《Vacation of a God》Chapter 7

It was morning and the sun was shining brightly. Slowly opening my eyes I see a pair of crystal blue eyes staring back at me.
“Good morning.” (Skyler)
Watching Angelica get flustered I couldn’t help but smile. My smile definitely didn’t help as she started blushing even more.
“Good morning, what are we going to do today?” She said obviously trying to hide her embarrassment.
I wanted to tease her more but decided not to overdo it. Playing along I let her lead the conversation.
“I want to adventure today, we might be S rank but we have no credibility. What about you? Is there something you want to do today?” (Skyler)
“Umm, I also want to do a quest, but I fear all the interesting ones might be taken by the time we get to the guild” she said dejected.
“Hmm… You’re right we should get going soon maybe we’ll get lucky.” (Skyler)
As I was still holding Angelica in my arms I slowly let go of her to get out of bed. I pretended not to see her looking disappointed.
“Yh we should” (Angelica)
Getting up I equip my armour and head downstairs. We decide to have a meal at the inn before heading to the adventurer’s guild. Taking a look around at the people eating here I see that the majority of the room was filled with humans. There was still a few beastman mixed in too. It looks like elves are a rare sight in the human kingdom. It would also explain why a lot of people keep glancing at my ears.
Finishing our meal we head to adventurers guild. With our golden badges already equipped we head over to the quest board. Again we were ignoring the constant stares we kept receiving. The quest board was full of subjugation and escort quests. Most of the subjugation quests had no time limit especially the lower ranked quests. The higher ranked quests however would usually ask for more specific monsters and also come with a time limit. The escort quests as one would expect were about escorting people like merchants to different cities. Failing a quest would drop your credibility and failing several can will drop your rank.

We decided to pick a subjugation quest. The quest was recently posted and was of higher rank. The quest had a one week time limit and was marked as urgent with a high gold reward.
“Subjugating a nest of wyverns. Should be perfect to test myself.” (Skyler)
“It’s not too far from here either, we should get our hands on a map too. Knowing our surroundings would help.” (Angelica)
Taking the quest sheet from the board we head over to Samantha who was at the receptionist desk.
“Hi there how may I help you two today?” (Samantha)
“We would like to take this quest, and do you sell maps here?” (Angelica)
“Wow taking an S rank quest straight away good luck! We do sell maps here too for a couple of silvers.” (Samantha)
When Samantha registered the quest our badges gave of a light as confirmation. Next she handed us a map of the surrounding area. The nest of wyverns was in a rocky area deep within the forest we originally came from. Of course with our speed the quest would be finished rather quickly.
Leaving the adventurers guild we headed straight for the forest. It took us a few minutes to leave the city and enter the forest. The forest was the same as last time. The sunlight was unable to light up the forest floor making it look eerie and unaproachable.
Traveling further and further into the forest we started to approach the nest of wyverns. The quest gave the information that there was 7 wyverns and luckily for us they were all here. It looks like they were all feeding. I should be able to catch them off guard not that I need to worry but just in case. If my magic fails I’ll be able to cast more than once before having to slaughter them the old fashioned way.

Carefully approaching the wyverns I take the lead. Angelica was being overprotective and sticking close to me. The wyverns made their nest on a cliff at the base of a mountain. As we needed the bodies of the wyverns I decided to use wind magic.
There are many ways to use mana, divine beings would normally manipulate mana by speaking the ancient language. The language itself uses and allows one to control mana, for example saying the word shine would cause my body to shine. The stronger the person is the stronger the effect. In my case anyone looking at me while I casted shine would go blind. The drawback of this type of magic casting is that holding back was difficult. Only Ancient and divine beings are able to speak the language. Mortals would be unable to understand what they are hearing.
Alternatively one can also use their imagination. Of course this is weaker and the people who live in Eremel use this type of casting. Another drawback of this type of mana casting is that it takes too long to cast a spell as one would need to chant an incantation.
Personally I combine the two. With the power of the ancient language and the imagination i am able to shape the spell as i want and add as much power as i need, I clearly get the best of both. The only other person who can do this other than me is the Goddess of magic Hecate.
Holding my hand out I start to chant in the ancient language {Wind slash}
Multiple blades of wind form around my hand and head straight for the necks of each wyvern. The blades of wind break the sound barrier and decapitate the wyverns in the blink of an eye, but it’s not over yet. The blades continue on their path of destruction and I realised I put in way too much power.
BOOM!
“Shit” (Skyler)
The mountain that once stood tall is now barely standing at all. I felt a little bit of guilt pointlessly massacring all life on the mountain that used to be. Ending life for no reason was not my style. Of course if something deserves my wrath I won’t hold back, I am the god of destruction for a reason.
“I’m sure I held back.” I said with a wry smile.
Looking back at the devastation I caused I promised myself that I would hold back even more.
“Haha lets skin and dismantle the bodies.” I said with an awkward smile. It took us an hour to fully dismantle all the materials from the wyverns. When we were done we decided to head back to the city.
Looking back over my shoulder one more time I decide to use some of my divine powers.
{Soul Scan}
Scanning all the souls that were slaughtered on the mountain I see they were all beasts and no sentient lives were harmed or taken.
We return on our journey back towards the city once again.

A Wheel Inside a Wheel
Two brilliant young me, Reinhard von Musel and Yang Wen-li, are forced to flee the countries of their birth and become refugees on opposite sides of a century long galactic war. While they both struggle to adapt to their new lives, their obvious talent propels them to the forefront of the war. Their choices will shape their adoptive homelands forever, and their clash will decide the future of the galaxy. This story is broken up into volumes, each following one half of the conflict. You can read them in chronological order, or you can follow just Yang or Reinhard. See individual descriptions below. Part One - Speaking in Tongues When Yang Wen-li’s father dies, the only thing that he inherits is a mountain of debt, which can only be paid off with fifteen years of his life. Wanting to escape that indentured servitude, Yang flees his homeland and takes up a false identity in the Galactic Empire, a hyper-stratified society where stepping out of line is punishable with imprisonment or death. Yang enrolls in the Imperial Officers’ Academy to study history, but despite his unusual and unmistakeable talent as both a tactician and a scholar, his classmates resent him for being a visible outsider. When tensions at the school boil over and several of Yang’s classmates attempt to murder him, Yang finds an unlikely ally in the top student in the class: the aloof Oskar von Reuenthal. But Reuenthal and Yang both have secrets, secrets which could destroy both their lives and their newfound friendship.
