《Diary of Erica Kron》Day 169

I made more progress today than I did yesterday and I will likely make more progress tomorrow than I made today. I hope I don’t reach the limit there any time soon.
I turn seventeen tomorrow, I’m so excited. Mest and Thes won’t be there this year, but my dad will be and Azrezel will as well. Talus has left and Whisperer fell in combat. Bug has also fallen, though his children all alive and health, I’ve made sure of it. And Lord Parius the Magnificent is there as well, I don’t think I could get rid of him if I wanted to. He’s been there almost since the beginning, and he is definitely no longer the ugly little goblin he was at first. He’s almost handsome now, and strong, very strong, about as strong as Thes was before he evolved only without the rage. If I wasn’t with Azrezel I might even be a bit jealous of Tiddol.
And Willow, I miss Willow. We weren't close, I wanted to be but I failed at that somewhere. Why did I stop hanging out with her again? I know it was to work on something, but what? A gift for her that I never figured out how to make maybe? I hope I get to see her again, but I can’t in good conscience send someone out to hunt her down. Maybe I could ask Par to send some of his men to make sure she is alive and well at least, the charm Mest made to track whether or not she is still alive is in one piece at least.
And my children, my Ents. Many of them have left home and have started on their own journeys now, a couple have even returned and one group has set out for a second time. It is nice to see their faces when they return home, though it is almost always undercut with the loss of one or two of my children. Kaire and Lulem have been good older siblings to my children and are even on the verge of a second evolution, though I don’t think I am ready to evolve them quite yet.

Oh wow, It’s been more than a year since I met Talus. I hope she’s doing well. Maybe we will meet again, though maybe not. That would be a bit awkward. Looking back on my relationship with her it was not exactly healthy. She was a bit exploitative, for lack of a better word. I didn’t really talk about it at the time, mostly because I thought it was normal, but she kind of treated me like a doll. She was a bit possessive and tried to be controlling, though I shut her down there every time it interfered with my work. And then during our alone time she was entirely focused on me and wouldn't really let me do anything, which was disappointing and more than a little uncomfortable. And her it got worse as time went on, up until she left. I know that was at least partially my own fault, but I can’t control anything involving that and so I would prefer not to think about it.
It feels good to get that off of my chest finally, liberating in a way.
Tiddol has been there for me almost since the beginning of my not so willing independence, and though she is a lot busier recently since having children she is still my best friend. She might not be as eloquent as my father, but I always make a point of listening to her stories when I get the chance. I always love hearing her tell me about her life as a diver. The story of her old party killing a dungeon dragon whelp with a small explosive and some glue has always been my favorite, though it has understandably taken on an undercurrent of sadness recently. Most of her stories have. I would be embarrassed to tell her in real life but I love you Tiddol, you are the best friend I could have hoped for. I just wish I could do more for her, but I don’t know how.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention what Tiddol evolved into. She is something called a High Human, though no one is quite sure what the variant is yet.
Nothing else is really worth talking about today, So Good Night Diary.

Old Riding Author Lunatic Asylum
Just off the A19, in the dark, incomprehensible lands known as Yorkshire, there lies a town. A town where shadow-silent alleys glint with the secret hunger of knives. Where blood soaks the chipboard window shutters of forsaken terraces stretching off into the night. Where the smog-choked air rattles with the depraved laughter echoing out from clubs that can only generously be described as post-apocalyptic. Well, that’s Middlesbrough. But down the A19 a bit (an impossibly long way down, actually) there lies another town: Raughnen, in the ancient, forgotten Old Riding. It is an equal match in muggery and thuggery alike. It also has magic spells and pointy wizard hats. And now, across the miles and across all sensibilities, a pretty nasty power (a magic one) calls out for its pretty nasty counterpart (a decidedly unmagic one): a proper sound Boro lad. Nothing good can come of it. This is a collection of one novella and four connected short stories: I. A Yorkshire Summoning II. Old Riding Day Trip (the novella) III. Heaven is a Parmo IV. Death on the 66 V. Death on the 257 In total, this comprises 34 chapters totalling around 35,000 words, so try not to worry. It will be over relatively quickly. There are three more short stories with more tenuous links to the core collection: Rush, Paper Round and Scenario 79: Sausage Fingers, all of which can be found in my collection Short Records of Misadventure. Reading these may allow you to make more sense of certain parts of the story, if any sense is to be made at all. NOTE: There are instances of prejudice and discrimination within these stories, including elements of sexism and ageism, which are purely the thoughts and actions of the characters involved and which certainly do not reflect my own views on these matters. ANOTHER NOTE; A WARNING, PERHAPS: This can get a bit weird. In less than 150 pages, we have four viewpoints, first and third person narratives, and a completely disjointed plot with lots of gaps, dead ends and no real resolution. Also ZERO lunatic asylums. It's all a bit odd. If that sort of thing isn't your cup of tea, which it most likely isn't, it might be best to move on now.

How A Villain Builds A Kingdom
READ THE WARNING Amadeus Devereux was born into a rich and powerful household. But he did not pursue power like his brothers because of his love for art, flowers, and poetry. Until one day, a servant arrived in the garden to see Amadeus smiling as if he was looking at a flower. Only this time, Amadeus was looking at the mangled corpses of two gardeners. ————————— Set in a fantasy world where magic exists, follow Amadeus as he embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Will he be able to feel emotions as others do? This is a novel that I wrote because I got tired of all the tropes that had transmigration, regression, deus-ex machina, etc. where everything that makes the main character reach the top is left to luck. —————————

The Last Journey
A slice of life litrpg story... or is it? It's burning slow, though. Moving on: War comes with a great cost. Lives and time wasted for most part. One could either be run with sword, be poisoned, be bowed, and sometimes meet their end with just a tiny speck of wood. With magic, it becomes even more colorful. From lightning, to worse poison, to hovering rocks, to weird bladed leaves, to whipping roots, and to a lot more odd things easily reasoned with magic. A wonderful creation. But once used to something more than wonder, more than tricks to gather laughs, it becomes worse. War becomes worse. For there is not only blood to be spilled. A particular town almost met the same end. Soldiers geared with swrords and bows came with mounts. Horses burning lush grasses as it cracked boulders and the soil alike with every step. The kind that only war ones could ever do. Even strange wheeled creations that oozed danger were towed, loaded with something meant to destroy. But not once had they acted upon what such devices should've done, nor what an an army is supposed to do. Siege never occurred, as much as a command to war. No. Magic existed so a simple little fire is all the worth the town has. No sword drawn, no arrows nocked, nothing. Just some mana spent and through the ash they march. That was how Nudius saw her end. It came not even as a surprise. She didn't have the moment to fully register what occurred before she found herself in an empty dark space. Life lost, time spent. All from a fire that had not even touched her. But she knew very well that it was magic. Something she wished to have and strived for to have. Yet it seemed that none of it would matter now. Nudius was well aware of what the color around meant, of the odd situation, of the unfeeling state of her being. It was death and that was it. She didn't have to worry or dream further. Although there wasn't what she truly wanted in what death to her is, but at least, Nudius was comforted to what she believed death is. Rest. But little did she know there's something more than that empty space. It wasn't only the promise of rest, but was also more than she could ever hope for. Another chance at life. Another chance to dream. ***Tags are there just in case. You never know! Umm... HI-MI-TSU. Story blurb+: This is slow burn, quite slice of life story about a girl learning magic. All the while as she fatten herself up. So yeah, progression fantasy. But there's Litrpg! Numbers! Magic! Spells! And of course! There's something more. But read on ahead, please. Oh yes. Plot! There is, too. Disclaimer: The cover isn't made by me. Just layered it with a text. I got it from a free website, if I correctly recall. I'll see to it. (Haven't worked on it.)
