《Reincarnated as a Troll in a Dark Fantasy World》Intermission: Lecture on Stat Points
Advertisement
I'm so happy I could fly in the sky! Master entrusted me with the lecture for new adventurer apprentices! The class is in Session! Teacher Marcy here! Wow, I'm awesome! I'm gonna ace this lecture and show Master my worth! Straight into the heart like an arrow!
"All right, silence! We are in session! Shut up rabble! Is this the new generation of adventurers? I weep for the town!" These kids can't hold still even if their lives depended on it.
"Hey Marcy, jump for us!" "Yeah, jump up and down!" Boys. Just because I grew up a bit earlier than the other girls they try to harass me. Yes, they are here and they are not for the likes of you. Deal with it.
"Anyone want to take a special 'Rowdy' course? Because there is a test and anyone that does not pass will earn a week-long training camp with our buddy Rowdy. Now shut up and listen.
Today's lecture is about stat points. Each one of us has three stats:
Prowess: Physical Strength, Hitpoints or HP, and Resilience. This is the stat for warriors.
Agility: Reflexes, Manual Dexterity, Quickness, and Stamina. Scouts get lots of agility but it is important for everyone because it rules chances to hit and to avoid being hit.
Magic: Basic resistance against hostile magic, the power of spells, and Magic points or MP. Magicians need lots of Magic.
Everyone stats is more or like equal, that depends on your job and level! Some people with a great aptitude for one or another kind of job may have two or three points more in one to get the same amount in another.
What this means, does anyone know?"
"It means Marcy has two extra points that nobody else here has!" Ah, this boy, I will kill him.
"Julius, you don't need to do the test. You are going to train one week with uncle Rowdy. Congratulations!"
Helen raises a timid hand. Oh, my sweet friend. "May I speak, teacher?" How cute can a girl be? I want to cuddle her!
"Of course, apprentice magician. Speak up." I have to keep the act. I am the teacher, not a friend right now.
"It means that all of us have equal opportunities to grow!" She answers spot-on with a smile.
Harassment comes and the usual insults are thrown around. Winter child, coughing girl.

"You are right, magician Helen. Also, Gunther, Oswald, Leonard, you are joining Julius in the Rowdy camp. Rowdy will be very happy. He gets paid per pupil. From your masters. Good luck."
Julius is also congratulating Helen. Backoff pervert. She is not for the likes of you.
"Bitch! Just because you jiggle those jugs at the Guild Master you think you are better than us!" And there goes Gunther out of the lecture room. Good riddance. I'm failing you.
"Anyone else wants to leave? The door to FAIL is open. Please do." Without this mandatory lecture, you cannot get your guild card at the end of your term. Jerks.
Nobody else talked or moved, so I continued with the lecture.
"How many stat points does a newborn baby with the villager job has?"
"Thirty" everyone answers.
"How many stat points does a level 1 apprentice job tier 2 has? If you open status you are also joining the boys on Rowdy's special."
"Thirty-two?" Helen says in a faint voice.
"Correct. Now a tier 3 adventurer job, how many at level 1?"
"Thirty-four!" Cloude shouts in a hurry. Why can't all the boys be nice like Cloude? He is almost a girl in the niceness department. See? He can make a nice smile. He also almost never harasses me.
"Tier four advanced job?"
"Thirty-six!" Another girl with auburn hair and freckles answers from the back row. Why there are only three girls in this class of twenty-plus? Why are they so focused on marriage and children? I'd marry Master if he asked, right. But I want to have some adventure before settling down. Maybe make some money and build a nest. It would be good to live in a nice house.
"Tier five champion job?"
"Doh, thirty-eight. It is basic math."
"Basic math you failed at, Julius. I didn't hear you answer the first questions. However, good job figuring it out after only 3 tries. Moving on, how many stat points a villager gets every 5 levels?"
"Three!" Julius answers again.
"Correct. I might take you out of Rowdy's special lecture if you answer the next one too! How many stat points a level 5 apprentice gained from the level 1 stats? Subtraction people. Check your status if you are level 5 already!"
"Six!" Cloude answers after looking at something. I see someone has been killing their rabbits, right?

"And each tier gets two extra stat points every five levels, spread out in those levels. Remember that. A higher tier is always more powerful even if your stats take a drop after changing jobs! They also give more skill points, right? how many skill points for each tier?"
"Double the tier minus one. This is why villagers get a shitty SP per level." They recite the mantra. Nobody wants to be a villager. It sucks, period.
"Correct. There is nothing good from being a villager past level 5. Now, does anyone know what the forty - thirty-four rule says?"
"The amount of Exp required to reach level forty in a lower tier job is the same amount to reach level thirty-four in the tier immediately above that!"
"Yes, thank you apprentice magician Helen. See guys? Read your damn books."
"This ends our lecture. Now Alisha will hand the test over. Alisha, please!" I take my own seat. I also need to take that test to get my credentials, but I am already an honorary receptionist.
Deal with it, world! Awesome Marcy is here and she means business!
Intermission End.
WARNING: VERY Technical LitRPG stuff below. Stop reading if it does not interest you.
The table below holds true for both humans' jobs and monsters' racial levels. The pattern repeats every 5 levels.
Job Tier 1 (Villager) 2 (Apprentice) 3 (Adventurer) 4 (Advanced) 5 (Champion) 6 (????????) 7 (????????? !! ???) Level 1 SP / level 3 SP / level 5 SP / level 7 SP / level 9 SP / level 11 SP / level 13 SP / level 1 (*) 15 17 19 21 23 25 27 2 0 1 2 2 3 3 4 3 0 3 4 5 6 7 8 4 0 4 6 7 9 10 12 5 3 6 8 10 12 14 16 6 3 7 9 12 14 16 19 7 3 8 11 14 17 19 22 8 3 10 13 16 19 22 26 9 3 11 15 18 22 25 29 10 6 12 16 20 24 28 32
(*) Humans get 15 basic stat points, usually distributed 5, 5, 5 between Prowess, Agility, and Magic. Some exceptional cases exist, like Helen's 3, 5, 7 or Marcy's 5, 6, 4. One or two points might not mean much further down the road, but at the beginning of one's life (and the twisted customs and superstitions of the world), it means a preset path from birth. Please note that monsters do not get 15 basic stat points. The rules for monsters at first level are different. See next section.
The 1 ~ 5 progression is slightly skewered because of the level 1 points. levels 11 ~ 15 and every five below repeat the pattern for levels 6 ~ 10.
The level 1 stats are not added to the calculation of inactive jobs' status conversion (and the Super Villager's [Status Conversion UP] skill).
Monster stats at level 1: Monsters don't get jobs, but they are usually stronger than a human. Even a level 1 tier 1 monster is stronger than a villager. Monsters get 3x the stat points at 1st level.
Sample monsters below (all at level 1 - basically a newly spawned monster):
Race: Wolf Racial Tier 1 Monster Ranking: G Prowess: 17 (HP: 34) Agility 20 (Stamina: 20) Magic: 8 ( No MP) Race: Devil Monkey Racial Tier 2 Monster Ranking: F Prowess: 23 (HP: 46) Agility 20 (Stamina: 20) Magic: 9 (No MP) Race: Troll Racial Tier 3 Monster Ranking: B Prowess: 37 (HP: 144) Agility 15 (Stamina: 30) Magic: 5 Tough Skin (innate) 2 Regeneration (innate) 3 Fire Vulnerability (innate) 5 Berserker Rage (innate) 4 Acid Vulnerability (innate) 5 Damage Resistance 3
Grendel is an odd case and was slightly stronger than what is shown above. A troll is easy to kill if you can keep the mage alive long enough to burn its HP (and it will probably run away). If you can keep the mage alive.
One final note about the monster ranking: It is given by the system based on how much 'power' the monster accumulates on its core. It has a relation with combat power, but it is not 1 : 1 as one would expect. Some monsters don't fall right into their ranking, giving birth to the misnomers 'higher B or lower C' as it was used extensively in the dungeon exploration arc. The system does not rank as higher or lower (i.e. no B+ or C- ranks).
Also remember that Zahariel said the system is an artifical construct made by the gods with the help of the original heroes based on earth games.

Letters from Shanti Ashram, India
I lived in India from 1984-2005, and wrote to my parents regularly about my adventures in Indian ashrams. From 1984-1993 and again 2001-2005, I was living in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh, and I am adding all of those my "Letters from India" book, which will mainly be of interest to those familiar with Prasanthi Nilayam, the ashram of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. However, from 1994-2001 I was staying at a wonderfully spiritual, quiet retreat called Shanti Ashram, and I am putting the letters I wrote to my parents while staying there, on this book. The ashram was a dream come true for sadhana. The people are welcoming, it is usually never crowded, and they offer separate cottages to aspirants. The rates are donation basis only.
