[Baker] has been optioned for a [Class Fusion] via the Trial of Spirit

Forty-Two Class Options are Available.

Based on your performance, personality, and previous skills, the five recommended class options will populate in a moment.

It was one thing to feel the world around him change, it was another to feel his soul turn to a firm mush after burning like a wildfire inside his chest. It was like feeling the organs you knew were there but had never felt before. Myles knew that a Class wasn’t a tangible thing. It was something tied into who you were, a part of your soul, but nevertheless, it felt like freshly kneaded dough inside his chest.

Then as he reached for his chest, he froze.

In horror, Myles realized he didn’t have hands to move.

He didn’t have a chest to feel either.

Really, he didn’t have any body to speak of.

The information was all still in whatever he could call vision, though. The numbers and the attributes the trials had been testing were easily visible favoring… Cunning, Reasoning, Willpower and Self…

So, what?

His intelligence? Myles never considered himself that smart, and that Wisdom score confirmed that for him.

In the end, he didn’t know what it meant except that it was the score of his class compatibility, and that whatever came next, Myles wasn’t sure he was ready for it. The fact that his first class, [Baker], was still optioned was interesting enough, but the fact it could even fuse with another class was a surprise.

What would his scores get him?

Would he be useful to a group?

Would it be the push he needed to help him survive?

These questions and more plagued his thoughts, but he didn’t have to wait long to see what would come of it.

Soon, the shadows receded, but his body didn’t return.

Instead, he found himself floating above a stone dais with what would have been waist high pillars of a glimmering black stone that shown with all the umbral colors of a storm-darkened rainbow when his presence focused on it.

Soon, he noticed a sixth pillar below him.

Taking a risk, Myles willed himself to move, pressing his presence away from the pillar so he could get a better look. What he found nearly made his sense of self shatter.

It was him.

Down to the last out of place wisp of hair and burned streak on the back of his hand, it was him, just standing there in a set of clothes his father would have killed for - The Royal Head Chef’s uniform.

As he stared, examining himself with a scrutiny he never could before, ethereal words began to coalesce from the darkness and inform him exactly what he was looking at:

[Baker]

Class Type: Support - Utility

Requirements: Strength: 1, Agility: 1, Endurance: 1

Description: A cornerstone of any civilization is their cooking. A specialized version of the [Cook] class, the [Baker] class specializes in food created through the baking process such as breads, pastries, and confectionery treats. At higher skill levels, [Baker]s can infuse their food with special properties to increase the endurance, strength, or other specialized traits of the eater.

Example Skills: Baker’s Knowledge, Food Lore, Taste Test, Deft Hands, Lesser Barter

Experience is gained through: Learning recipes, baking, client’s good will, experimentation

He was looking at his class, him as the best version of himself as a [Baker], the dream his father had come so close to reaching. He had to admit, he looked good in the royal blues and golds of Kess. However, that meant each of these…

Based on your performance, personality, and previous skills, the five recommended class options will populate in a moment.

Each of these was a class choice, the five most suited for his style according to the dungeon trial.

When that though finally hit home, a light began to shine around him, five lights to be exact, that illuminated the five glimmering stone platforms. Each platform another perfect version of himself for the presented class. There was one in robes, some in armor, and others dressed in stranger clothing still, but one by one, he examined exactly what his trials had wrought.

[Brawler]

Class Type: Damage - Close Range

Requirements: Strength: 3, Agility: 5, Endurance: 5

Description: Beat ‘em to the ground then back up again. The [Brawler] is a close quarters fighter specialized in hand to hand combat. Preferring their own hands or impromptu weapons to anything else, the [Brawler] gives their enemies little time to respond with their lighting fast attacks and bone-breaking counters. They bring their enemies to their knees… and gives [Dentists] hope for a wealthier tomorrow.

Example Skills: Brawl, Counter, Unarmed Combat Form (Basic), Gut Punch, Improvised Weaponry

Experience is gained through: Combat, Forms Practice, Creative Skill Use

The [Brawler] still looked like Myles but stronger. Myles had muscles, sure, but the [Brawler] Myles was frightening. His muscles weren’t bulging like on some adventurers he’d seen. They looked more like a cat’s. They were tone, but not overly so. Every muscle on his [Brawler] body looked tense, as if he could strike out at any second and pull back in before anyone was the wiser. The clothing was… interesting too.

An open, short sleeved jacket and flowing pants draped across his form, and a piece of fabric was wrapped around his head while another acted as a belt in the same colors as the pillar. It was interesting for sure, but he didn’t really like the idea of feeling bones break under him.

Even so, that was better than feeling his bones break under him.

So, he moved to the next.

[Succulent Magician]

Class Type: Support - Utility

Requirements: [Cook] Class or Sub-class, Cunning: 5, Willpower: 5, Wisdom: 5

Description: If you can’t eat ‘em, beat ‘em. A hybrid class using the [Cook]’s varied skills in the culinary arts and the [Magician]’s aetheric control to create enchanted foods, temporary minions, and even impromptu weapons in a pinch. Like all aether attuned classes, the [Succulent Magician] is one of preparation and creativity, and you can surely rise to the challenge.

Example Skills: Magical Cooking, Phantom Oven, Enchant Dough, Food Lore, Rise

Experience is gained through: Combat, Cooking, Enchantment Success Rate

Despite the strange name and even stranger description, the look of the [Succulent Magician] was almost familiar. It looked just like the chef from earlier, but it looked to be wearing more of a robe than an apron, had a cape, and a puffy tricorn hat rather than a cook’s tall toque. In his hand was a staff made of what looked like a large, perfectly cooked loaf of bread with a heft of cream and berries on the top. It was appealing but still hit a little too close to home for his liking and was frankly useless to him. It might be good in the long run, but when would he get a chance to cook and prepare before the first hour was up? That opening bell was sometimes the most brutal of the entire run.

Still, he filed that away as a possible choice.

The next one was… yeah…

[Tactician]

Willpower Variant

Class Type: Damage/Support - Utility

Requirements: Cunning: 10, Reasoning: 15, Willpower: 10

Description: Checkmate. The [Tactician] class is one of quick thinking and even quicker action. On a grand scale, the [Tactician] can take in a battlefield, come up with a plan, and execute it in a way everyone can understand. On a small scale, the [Tactician] can pinpoint weaknesses, utilize team members, and dispatch foes well above their strength with the right resources. Only a fool would count out a team with a tactician at their helm and expect to survive the first encounter.

Example Skills: Pinpoint Weakness, Terrain Lore, Fog of War, Combat Lore, Monster Lore

Experience is gained through: Combat, Successful Planning, Proper Utilization of resources

Despite the rather fancy coat that looked like it belonged on a royal rather than on his frame, the class didn’t sound like him at all. At least, not until he thought about it. He’d planned this entire thing, hadn’t he? He even out-thought one of the challenges meant to test him. How many people could say that? The more he thought about it, the more it appealed to him, so it was yet another choice he could agree with.

[Monster Tamer]

Class Type: Hybrid - Hybrid

Requirements: Cunning: 10, Willpower: 10, Self: 10

Description: Monsters rule. Rather than deal in magic or combat, the [Monster Tamer] has the ability to do both, albeit through proxy. A class dedicated to the domestication of monsters, the [Monster Tamer] can exert his will through those monsters he has bonded with and act as a variety of roles based on his bonds.

Example Skills: Soul Link, Monster Husbandry, Monster Lore, First Aid, Empathic Link

Experience is gained through: Taming Monsters, Monster Utilization in Combat, Training

The fourth choice was another one Myles would have never considered. It was a specialize class and sounded a lot like being a [Rancher], but the way they put the animals to use was completely different. While a [Rancher] raised animals for the slaughter or sale, the [Monster Tamer] raised them for combat. In the back of his mind, Myles seemed to recall there had been leagues for [Monster Tamers] too, but he didn’t understand why people would put their animals though that. Then again, he didn’t know enough about it to really judge. Still as he thought about the way that slime had nearly dissolved his flesh and slopped up what would have been left so easily, the flexibility of such a class was hard to ignore. Besides, the clothing seemed comfortable - a long coat, gloves, some kind of silver mantle, and a half cape.

With the four already examined, that left only one.

[Doughsmith]

Class Type: Support - Utility

Requirements: [Baker] Class, Deft Hands, Agility: 5, Endurance: 5

Description: Half Baked? I think not. A variant of the [Blacksmith] class, the [Doughsmith] works with specialty crafted doughs laced with a variety of alchemical ingredients to bake armor and weapons on the fly. Lighter than platemail and stronger than chain, [Doughsmith] armor and weapons can also be used as food in a pinch. They truly are the upper crust of specialty crafters.

Example Skills: Phantom Oven, Alchemical Lore, Alchemical Cooking, Twice Baked Armor Lore

Experience is gained through: Crafting, Cooking, Alchemical Success Rate, Barter

Did all of these fusion classes really have to have such strange, niche uses? He assumed the lack of strength was because it took his hands to kneed and work the dough, but that still didn’t seem right. At first glance, it didn’t look any different than some [Baker]s he knew did, a dirty apron, covered in dough, some tool that looked like a rolling pin, a bench knife, and… a helmet made from…. Bread? Still, the class seemed too niche to him. With all the regular crafters that were more than likely going to be around and with the visiting merchants, it wouldn’t be profitable or practical, so he couldn’t support himself in the long run of the Run.

The more Myles thought about it, the more it came down to two - [Tactician] and [Monster Tamer]. Outside of [Brawler] which he didn’t feel a real pull towards, those two were the only ones that could really handle themselves and secure him an in with a long-term group, so Myles began to weigh the pros and cons of the choices.

From the start, the [Tactician] would be useful. With skills like Pinpoint Weakness and Monster Lore, he could find the weak points of his opponents, strike them hard, and help those around him be prepared for a fight. If he was good at it, Myles would make every battle end quickly and efficiently, but if he understood it right, he wouldn’t be a class with a lot of damage potential on his own. It didn’t have many downsides as a whole, but if he wanted to make the most of it, he’d need people around him to fully take advantage of his class choice.

On the other hand, being a [Monster Tamer] would let him be a force unto himself. He’d already beaten a slime into submission with his trusty pole, so what would it take to convince something else to join him rather than meet its end at the sharp end of a pointy stick? Granted, it would be more dangerous to start, but once he got established, he would be able to do anything. Two of the potential skills made him pause though: Empathic Link and Soul Link. He knew what the terms meant, an empath was an individual that could feel emotions, and a link was a connection. That was easy enough to figure out, but what would it do? Soul Link sounded more dangerous. How would his soul link to something else?

When focusing on the class and skill, nothing came up. So that was no help.

In the end, both would be useful, but which one would be more useful?

Surviving the Run was his first goal, and both would help him do that. So that was no help, but what about later? What did he want to do if… when he survived this?

Well? Who didn’t want to make money and travel?

As a [Monster Tamer], he’d have to travel to find new monsters, train for tournaments, and scour monster hives for loot and allies. Eventually he’d probably need a big place, a ranch or something out in the countryside to raise and keep them all, and that appealed to him. He wouldn’t mind a nice place when this was all over to call his own, but he’d probably have that either way.

As a [Tactician], he could probably get an employ with the Royal Guard of Kess, lead men, defend his country, and if he were good enough, meet with royals on a regular basis. His skills would more than likely have other uses he wasn’t seeing too. A negotiation was tactical, right? He could be used there too, but would he ever be able to retire and enjoy his life away from battle?

That sealed it.

Moving his focus to the [Monster Tamer], Myles put his will behind his choice and saw the world turn blue.

You have selected the [Monster Tamer] Class as your new primary Class.

This Class is compatible with [Baker] and will not overwrite your current Skills and Traits.

Would you like more information about Dual Classing?

Myles stared at the white letters on the new blue world. Wait, he had an option? Were there draw backs? Though he didn’t have a mouth, Myles tried to project the affirmative, and waited.

He was not disappointed.

Tutorial Requested.

Though not as easily obtained through normal means, dual classing is a natural pursuit that involves learning two complimentary skill sets in which one is the primary growth model while the other is subservient. This makes the primary class stronger but restricts what the two classes can learn. Neither class can learn skills that will interfere with the other and some skills may end up replaced or otherwise altered by the union.

In addition to this, dual classes offer unique opportunities to the classes that would not be allowed otherwise. For example, A cleric could dual class as a oracle, but would be unable to learn curses due to the restrictions on the primary class. In exchange, their holy skills would gain more flexibility.

Tutorial has finished.

Would you like to dual class?

So, he could use what he already knew to give him an edge? Maybe being a [Baker] wasn’t such a bad thing after all…

With a mental nod, he accepted the offer, and the world went white as that mush in where his chest should have been began to move and burn. It was subtle at first, no warmer than an enchanted winter blanket, but then the power began to grow. Just as it had before, the heat felt like a roaring inferno erupting from his heart in less than a handful of seconds, so he screamed.

New Primary Class Acquire:

[Monster Tamer] has become your primary class.

[Baker] has become a secondary class.

New Skills Obtained: Soul Link, Empathic Link, Monster Lore

New Secondary Skill Obtained: Species Nutritional Lore

Utility Skills Obtained: Interface, Form Party, Party Communication, Need/Greed
