《Diary of Erica Kron》Day 194

Refining the easily perfected stuff will take at most three days, including today.
The troll, Trovich I think his name was, that was experimenting with the Solar Energy I provided came to talk to me today. They wanted to thank me for basically giving them a way to use magic, something they never would have been able to do otherwise. The got to the point where their pool of Solar Energy was large enough to produce more Solar Energy, so as long as they never use too much of it they will never run out. It seems that trolls are also naturally talented at using Solar Energy too, as this guy is much better at it than I am, despite me having significantly more access to the stuff. Of course, he has also put a lot more effort into it, but without natural talent, he wouldn’t have gotten that far that fast. When I told him as much he agreed with me, and considering the fact that his chosen field of study, evolution, has a lot to do with natural talent that means something.
Trovich is also getting close to evolving. One big show of power or me triggering it will set it off. and I absolutely have to watch it happen, or, ideally, shape it. So naturally, I tried to steer the conversation in that direction. He was very impressed with my knowledge of the actual mechanics of evolution. That is no surprise, he might know evolution on an academic level, but I know and understand how it works on a level he couldn’t possibly understand. Manipulating your own evolution grants you several insights into how the whole thing works.
Eventually, I managed to convince Trovich to let me manipulate his evolution, but not without a couple conditions. For one I have to keep him awake during the process, which is easy enough for me. Plus he wants some level of control over the results. He won’t try to directly manipulate it, I made it clear to him that he could easily kill himself if he tried, I don’t think the world can handle more than one person influencing an evolution at a time, but he does want to be better at a couple things. There is the obvious like Solar Energy manipulation, but also a couple things I wouldn’t have expected, like improved bladder capacity. You would think that a water troll wouldn’t have any issue there, but I guess not.

I will take a bit of time out of tomorrow for him to evolve, that got a laugh out of him. Scheduling an evolution is apparently a rather absurd notion.
Other than that Azrezel and I have made no progress towards figuring out what was going on with the undead dying so quickly, though we have managed to improve their lifespan by a couple seconds.
Anyway, Good Night Diary.

Story: Forever After
This is a story that spanned for eons. Through a series of misfortune, Ryner turned into an immortal creature that has lived for hundreds of thousands of years. Not bound to one world, he saw war and peace, love and hate, magic and science. The man started as a parentless child only to grow into a powerful and shunned monster. Despite the physical and mental scars, he still fights on. He still fights Alice, his fellow, insane monster and for their own reasons, they kill each other. The two wage brutal wars in the form of a “death game” that Ryner managed to force Alice into playing. After his latest win against her, he decides to go on a vacation. As such, he inserts himself in a seemingly normal world to enjoy a brief moment of peace and quiet. This is where the story starts, not at the beginning, but near the end. Instead of resting like a lazy tourist, problems pop up one after another. Eventually, Alice ceases to be his only or biggest concern. This is the story of a man who stubbornly walks down a road of madness. This is the story of how a tortured soul struggles, lives and fights. WARNING MATURE CONTENT: gore, sexual content, some disturbing themes Note: Sexual content will be posted as side stories, separated from the main plot. (Will add tags as story progresses)

There's a dead body hanging from a tree and cadaverous giants watch you sleep at night. The end is already here, you just don't know it yet. Now rated in the top 3% of all novels on Royal Road! Palus Somni (‘Marsh of Sleep’) is a worldbuilding webnovel about what happens when your God forsakes you. Inspired by gothic horror and mingled with British myth and folklore, join the Alucinari nuns as they struggle with day-to-day life after the world has ended. Every night when the sun sets the monstrous Gol, colossal beings with too many teeth, awaken and roam the marshlands. Only those with a faithful heart will be spared. Young acolyte Wille has never seen the walls fail, but when a fellow nun is murdered within their sanctum the very safety of the monastery is thrown into question. Did the Gol find a way to breach their defences, or is there a human traitor amongst them? The answer lies both far in the past and deep beneath the earth, through the maze of ancient catacombs. With a cast of over thirty different characters, watch as your friends and enemies spiral into inevitable madness at the hands of a callous and unforgiving world. Discover the secrets of Palus Somni through letters, diary entries and notes found scattered across the monastery. Uncover the mystery of the grotesque giants that stalk the night and bring your challenge to the Gods themselves. Each character has their own handmade pixel art, and every update includes a music recommendation for a dark atmospheric dungeon synth album that you can listen to while you read. Slice of life meets cosmic abomination: Palus Somni is a collection of intertwining stories, some chapters are stand-alone tales while others feed into the overarching narrative. It is an exploration into a community, and rather than focusing on any one character the story meanders through the convent, exposing the hopes and fears of its inhabitants. Story updates every full moon.
