《Purple Lightning Emperor》Chapter 52

As he got out from the dense trees within the mountain, Herald slowly walked towards 5th Eye. His facial expression was the same as his previous fire clone. However, every step he took was abound with murderous intent. It was extremely oppressive.
Seeing Herald moving towards him, the 5th eye only stretched out his hand and waved. Around him, a huge magic circle appeared which gave birth to a hundred sabers that shimmered around him.
Even after seeing a hundred sabers, Herald did not back down. his body was releasing an extremely hot pressure. It was as though the heaven and earth lose all temperature.
" Burn, explosion," Herald said softly as a huge red flame suddenly burst out from the magic circle.
The surging flame formed a huge fireball and shot towards 5th Eye. The huge fireball ignited a sea of fire behind it, It was as though the sun was crashing down into the huge mountain.
" Shield." 5th eye did not even panic as he saw the huge fireball coming his way. Instead, his facial expression was very sinister and ruthless as he was looking at Herald in front of him.
This was a mission entrusted to him by the Progenitor and failure was not an option. Not to mention the result of this mission was the key to the rise of the Eye, something they have been dreaming and planning for a long time.
As the huge fireball got pretty close to the 5th Eye, the hundreds of sabers formed a metal shield as the sabers joined to together as though they had become one huge metal wall, with the 5th Eye behind it.
~Boom~
The huge fireball clashed against the 5th Eye sabers' shield. The intense collision caused the ground to tremble. Numerous gigantic trees that were nearby got uprooted as result. The splintered midair before being burnt to a crisp by the remanent of the huge fireball.
The 5th eye was alarmed as he was forced to take a step back. Although he did not suffer from this clash, he was using his hundred sabers shield which was his ultimate and unbreakable defense, while Herald just shot a huge fireball.

Even though he did not know which tier that magic spell was, but he did not expect to make him step back and even damaged five of his sabers.
The 5th eye was a void mage that could control flying weapons, but he preferred sabers. Unlike most void mages, his power is limited to is a spiritual force rather than mana.
The stronger his spiritual force was, the more powerful his sabers' attack power would be. Mana played a huge role as well, but it was secondary. His spiritual force controlled how fast and strong his saber attack would be while his mana basically controlled how many sabers he could summon, which was a hundred max. Nonetheless, he preferred having a strong spiritual force which would allow him to kill a 9th class mage with a single attack than being able to control a lot of sabers which lacked the attack power needed to kill or pierced the defense of a strong opponent.
The weird thing about his ability was the fact that, whether he controls a hundred sabers or just one, the attack powers was the same. As such, he'd rather use all hundred sabers rather than one. It would allow him to defend and attack at the same time.
Soon after the huge fireball scattered, the hundred of sabers did the same and flew towards Herald on their own not to attack him but surrounded him. The hundreds of sabers surrounded Herald without any blind spot available.
Seeing as the hundred flying sabers changed direction and surrounded him rather than just attacking him, Herald did not panic because he already knew about that weird ability of the 5th eye. He could manipulate his sabers and made them do whatever he wanted with just thought within a certain distance.
When the 5th eye thought that he had cornered Herald, something unbelievable happened. A huge magic circle appeared underneath Herald's feet and six balls of flame burst forth until they transformed into six persons who looked exactly like Herald. Which means, there were seven of him within the hundred sabers formation.
They all looked the same and their body was giving out the same aura. It was almost impossible to differentiate the real one from the fire clone.

This was an Innate magic spell practiced only by the core member of the Djage Imperial family. Not only this spell had a strong attacking power, each of the clones was able to cast a magic spell on their own as though they were their own individual. However, the drawback was that it consumed a lot of mana.
The number of spells simultaneously cast by them was the number of mana that would be absorbed from the host body for each magic spells. It was also a very dangerous spell because if one were to use it lightly without thinking, one might suffer mana deficiency by casting a lot of spells while not having enough mana.
Furthermore, it was because of that innate spell that the Djage imperial family was feared the most. Innate spells were very rare because it grows with the power of the caster or the mages. Imagine a 9th class mage use that same spell to make nine clones and made them cast nine 8th tiers or 9th tiers magic spell simultaneously, how destructive that would be. unfortunately, it was impossible as no 9th rank mage had enough mana to cast that many high tiers spell simultaneously.
In a field that was completely filled with swords, dodging was no doubt much more difficult than attacking.
The hundred of sabers quickly flew towards all seven Heralds at an astonishing speed, trying to stab them before they could even cast a magic spell.
The 5th Eye was sure to kill Herald this time, a sword was almost always faster than a human, not to mention Herald was a mage. He believed that he would be able to kill him before he could cast any magic spell. As such he didn't care about leaving any sabers for defense but used all of them in a single attack.
Sure enough, before Herald was able to cast any magic spell with six of his clones, he was buried into the mountain peak with a rain of sabers that descended upon him like a meteor shower. However, as soon as a hundred sabers pierced through his heart, each of them turned into a small ball of flame before dissipating to the air.
The 5th Eye was surprised but before he could even react or think about what happened, he heard Herald's voice behind his back.
"I've told you that I made some preparations before I came here to fight you, do you think I was going to face you head-on. Use your head dummy, who would face you with this freakish ability of yours head on. Take that brick."
Herald's voice came from behind. When the 5th Eye heard this, he was incensed, but he could do nothing to Herald.
At this point, the 5th Eye suddenly felt a cold wind blew behind his head. With a huge brick in hand. Herald aimed at the 5th Eye's head, fiercely slamming it down.
" Herald, You."
The 5th eye didn't have time to dodge and quickly tried to summon his sabers but before he could even summon them back.
~Ding~
A crisp sound rang. Herald smacked the 5th Eye in the back of his head. The 5th Eye's body trembled. All he felt was an intense pain behind his head while his eyes saw countless of shining stars in the middle of the day. His whole body turned stiff before his body slowly fell onto the ground.
However before he fell down, he suddenly realized the great mistake he had made. Herald was an 8th class mage, so he would be able to create 8 clones simultaneously. However, The ones that were in front of him had only created six clones, which means the Herald in front of him was a fake all along. Herald had never left where he was hiding and was fighting him from the distance.
" Now, I can finally see my grandson. He probably forgot all about me by now." Herald said as he picked up the unconscious 5th Eye and left the huge mountain peak. However, a minute after he left, he quickly came back and picked up the brick from the ground.
" I almost forgot my heavenly brick." he said with a sly smile on his face before disappearing within the mountain.

Beyond the Bridge
There are many worlds, many multiverses, and you can move between them via the Federation's Bridge network - magical gateways to other worlds. The world dubbed "C'thon" by its inhabitants - or Gamma-Theta-Nu-649, if you ask the Federation's bureaucracy - was deserted when the Federation found it. The "civilized" races had all died out centuries prior, and the wilderness had grown downright feral in their absence. Now, the lonely Federation outpost of Bridgetown is under constant threat from the hungry wildlife, malicious fey, territorial goblins, and wandering undead that surround it. The town's distance from the Federation's centers of power means that it gets precious few of the resources that it needs to stay safe and afloat. Enter the Guild of Adventurers, a plucky and disparate crew who do the Federation's dirty work in exchange for coin. One team, the first of many, crosses the Bridge to C'thon looking for fame, fortune, and (if they're lucky) the answer to a newly-discovered Prophecy. They'll get much more than they bargained for, although first they need to avoid being eaten by the local wildlife. Updates weekly on Wednesday. Chapters will be as long as they need to be for them to work, which means they can vary. If anything drops below 2500 words, I'll post an extra chapter if I have one ready. [PS: This is not a litRPG, but I do borrow heavily from TTRPGs for inspiration, and the general setting and storyline is from a TTRPG campaign I'm running.] [PPS: This is my first attempt at writing long-form fiction. I'm not trying to make a great piece of literature or have a multi-novel overarching plot, but hopefully it'll still be a fun story - let me know what you think in the comments.] [PPPS: Cover image is from a free-download wallpaper by Tyler Edlin; I do not own it, and will take it down immediately if requested.]
