《Diary of Erica Kron》Day 185

The first thing I did today was confront the scholars. I explained to them exactly what happened and told them that they would either be a lot more cooperative with us in the future or they would be removed from my areas of control, violently if necessary. One particularly obstinate young scholar scoffed at that and threatened me, saying that I wouldn’t dare hurt a hair on his head or his order would burn my forest to the ground. With a bit of plant magic I threw him out of my domain. I definitely heard a crack when he hit the ground. The rest of the scholars were a lot more compliant after that, though they still said that they needed to talk to the people they have to report to.
After I finished with them I started to meditate on the part of my connection to my forest that goes through my dungeon core. With the benefit of hundreds of trees all supporting my mind progress is going much faster, it will be days before I get that connection to the point where making it stronger would provide almost no benefit.
To my surprise improving this connection is actually giving me more mana. A lot more. By the time I’m done it will probably have doubled the amount of mana I’m gaining from my trees. I thought I was already getting all the mana I could out of them so I have no idea why I’m getting more, but I’m not going to question it.
The rate my mana production is increasing is a lot faster than the rate that I’m able to spend it is increasing. The latter is based almost entirely on the number of spells I can cast at once, which is based on mostly off of the extra mental prowess I get from my trees. While the former is based on both my connection to my grove and my dungeon core and soon to also be based on the mana to solar energy and back again cycle that I have going on. In a couple weeks it will get to the point that I could not possibly spend mana as fast as I am taking it in, I wonder how that will affect me. At that point I will have functionally infinite mana, and I will need a much bigger mana storage. Maybe it will cause my demonglass to grow a lot faster?

On top of that, once I have that much mana production it is only going to increase faster and faster. All the excess mana that I don’t spend on normal activities I spend on growing my Forest. Once I hit that point I will be pouring so much mana into my forest that it will be growing faster than ever, which will both give me more mana and allow me to spend that mana faster.
It’s kinda funny. My innate mana production is so abysmal I would starve to death if I had to rely on it, I almost did at one point. And now my mana storage and mental prowess are also offloaded to something else to such a degree that my innate abilities are mostly inconsequential. For almost everything relating to using magic I’m relying on something bigger than myself, or would it be more accurate to say an extension of myself? Something beyond what is naturally there, something I went out of my way to add. Now the only things that I truly only rely on my innate abilities for are the intention and knowledge aspects of magic.
Now that I think about it, maybe I can offload those as well? Intention is more than just wanting something, it is also visualization, how well you can picture something happening, something I’ve always been mediocre at. And knowledge is pretty straightforward, the more you understand something the easier it is to do stuff with it. I feel like I might be able to get my trees to assist in both of those, I’m not entirely sure how but I feel like it’s possible, though maybe not easy.
Other than that I spent my free time relaxing with everyone. They were all very concerned about me and their constant questions about my health, while touching, got a bit annoying. Yes I got kidnapped, yes there was nothing you could do about it, and yes I got beat and injured. Can we please stop reminding me every minute.
Anyway, Good Night Diary.

God complex
A hero is summoned to another world, vanquishes evil, yadda yadda, saves the kingdom and lives happily ever after. There is no such hero in this story. Just a desperate youth with great ambition and very little to lose. A zero to hero style story set in a country clearly inspired by modern USA with just as many issues and the minority of mages often pulling strings from the shadows. I am also hoping the whole thing won't turn out edgy enough to cut me. I want to rely on actual good writing rather than cheap powertrip gimmicks. edit: Please don't mind Zetari's salty review. He is quite literally making up any use of the torture and human experimentation trope and says MC is blank after 4 chapters where he conveniently stops reading just at the start of his first character development. For extra entertainment, I will be uploading chapters two at a time and compose a relevant poem through the chapter names. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Legends of The Wesh: Lochley
The Universe is held together by something. It is an undisputable truth but nobody knows what that something is. People claim that it is connected by The Path of Legends, where Gods traversed trying to find the meaning of their own existence. Others claim that the universe is a Tree, connecting worlds with its extending branches and giving life-bearing fruits to its inhabitants. Several even claimed that the Universe is just a colony of ants, that this universe and the worlds in it are just as insignificant as insects. In one of the Worlds in it, the arrival of someone signaled great changes. Gods will die, Trees will Rot, Insects will burn. Those at the top had fallen and they will upend the worlds trying to claim what was theirs. Those at the bottom have had enough of scraps and they yearned to devour the fruits of the worlds. Those that were innocent and caught in between had no choice but to persist, lest they get erased by the surging tides. Nobody knows where will they end, but everybody knew where they started. They will not be judged, they will not be rebuked, they will not be curbed, they will not be vanquished. The universe is their canvas and it’s time — time to paint their truths upon it. Azrael was born as a prince in the warring world of Ost. Inheriting the title but not its privileges and oppressed by his siblings in every step of his life, he had no choice but to be subservient to their whims until circumstances spiraled him to the abyss, to a new world, and to more agreeable companions. But is he truly free from the past or will it continue to hound him to his new life? Elira had one wish… to be known more than as an offspring of the Great Phasol Family. Talented, hardworking, and stubborn, she struggled to break free from the influence of her family. Everything had been going well in her life but is she strong enough to resist the upheaval and truths of the world? William grew up in an orphanage with nothing to his name. Regaled by various tales of fantasy and greatness by his caretakers, he reached adulthood with the goal of having a legend of his own. Will he make his mark on the world or be forgotten like an ant; crushed by the boot of an unsuspecting traveler. The world of Lochley has been at peace for centuries and its undercurrents are growing restless from waiting… waiting for that spark of opportunity to ignite and swallow the world whole. Some will cause it, some will resist it, and some be drowned by it. Which one will you be?
