《Vacation of a God》Chapter 4

I woke up to the sound of crackling fire and the smell of food.
“Something smells delicious.”
I cleaned myself and my clothes with a snap of my fingers and walked outside.
I saw Angelica sat by the campfire, she had cooked up food she had stored in her storage ring. Primordial dragon meat, the aroma alone would make any man drool. After eating Angelica stored all of our belongings and we prepared for our journey.
“My lord, I scouted the immediate area. The area around here is surrounded by forests for tens of miles.”
“Hmm… Is there any indications of intelligent life nearby?”
“Yes my lord, there is a road to the west of our location.”
We started walking towards the road Angelica had found. The forest itself was dark as the sunshine couldn’t penetrate the canopy. After walking for a few minutes we arrived at the road. The road was worn down and was abandoned. We now had a choice to make, which way would we go, north or south.
“Hmm, let’s go north just a gut feeling.” I said with a smile.
We started to run north, we didn’t run as fast as we could as that would leave a path of destruction in our trail. We ran for a couple miles and the road became less and less maintained. Eventually the trail ended, however the forest was also getting thinner. I decided that we should continue going in the same direction and eventually we came to another clearing.
Suddenly my perfect hearing picked up the sound of twigs snapping behind us. Angelica had a slightly slower reaction, but she also turned the same way.
Damn I have no weapon suitable for the mortal world, unless I want to cause mass destruction. If this is an enemy I’m going to have to use my good old fashioned fists. I thought with a smirk.
Angelica turned her head towards me and slightly nodded her head.
“I guess you want to test your new weapons” I said with a chuckle.
Angelica smiled and pinched the end of her finger tips with her nails drawing blood. With her blood drawn she made two crimson red daggers. The curved daggers resembled a karambit knife, but with longer blades.
The rustling got louder and then suddenly stopped. The forest became deathly silent.
“It’s coming.” I smiled.
The creature causing the sound pounced towards Angelica. A move that would only end its life. Angelica thrusted her dagger and sliced the creature in half. The cut was so clean blood only started to spill after the body hit the floor.

We both kept our guard up and checked what had attacked us. The creature was a black panther with huge teeth and claws. We still had our guard up but decided it was alone and prepared to move on.
“My lord, should we skin the panther and store its meat. It might come in useful if we find a town or city.”
“Good idea, we should be able to sell the materials later and see this world’s currency.”
Angelica dissolved her daggers and conjured a carving knife from the panther’s blood. She skinned the panther and stored the materials in her ring. Before we moved on Angelica absorbed all the blood on the ground, making it look like the panther never existed.
We continued our journey northwards and came across several carriages and caravans heading in the same direction. Soon we came upon a city. The city itself was surrounded by strong walls towering high. The gate at the front was manned by guards checking people’s identities.
“I can see them using a crystal ball, I’m guessing they are checking people’s statuses to see if they have any criminal records.”
“My lord, we could just jump over the wall, or we could change our status.”
“Other than being divine beings I don’t see a reason to hide ourselves do you?” I said with a bright smile. “Also Angelica calling me ‘lord’ may cause people to misunderstand my status in human society, just call my Skyler, before I had no name so I put up with it, but now I have chosen a name and as my right hand you should use my name.”
Angelica’s was speechless, she felt proud being acknowledged as his right hand, but she also felt conflicted as the person in front of her stood on top of everything. Casually addressing him was this ok? Was she overthinking this? She didn’t know what to think,
Noticing her expression I started patting her head giving her confirmation and saw her face blooming into a smile. We once again started walking towards the gate.
Skyler and Angelica walked towards the gate. They gathered a lot of attention from their surroundings just because of their precense. The people waiting in line subconsciously gave way to the pair. The rest gathered looking to see what the commotion was about. Instead they discovered a beautiful male elf walking along side a gorgeous woman. The elf had perfect facial features that made him look like a doll. His silvery white hair was flowing gracefully in the wind. He was tall, handsome and walked with confidence catching the eyes of all around him. If he had hidden his ears most of the croud would have thought of him as a noble.

The gorgeous woman that was walking alongside the elf had crimson hair flowing like fire. Bright blue eyes clear as the sky. Some guys where drooling at the sight. There was even a wife fighting with her husband as he was staring too long.
The guard dealing with people entering the gates noticed the commotion happening in line. He automatically assumed a high priority person was about to enter the city. As he saw no fancy carriage he assumed the commotion was about well-known adventurers instead of a noble. The guards got ready to receive the adventurers as they wanted their entry to be as smooth as possible. When the ones of interest came into view the guards saw an elf and a human. He had never heard or seen this duo, and with their level of beauty they would definitley be well-known and remembered. Because of their unknown origins the guards didn’t know how to proceed. They decided to treat them as adventurers. The guards where positive that the pair were adventurers and not emissaries or nobles from another country. This is because they would have been surrounded by guards and would definitely have a carriage.
The guard meeting the pair was nervous, he had never seen such a perfect couple. He walked over to them with a stiff posture.
“Good day s-sir, m-madam. Welcome to the city of Zeah, do you have any identification on you?”
“Unfortunately we don’t have any identification.” Spoke Angelica.
The guard looked stunned for a moment then snapped out of his daze.
“Sir, madam please follow me.”
The nervous guard took the two adventurers to the crystal ball. The ball was in a sectioned off area which was easy to access. The crystal ball was manned by a mage wearing blue robes.
The mage himself also became stunned at the appearance of his next visitors. By the time he recovered they were right next to him. The guard told the mage that the visitors had no identification so they had to use the crystal ball.
Angelica went first to use the crystal ball. The mage manning the ball became gobsmacked with his mouth open wide.
Status Screen Name Angelica Race Vampire Princess Age N/A Titles - Achievements Mastery of the Sword Blade Dancer Mastery of Unarmed Combat Mastery of Stealth One Woman Army Combat Genius
Vampires themselves where rare to find, seeing one in the light of day was preposterous. Meeting a vampire princess however wouldn’t even happen in a lifetime, and the mage was staring at one right in front of him. Meeting a vampire princess was amazing in itself but the mage forgot to breath when reading through the titles/achievements. What kind of monster was infront of him. Achieving any one of these titles would take a lifetime of hard work and she has several!
Vampires were not a hated race in Eremel. A vampire could feed on another person as long as they had consent. Without consent vampires would be automatically branded as criminals by the system and then would be hunted down by other vampires or adventurers.
Before the mage could say or do anything else the elf walked up to the ball. The mage wasn’t expecting a mind blowing status from the elf, he thought that he couldn’t be shocked any further.
Status Screen Name Skyler Race High Elf Age N/A Titles - Achievements Mastery of the Sword Mastery of Crafting Mastery of Enchanting Mastery of Blacksmithing The Feared One Man Army The Respected Mastery of Magic Mastery of Unarmed Combat
The mage thought he was hallucinating. A high elf no way. He started rubbing his eyes totally forgetting about Skyler. A high elf was just as rare as a vampire princess. When he read it again it was the same. The titles and anchievements nearly gave the mage a heart attack. Not one but two monsters!
The high elf and vampire princess were free to go. The mage and guard where shocked at what just happened and couldnt move an inch. All they could do was stare at the two as they continued to enter the city of Zeah.

To reject whomever I want, whenever I want." Tahlisa's gaze became more intent and she moved close to her rescuer. "Say you had that power, right here, right now. What would you do?" Saelina smiled cruelly. It was a wholly new expression, yet it somehow made her features terrifyingly beautiful, Tahlisa realized. Runicka: Tournament of Monsters (A GameLit Card Game Fantasy)
The runes are changing, and with it, the game itself changes. Taygion Ardwella finds himself stranded, alone, and on the run from some very determined guards who claim Tay's stolen from them. They're right, but that shouldn't mean Tay has to give back what he took. He's only been in Stormwall for a week and already, he's earning the ire of the most powerful and notorious House that controls the city's underground. And when their scion challenges Tay to a duel of cards, Tay will find himself thrust into a game of sorcery and strategy as he attempts to both find a way out of this mess and find his own way in the world. To do both, he'll need to learn to accept guidance and coaching where it's sorely needed, craft a deck of unimaginable power, and not die whenever his opponents try and cheat him out of a hard-earn victory. But not all is as it seems in the shadows of Stormwall, and if Tay can figure out the importance of what it is he's stolen, he may just have a chance at saving the game of Runicka. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Runicka: Tournament of Monsters is a high fantasy, card game-based adventure novel with enough magic, worldbuilding, and characters to fill a Sanderson series. I would consider it a part of the GameLit subgenre. This series in particular is not an isekai, and will start and end in a high fantasy setting complete with its own lore and backstory. It is a progression fantasy, and I am writing it inspired by all the Yu-Gi-Oh mangas/animes, and all the hours I've invested/wasted (depending on who you ask) playing TCGs like Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic: The Gathering. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is a work in progress. In your journey through Stormwall alongside Tay, you'll probably find typos, grammatical errors, and maybe a confusing sentence every once in a while (although I hope to keep these to a minimum). That said, comments and suggestions on where I can improve are not only encouraged but greatly appreciated. And finally, expect new chapters every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~**Currently on a small hiatus. I have a bit of a workplace crisis going on. I'm still writing, but I don't have time to polish and publish. Chapters will return on a regular basis soon though!!**
