《Diary of Erica Kron》Day 121

One thing that strikes me as being odd about the recent fighting is that Willow was not present. She seems to always be present during major attacks, but not for this one. I don't think that it is too important, just weird.
It feels good to be able to work on my projects after two days of fighting. I give it three days before I get it to a point that I can start really experimenting with it, from there it will be a lot easier to improve it.
Even now I'm able to do enough that I can make some guesses as to how time manipulation works. It isn't anything like going back in time, though from the perspective of someone stuck inside of the area of effect going forward in time is absolutely possible. With this plant, I will be able to dilate time, though I have no idea what kind of extremes I will be capable of pulling off. The biggest restriction is probably the fact that it is really hard to diffuse things into the area of effect, so you would be very limited in the amount of mana you have available, but as of now, I don't see any reason why you can't just recycle the mana you brought in with you. Beyond that, I'm not really sure what the effects of this might be, I guess I will find out eventually.
I'm also increasingly certain that I will not be able to personally benefit from any kind of time dilation, it just seems like it would strip away everything else that gives me an edge. Tiddol might benefit from it quite a bit, however.
Other than that I spent my downtime hanging out with Askos, he came back with me when portal with the other dungeon was failing. We mostly caught each other up on recent events. He told me that they have been under near-constant seige since the moment they took control of the city, and the enemy was obviously focusing on trying to kill as many people as possible, not breaking into the walls. This is in line with what we have experienced with them in the past, they want to bleed us dry, not take our land. Once this war is finally over this whole continent is going to be a severally depopulated forest unless we can end the fighting soon. I'm sure Par is already aware of this.

The Demonic Servant
When I first regained 'consciousness', I was but a broken being, my memories were mostly missing, and I was starving. As time passed, I survived by feeding on the souls of the deceased in this desolate hell, where only the dead live. And unfortunately, these dead are not the kind of dead that stays dead. Instead, they're mindless souls of all shapes, sizes and power whom roam this cursed home of mine. Name? I carry the names of millions upon millions of souls. Bob, Jerry, Askaram, Sara... Race? I devoured the souls of dragons, humans, devils and sentient rocks. As I lived... no, perhaps existed is a better world, I absorbed the memories, experiences, forbidden knowledge and devilish arts of many, many damned souls. After all, who could ever roam this forsaken land but the damned? Now, for the first time in eons, I am finally granted a sliver of hope. To escape this hell, I am willing to serve anyone. The question is, will they accept my servitude? [I don't own the cover. No idea who made it, just found it on google. Still, if you want me to remove it, just ask.]

This story is rated PG-13+, and may demonstrate some more mature themes over the course of the story. Sixty two years had passed since a near cataclysmic event had taken place, and countless tales from those times and times before have been written into history. History, in of itself, is an excellent teacher to those from many backgrounds, but at the same time, it can teach those with malevolent intent to learn from the mistakes made by collegues and similar historical figures. History can inspire to do good whilist preventing evil, yet at the same time, can inspire evil to become smarter, and more skillful in its ways. An adventurer, accompanied by a protective guardian, had set out on a journey to explore the world of Aequiria, inspired by the thousands of tales formed previously, to forge a tale of their own through iron and strife. . . .
