《Hybrid Summoner》Chapter 5- Dungeon Diving

Once they were sure the area was clear they slowly entered the long and dimly lit creepy tunnel, with the screams getting increasingly loud. Soon they rounded the only corner in the ridiculously long passage and he was immediately floored by the sight. Orcs and a lot of them. The tunnel opened up into a massive cave bigger than the superbowl stadium and nearly a hundred feet high. Everywhere he looked there was a mass of green skinned bodies at least six feet tall with giant clubs sitting in groups around small fire pits or walking around. At the very back he could see two orcs even bigger than the rest standing beside some sort of altar.
Another scream ripped through the air and he saw a man tied down to the altar with a knife sticking out of his chest. The altar suddenly lit up with a bloody glow and the spurting blood seemed to get sucked into the stone table as the man withered into a husk right before his eyes. There was a flash and a fist sized crystal he hadn’t noticed before started glowing brightly right above the altar. Ducking back into the tunnel he turned and said to the girls. “Yeah were probably screwed. Orks aren’t something you can handle i don’t think, I might be able but certainly not in these numbers and I doubt you guys are ready. So here’s what we’ll do, me and my summons will create a distraction while you guys free the captives. Once their free you get them out of here.”
Without waiting for a reply and so he wouldn’t lose his nerve he quickly snuck around the edge of the cave using the boulders strewn around as cover. Crouching behind the last boulder about forty feet from the entrance he focused harder than he ever had before. Come on THINK. The system told you that this class specialises in summoning one big badass monster instead of hordes of weak fuckers. So why did it only give you goblins and freaking imps for that purpose. In any game or book their the lowest tier of monster so what is it saying? What is the hint here? Logically speaking it was giving the basic understanding of how to summon and telling me to figure it out on my own.
But the whole process only felt like I was calling something but failed and those little things came instead. With a click it all made sense. Humans didn’t know that sort of thing at birth so the system had given an instinctive feel for it. And his instinct was he needed more power. He heard a grunt of surprise off to his left and threw everything into willing an enormous portal into existence. With a sound like breaking glass a rift in space opened directly in front of him, right in front of the wall that was about five feet away. Feeling like he was about to collapse as all his strength left him he used one last heave to pull the monster through.
Almost twenty feet tall and ten feet wide with enormous corded muscles and slate grey skin that made him think of nothing so much as a brick shit house. Over it’s chest, and legs were blackened metal he couldn’t place. Instantly he felt the connection to this thing as well as how strong it was, almost in synch a notification appeared.
You have summoned a Juvenile War Troll lvl 1,549

Gifted with massive size, and strength as well as incredible regeneration at birth with none of their ancestors weakness to sunlight these massive behemoths also have incredibly slow growth rates. You have now learned what you must do to advance your understanding of your class and grow in power.
You have learned the new summon ‘Juvenile War Troll’
While everyone was suddenly looking his way and still stunned at the sudden appearance he suddenly ordered “Attack the orcs. Leave none alive.” and so the slaughter began as the beast grabbed two nearby orcs and started using them as weapons. Bodies suddenly started flying and raining from the sky and he actually got another notification when he intently tried to examine one of the nearby orks.
Ability Analyze has been learned
Orc Soldier lvl 768
A typical orc shock trooper with high vitality and strength. Hard to kill and hits like a truck these beasts are exceedingly stupid and rely mostly on instinct and a hierarchical clan structure to follow orders.
With growing dread he turned his analyze ability on the two bigger orcs who were just coming out of their daze by the altar.
Orc Chieftain lvl 1,487
An veteran Orc who has taken over the tribe and learned the value of tactics and strategy. This Orc cannot be put in the same category as an ordinary Orc and has survived years of life and death battles.
Orc Shaman lvl 1,515
An Orc skilled in the ways of magic. This Orc is the secondary leader and spiritual support of any tribe. They are responsible for communing with their chosen deity and often sacrifice living creatures in exchange for power granted by their god.
Good God Almighty and i thought i was overpowered yet now a measly freaking Orc is about to put the smack down on my ass. If games are still applicable then Orc could only be said to be common mobs at best. This was a really bad fucking idea. He felt the blood drain from his face and did his best impersonation of a rock as he waited for his summon to die. After a few minutes of listening to the screams he peeked out again and nearly lost his jaw for the second time that day.
The Orcs were getting freaking steam rolled and the only one who didn’t get one shotted was the chieftain who was getting buffed and healed by the shaman. Looking around he saw a well concealed alcove on the opposite side had people streaming out of it headed for the exit. Taking a chance he watched carefully as the shaman casted his magic and focused all his senses on him. Every time he casted he would chant real quick then a pillar of fire or bolt of electricity would fly and scorch the troll.
The spells were certainly strong but he could only watch as almost immediately after the attack landed the wound would begin to heal. With every spell that was casted he could feel himself get closer to understanding the magic the shaman used. After almost an hour he suddenly understood like a child seeing fireworks for the first time. Mana was really just a physical manifestation of will and it was not much different than his soul energy, imposing your will itself upon reality to have the elements do your bidding was the meaning of being a magician.
With a burst of comprehension he felt the mana in the air, the ground, and all around him suddenly rush into his body. It was like a gateway had suddenly opened and an additional source of energy filled his body just his soul energy did when this all started. Unlike soul energy which he visualized as a light grey he pictured this energy as a pure blue color. As he suddenly felt the power he condensed it all into a spear of ice in his right hand.

He poured more and more until he started to feel dizzy again. With one quick look he launched it with all his might at the shaman. The shaman only had enough time abandon its current spell and cross it arms to defend itself. But it was no use as the spear passed straight through and nailed it to the pillar of the altar right behind it. It slowly raised its head and locked eyes with him. He saw the shock, pain, and disbelief in its eyes as blood spurted from it’s mouth and the shine faded from its eyes.
Without the shamans support the Chieftain fell only minutes later and rest or the orcs were already long dead by that point. As soon as the chieftain fell he got yet another surprise
Ding
Dungeon of Green Sacrifice cleared
For clearing a dungeon above your level solo you have earned a bonus for your random reward for this dungeon. Claim your reward. Reward based with preference toward class ability.
Preference? Random reward? After all that? Almost without meaning too his eyes went to the glowing crystal that was now shining with a burning red light. Fuck. my lucks always been total shit when it comes to games of chance. He sighed as he walked up to the altar. Well no matter how shitty it is I got absolutely nothing right now so it won't be completely useless. Reaching out his hand he could feel the warmth that bordered on hot coming from the crystal. As his hand closed around it he answered the prompt to claim it as yes.
Ding
Congratulations you have earned the skill Soul/Mana Conversion
Due to having a class that deals primarily with the soul this skill will grant you the insight to allow your body to naturally hold mana equal to that of your soul mass. But your body will no longer absorb mana passively and must be actively absorbed.
Well holy fuck maybe my luck is turning around in this crazy ass world. With a quick thought to learn the skill he felt the mana flood his system and once again he felt like he was high on drugs but the fight had clearly shown him that while yes he may be over the top in levels and unbelievably powerful that was only by human standards and they were now very far from the top of the food chain in this new and crazy world. And also that levels only seemed to be a rough approximation of a creatures strength, like his new war troll and the orcs. The war trolls ridiculous regeneration was the only thing that saved him from death.
The orcs were faster, stronger, and new magic along with skills. The only reason his troll won is because they couldn’t hurt him faster than he self healed. Even without his interference they would have eventually been worn down and out of mana and he only hastened the victory. Still he was exceedingly lucky he managed to summon a creature both strong enough and tanky enough to do the job. The more he stood and thought about it the more incredible his victory seemed.
With a sigh he turned and nearly jumped out of his skin again. Where the fuck did the bodies go? The hundreds of orc corpses in the cave had disappeared into thin air with only a few pieces of equipment strewn about. He walked up to where the shaman's body was and saw a ring, a couple glass vials with some red liquid in it, and what looked like some kind of ceremonial knife. As if on its own accord another screen popped up
Ding
You have gained a dimensional ring
You have gained a health potion x4
You have gained a Sacrificial Dagger
He quickly put the ring on and got another prompt.
Do you want to activate the auto loot function?
With a quick yes he suddenly saw all the items and equipment that were laying on the floor turn into streaks of light and were sucked into the ring. He heard continuous dings going off in his head but he ignored it and instead kept going through the battle notifications.
Breakthrough for the class Grand Summoner has been achieved
You have achieved a breakthrough without help from a master, skill book, guide or any form of outside outside interference. You have distinguished yourself as the forerunner for your class and earned the bonus skill ‘Summon Meister’.
You have earned the skill ‘Summon Meister’
This ability allows you to transform those you summon into a alternate item form suited for them. This ability binds the creature to your soul and empowers them to have greater effects than they would normally have. However the creature itself must be willing or you will be cursed instead.
Level up x160
You have learned the skill ‘Ice Spear’
Hmm yeah the levels are probably for doing everything pretty much solo and mostly from the bosses. Ice Spear is obvious and the Summon Meister i would guess is for just like it said. Understanding what the hell i’m doing without a teacher or help. Overall it's pretty straightforward so let's see what this skill is cracked up to be.
Turning to his new War Troll he asked “Do you want to be bound to me?” As he asked he got the feeling that it was measuring him somehow even though its expression didn’t change. Finally he saw it nod slightly and started to glow. After a few seconds it was so bright he had to shield his eyes, then he felt something heavy on his shoulders but when he looked down he now saw that he was wearing what looked like a leather sleeveless chest armor that felt custom fitted to him and he could feel the immense vitality flowing threw himself. The prompt even showed up to confirm it.
Ding
You have Equipped Vestment of the War Troll
Vestment of the War Troll
This chest armor is the alternate form of the Juvenile War Troll Farken and because he was under no form of coercion and is still living he has imbued the skill War Trolls Aegis into this armor which grants the passive skills Iron Skin and Grand regeneration.(Grants passive health regeneration of 10% per minute)
