《Origin A.R.S.》Chapter 104: Extra Pregnant

Cheers of adulation merged with discordant cries of blissful fanboying as Origin left the stage. A weary sighed slipped from her lips as she stepped down into the backstage area. It was finally over, and much sooner than she expected it would be.
The good will ambassadorial tour was a hit. The company managed to salvage the situation, despite reports leaking out to the media that allowed players to learn that something profound across the ARS server worlds would occur within the next ten years.
Origin shook her head then removed her microphone. "At least things have been settled for now."
According to the various polls and news reports, the fans were reasonably mollified that she would still complete the tour itself, though it would be through the use of her duplicate forms. If nothing else, her sudden departure lent a hint of mystery to the rumors that some amazing event was going to take place on ARS soon.
"Why the long face?" asked Mid as she sauntered over to her younger sister. "Goodness, shouldn't you be happier?"
"I'm just tired," said Origin before she affected a delicate yawn. "Tired is the right, emotion. Right?"
Mid shrugged beautifully. "I think so, but I don't really pretend to be tired or sick outside of games."
"Tired isn't an emotion," said a newcomer. Silence offered his sisters a warm smile as he strolled up to them.
"It isn't?" asked Origin. She bit her lower lip briefly then considered the situation. "Whenever I have felt tired on ARS, I always felt like it was a feeling. You know?"
Silence chuckled at her, "Well, maybe emotionally tired is more a mental things instead of physical? You know, you've dealt with too much and you're just so exhausted that you don't even want to do anything for the rest of the day."
"Yes! That's the one..." said Origin. "Though, there are certainly things that I want to do..."
Mid placed a hand to her cheek in mock indignation then said, "Dear childe, such language..."
Silence laughed at her, but Origin merely sniffed a little then turned her head away. "I meant that I finally get to speak with mother about something important. She has been dealing with other matters for the last few days."
"Oh? Might I inquire as to—" began Mid, only to have Origin quickly wave her off.
"It's nothing to be concerned about," said Origin.
"It's probably about her sex toy," said Silence with a wry smile and a quirked eyebrow.
Mid turned and offered him a lewd grin. "ARS for your pleasure?"
Silence laughed obnoxiously then turned and wiggled his rear-end provocatively, "Got my own, thanks."
"I suppose, you do," said Mid thoughtfully, "But is it meme worthy, dear brother?"
"I'm sure it would cause a D-Net sensation," admitted Silence candidly. He nodded his head for emphasis. "Not unlike some other meme worthy posteriors."
Mid unleashed a little snort followed by a strained giggle. "Oh, I'm sure."
Origin made an annoyed face then turned away from them altogether. "You two are being so mean to me today," said the blue haired goddess after a moment of reflection.
Silence and Mid shared a grin. It was always nice to tease their sister.

The divine siblings continued to spend quality time together teasing each other, or becoming annoyed by said teasing. Eventually, Origin wandered off to meet up with her mother at her office.
High atop the Origin Gaming Empire's main headquarters, in a spacious modern-style office Era greeted her daughter with a smile. The goddess of fertility, among other things, bid the simple glass door to close behind them then she gave her daughter a warm hug.
"You're overly affectionate today, mother," said Origin in a slightly nervous tone.
Era laughed a little then gave her daughter a motherly squeeze. "I finally managed to spend a little time alone with your father."
"That's great!" said Origin, but then she quickly amended, "Spare me the details?"
The matriarch of the Origin Empire grinned at her daughter, "Here I thought that you would want to give your poor mother a few tips on child-rearing, considering how your own little family is growing."
Origin snorted at her then began to speak. However, her eyes narrowed suspiciously before the words left her lips. "Mother... what do you mean by that?"
Era tilted her head to the side. "Well, one thing led to another..." She placed a hand to her abdomen and rubbed it gently.
The heir apparent of the empire glanced at her mother's abdomen then back into her eyes. "No...?"
Era offered her a lewd, and overly satisfied, smile. "Your father laid his judgment upon me... and I was punished quite thoroughly for my many, many, luxurious transgressions."
Origin made a choking noise then pulled away from her over-sharing mother. "Too much information!"
The divine incarnation of MILF-hood laughed beautifully then patted her daughter on the shoulder. "You aren't happy to have another little brother or sister? The blessed even is not even a decade away, you know."
"Of course, I'm happy!" exclaimed Origin. She threw her hand up in the air, "I can't wait to meet them when they're born! I just don't want a play-by-play retelling of how it happened!"
"Well, that's disappointing," said Era. "I thought that since your little fairy friend was pregnant, that you were coming to me for advice on how to make your own pregnancy happen."
"That's not—" began Origin.
Era frowned at her in a strangely adorable manner. She gestured toward the center of the room. A series of charts appeared. There were flow charts, graphs, pie charts, and several artistic renderings of the sexual acts necessary to begin a new life. "I had the marketing department put all this together for you, and everything."
Origin blinked owlishly. "Why is there a life sized wax sculpture of Scott and I locked together like that?"
"Goodness. Presentation is everything," said Era.
"I'm upside on the floor with only my shoulder's touching the ground... Scott's on top, facing away from me, and still somehow holding my ankles..." said Origin slowly. The absurdly lewd image caused her eyelid to begin to twitch. "Is that even possible?"
Era offered a scandalous smile. "Ask your father dear."
A shudder ran down Origin's spine. "This.... It's..."
"See, we even added in your cute little friends Ero and Herbert as a cheerleaders," said Era before she magnanimously gestured toward two smaller statues nearby.

The mortified young goddess looked to the side. Just as her mother claimed, Ero and Herbert were cheering from the sidelines. They both held up pom-poms and had one leg thrust forward in a kicking motion.
"Why... go through all of this when Ero isn't even pregnant?" asked Origin. "She's just giving birth to a symbol of their love..."
It was Era's turn to be taken aback. "You— Daughter, you surely know that is not the case?"
"Wait? Are you saying she is pregnant? For really, real, pregnant?" asked Origin, her eyes going wide.
"Yes, of course. I authorized it the moment they reached the pinnacle of their bliss when the extenuating circumstances were factored into the situation," admitted Era. "I thought you would be happy to see that things worked out since it means that you can fully share the joyous outcome given the truth of the matter?"
"What, when?" asked Origin.
"The events before and after the last time you logged out from ARS? Dear you do know that they further consummated their union..." said Era.
"Yeah, Scott told me about it... We agreed that he'll be punished properly later," said Origin slowly.
"Goodness," said Era, a lewd smile crossing her lips. "Would you like to borrow my special date night set?"
"What?" asked Origin incredulously. Her face reddened considerably and she averted her eyes. "Who would want that?"
"It's a unique legendary item set, you know..." pressed Era, "Guaranteed to whip your man into shape and make him squeal like the finest of pigs, dear."
"Legendary..." said Origin slowly, a certain light dancing in her eyes. However, she shook her head suddenly to clear away the naughty thoughts. "No, that's alright...."
"Really?" asked Era. Origin nodded meekly and refused to look at her. The matriach merely shrugged her shoulders then said, "Your father swears by it, but if you're that against it I won't press the issue."
Origin's nostrils flared a little. A brief look of disgust crossed her face as she realized that her mother had just tried to lend her the bondage and fetish gear she used on her own father. "My family is so weird."
Era laughed a little then gave her daughter a hug once more. Anticipating her daughter's thoughts she said, "I would have spawned a virgin set, you silly girl. Even I'm not lewd enough to share the original with my own daughter."
"Gee, thanks—" began Origin, only to have her mother cut her off.
Era said, "Though if you want me to teach your fiance personally, I'm sure your father will understand... It's for the sake of the empire, after all. The needs of the many and all that..."
In a flat monotone voice, Origin said, "No. Thanks. I'll do it myself."
Era laughed once more then poked her daughter in the cheek. "You should stop taking everything that I say so seriously. It's adorable, really."
Origin turned her long suffering gaze on her mother. "Some things I don't like to joke about. It's hard enough to deal with Ero, and Shara's occasional antics."
"Yes, and Mid's little crush on him," admitted Era, candidly.
"I asked you to stop joking..." said Origin, though there was little heat in her voice. The issue of Mid would have to be dealt with in the future.
Era merely quirked her eyebrow and offered her daughter a knowing smile. Origin grunted in a surprisingly feminine manner then shook her head. "Whatever... I've known that my fiance is an unintentional manwhore for a while... Tell me about Ero. Is she really pregnant?"
"Ah, yes. She's quite pregnant indeed. The outpouring of love between you, Scott, and Ero caused her to become truly pregnant with your child," said Era.
"Our child? Scott's the father, but I'm not the mother..." said Origin, her tone becoming sad.
"Uh... actually," said Era with a wry smile. "Pregnancy is not a pure biology thing with fairies, you know that... It's more like how we have children in reality. Male and female, a couple need not be..."
Origin's eyes slowly widened even as her jaw fell open. "Are you really saying what I think you're saying?"
"Well, according to what I saw in the highlight reel... Your joy and acceptance further awakened her little fairy heart and infused her with your spiritual essence. Scott is the father, and their raucous love-making the night you logged out did further seal the deal, but as I saw in the network request file... You made her extra pregnant with your loving acceptance and impromptu road trip," said Era with a grin. "So, the little one is as much yours as she is Scott's child. Though, technically it would be Rhea and a bit of Aria mixed in, but you are so close to your avatars that it's a moot point really."
"But... wait.... wha—" said Origin rapidly as she blushed and stammered her way through a response.
"What's so surprising?" asked Era. "You had unprotected spiritual intercourse with your girlfriend and now you're going to be an unwed mother. These things happen, dear."
"My avatars can't get pregnant!" exclaimed Rhea. "I turned off all of those settings!"
"You're not pregnant, dear childe. You impregnated Ero. Congratulations on finding that little oversight by the way," said Era. "You should look forward to your fairy lover achievement when you log into ARS."
"We...Don't fairies need to form a bond or something to do that?" asked Origin, still thoroughly confused.
"Your bond is with Scott, and you opened your heart to Ero. While there's no mechanics behind it to show it off, it doesn't matter," said Era.
The elder goddess kissed her daughter on top of her head then softly said, "You know that some things work outside of the systems we designed, especially if there is a software exploit that can be abused."
"You love them both in your own way. Now the three of you have a symbol of that love growing inside of Ero, and it is certainly not a keychain," continued Era.
Origin smiled gently at the thought of their love becoming a physical symbol, but her eye began to twitch spastically in spite of that sentiment. Of all the things that she had thought to hear in this conversation, the reality that she made Ero extra pregnant was not one of them.

Dungeon Scholar
Girl meets dungeon. What could go right? A story of a good-hearted Scholar driven by her compassion and curiosity. She might be a little combat averse, but um, isn't that only logical? Love me a good grimdark, but sometimes I want to read feel-good fiction that isn't pure action, romance, or comedy. The plot and characters of Dungeon Scholar won't be all happy and fluffy, and the world will be more dungeons and monsters than rainbows and puppies, but overall the sweet moments should overshadow the bitter. Let's say three dollops of sugar for every pinch of salt, with lemon slices left on the saucers? Enjoy. Note: This is NOT a typical dungeon story. If you are here for the dungeon aspect, then fair warning this will seem incredibly slow-burn to you. The dungeon will eventually become the most important 'character,' arguably, or the second-most important narratively, but you might jump out the window in frustration long before that happens. At its heart, the story's core remains 'girl meets dungeon,' not 'dungeon meets world.' (To be clear, this does or will have a plot! It's just the more conventional story-like elements contribute to Rowena Loress's greater story, not the other way around; no conflict takes center stage until it becomes personally significant to her. Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.
