《Purple Lightning Emperor》Chapter 112

" What kind of godforsaken place is this! As soon as the mist made contact with my skin, I felt a prickling sensation" Murmured Florence as she was moving forward within the endless mist with a worrying look on her face. The entire area was filled with a milky white mist which made it impossible to even see twenty meters ahead. Furthermore, this kind of mist was extremely weird and it was very difficult to even for her spiritual force to penetrate it. Moreover, her skin was constantly issuing a sizzling noise as though it was about to wither. It was as though the endless mist had a corrosive effect.
Additionally, the sky above was completely gray as the sunlight couldn't penetrate through the thick endless mist that surrounded the Tower. Even though she was very close to the Tower, she was still unable to see it from within the endless mist.
Furthermore, she knew nothing about the topography here. If it wasn't for the exquisite silver colored compass in Klaus's hand which pinpoint the location of the Great Tower, It would have been almost impossible to find the location of the Tower by herself.
" It's just an illusionary barrier, nothing more. The endless mist doesn't contain any corrosive effect or the ability to kill you. Everything it's just in your head " Shad replied as he took a quick glance at the beautiful temptress Florence before he looked back to check at the people behind him.
Unlike the others, Shad was way better off. He was able to see through the endless mist as clear as the day because of his crimson eye that allows him to see through even concrete.
Furthermore, with his strong spiritual force, he was able to sense anything within 350 meters radius. Whether it was the girls, the Lightning Corps, Gomez, and Clyde along with the other soldiers under his command, they were all covered by his spiritual force. Because of that, he would be able to protect them and warn them from any incoming attack or ambush.

As for the others, it was impossible for them to keep an eye on the hundreds of imperial soldiers that were following them. It was like everyone for themselves within that endless mist.
If it wasn't for the fact that Shad was pessimistic about confronting the powerful magical beasts that resided or were trapped within the endless mist with his troops alone and the probability of an ambush by the Eye, Shad was not going to form an alliance with them. In fact, he was more useful to them than they are to him. Now that, Shad had the girls and his troops to worry about, he didn't want to make any reckless move or choice.
" It seemed like brother Shad is very knowledgeable about the endless mist. Are you sure it's your first time coming to the Great Tower," Asked Florence with a hint of curiosity and a charming smile on her face.
Not only Florence, but the other novas also looked at Shad with a curious expression on their faces when they heard his claims about the endless mist. Even though they knew that the endless did not have the ability to kill them, they did not know that it was an illusion barrier. Not even their ancestors who had been to the Great Tower countless times knew that information so how come Shad knew that. Even though they didn't believe his claim about the endless mist being an illusion barrier because the external region of the Great Tower had always been like that for hundreds of years, so for them, it was impossible for an illusion magic spell to last that long. Nonetheless, they didn't completely rule out the possibility.
" Um." Seeing how the others were looking at him, Shad didn't want to say much as he only nodded his head an agreement. Plus, It was indeed his first time coming to the Great Tower.
All along the way, the seven Novas practically didn't encounter any magical beasts. Nonetheless, they didn't dare to let their guards down because they knew it was just the calm before the storm.

After walking for nearly two hours, the seven novas felt as though they have been walking forever and the territory covered by the endless mist was endless just like the name implied.
There were an entire five thousand plus people that entered the endless mist. However, one could only see the handful of people that were very close to them as the rests were covered with endless milky fog which made it impossible to see them.
As the seven Novas along with more than three thousands imperial soldiers were marching towards the Great Tower within the endless mist, a shrill cry suddenly sounded out from within the faraway layers of haze.
" Flee, let's flee quickly, a group of powerful magical beasts is coming." The voice was filled with a boundless terror, and it wasn't long before numerous people dashed out of from the faraway haze in panic. Their hair was in disorder, clothes torn and stained with blood, and they were in an extremely sorry state.
' A group of powerful magical beasts? Could it be that these people had encountered an attack?' The others thought.
Shad along with the other Novas quickly stopped moving. Shad quickly used his right crimson eye and peered through the endless mist where the voice came from.
" Let's run quickly, they are following us." Under the waves of shrill cries, those people had already come close.
The Imperial soldiers, as well as the 7 Novas, were already in battle mode as they were waiting for the so-called group of powerful magical beasts.
As these people that were running away from the magical beast got closer, an unexpected event suddenly happened.
The middle-aged man that was in the lead suddenly drew out a long sword and plunged it into Shad's stomach. As soon as the others saw this, they've changed from their sorry states into a vicious state as they pounced towards the other Novas with their weapons.
These were not pitiable people that were fleeing in a sorry state after encountered the attack of a group of powerful magical beasts, they were obviously the cunning and crafty members of the Eye waiting to ambush them.
They pretended to run away from a group of powerful magical beasts in order to spread panic, fear, and disarray within the Seven Novas's group so they could kill them one by one as they fled. Furthermore, they wanted to use that tactic to get close to the Novas without alerting them of their true motives.
Seeing as Shad along with the other novas stood still on the spot as though they'd been shocked stiff from the sudden turn of events.
A trace of viciousness and a complacent smile appeared on the blood covered face of the man in the lead.
'Success." He thought while looking at the seven novas as though they were a group of stupid little fat sheep.
Wait a minute? something seemed to be slightly off...
At the moment the middle-aged man along with the others slashed and pierced through the bodies of the Seven Novas with their swords, they Instantly dissipated as though they were made of smoke or mist.
" Looking for us." At the same time, the sweet voice of woman rang out a few meters away from the dissipated bodies of the Seven Novas with more than two hundred archers behind her.
" Little brother Shad was right, you guys really weren't good people. Nail them to the ground boys." She said as she was looking at the middle-aged man in the lead who had the look of terror on his eyes with a satisfying smile on her face.

8 177The Epiphany Colony
Brad Asher has been a private detective on the Epiphany Colony orbiting Mars for about a year before stumbling into a conspiracy that threatens the safety and stability of the colony. Note that the story here is the first draft and has a lot of ideas, characters, and plotlines that I ended up dropping in the final version that I released here currently available on Kindle Unlimited. The entire second half was restructured, as I ended up not being satisfied with some of the things that I introduced and felt like it had strayed too far from my initial vision of a space-based detective noir story.
