SUBJECT: Suspicious behaviour

CONTENT: Most elevated Provost,

May the emperor heap riches and lofty position upon your form for the honour thou hast bestowed me in assigning me service under the revered archmagus Talmanael. I am learning a lot, and hope to use this gain in understanding to better serve the Emperor.

My heart is thus saddened by the news that I must convey in this letter. It has come to my attention that my fellow private Winn Ruddell has plans of subterfuge and insubordination. The fair Camprisse Inguss had initially brought tales of illegal suspicions to my loyal ears, but it wasn’t until I found proof with my own hands that I felt the need to inform you. Camprisse herself is understandably hesitant in spreading this news. Tales of heresy inside the tower of one of the most enlightened and magical minds currently alive would spread only unrest.

Still, my hesitation does not reduce the fact that I suspect Winn Ruddell of collusion with traitors and slaves. Growing pen AP605 was showing deviations within parameters for weeks - an inspection at significant personal risk to my corporeal being allowed me to learn that the feed-stock was still alive. No untrained beings could resist the touch compulsion woven by Talmanael himself for long. The fact that these slaves are even now still breathing is proof of foul play of the highest order.

Please note that although Camprisse brought this to my attention, I did any and all investigations myself. This was at great personal risk to my life and limb. The fact that she had alerted me to this menace puts her above suspicion. The archmagus himself has no motive to sabotage his own operation. The station of guards has no capability to commit this treason. This thus leads me to the conclusion that Winn is the traitor in this scenario.
