quit her career in pursuit of living a simplistic daily routine. This daily routine would be inevitably interrupted when she chooses to 'branch out' by talking to people. Whether it be a chance of bad luck, fate, or karma, Sekken ends up speaking to someone who was unknowingly suffering from a curse: a curse that causes anyone who tries to get close to them to disappear. Miyuki Sekken would be the next victim, finding herself face-to-face against a once-thought mythical mafia. This gang is not just any gang either, but one who is run solely by the school students of Maguro High, who hold secrets to powers unheard of by the world. How will this first year survive? Will she conquer her anxiety and thwart the gang's vicious rule? Or will she end up losing more than she could have imagined? P.S. I am not a good drawer, so I use Picrews and photo editors to get the general idea for my characters' designs. Rights to the Picrews used go to their respective authors.
