《Congratulations, You're Dead!》# 96

Instead of going into Riverton, I take us upstream to get the water. The Janwick is a good sized river, so I can pull up as much water as I am able to without lowering it too much. But, even with all of us working together, it still takes a fair bit of time to suspend a lake's worth of water.

"Okay, we're close enough." I call out, and stop diverting the river into the sky. "This is about as much as I feel comfortable handling at once." Luckily the wind is with us, so I really only have to speed it up a bit.

"Are you sure?" Now that she's not focused on making the clouds, she can see just how much of the sky they've covered. "That's a lot of clouds."

"Yeah, but the wind will be doing most of the work, it's actually pretty fast up high." Apricot and Gwynne nod along in agreement with my statement. "Still, I'm going to fly up there with it to keep everything under control. Do you want to fly with me, or follow on the ground?"

"..." Amelia looks torn.

"I can shift and carry all of you." Gwynne offers.

"...Nnnh, okay." My little acrophobe finally relents.

"Alright." I smile and pull the three of them into a group hug before raising my fist Superman-style. "Up up, and away."

The squeal from Amelia was worth the effort I put into launching us upwards at speed. I swear Mittens rolls his eyes at her before curling up on her bossom to go back to sleep.

"I've got it from here." Gwynne says and peels away to transform once we reach the clouds. "Hop on." A much deeper voice commands as she lines up underneath us.

"Uh, you're a bit bumpy." I say as delicately as I can. "Mind if I add a saddle?"

"Mmm, kinky." Apricot purrs, and I swear I can see Gwynne blush through her scales.

"...That's fine." It's so cute to see this world's apex predator looking bashful. "But, make sure to get rid of it before my girls see, or they'll start bugging me for rides again."

"Can do." I add padded cushions and safety straps for us, and a special light-weight harness for Mittens... just in case.

""Good idea."" My wives say in sync.

"I'm going to sink my mind into the storm now." I say and start doing just that. "Just fly back home as fast as you can."

...

*Ding*

Mana Master is now level 2.

The notification from Temmie is the first thing that I notice after coming back to myself. The second is that Apricot and Amelia decided to have a little fun while dragonback. The third is that Mittens is now sitting in my lap with a smug look on his face, and his harness is nowhere to be found.

"Thanks Temmie, and sorry bud." I apologize by scratching his ears. "I should have just asked you not to jump off the dragon, but you were sleeping and I had to focus on the magic."

"Mrrr." A stream of water vapor flows off of his tentacle, only to condense into water droplets that fall on my head. Mittens then chuffs a laugh before purring.

"Okay, I guess I deserved that." I stroke his fur as he curls up into a ball on my lap and goes back to sleep with a pleased expression on his face.

"You guys have one weird cat." Gwynne's rumbling laughter can beet felt through the seat. "We're almost there, can you get rid of this harness now? And, you two, please quit having sex on me. It is very frustrating."

"Oh, you poor dragon." Amelia leans forward and pats her scales before getting a wicked smile. "You've never had sex in this form have you? Sorrel, do you think you can push your Embiggen spell enough to make you dragon sized?"

"Uhh..." Gwynne starts, but I talk over her. "Well, I did just hit level two in Mastery."

"Congrats." Apricot shoot me a thumbs up.

"Thanks." I smile at her and ignore the nervous looks the dragon is giving me. "I should be able to manage it, but do you want me to do her as a human, or should I shift into a plant dragon or something."

"Do I have any say about this?" The dragon in question interjects.

"Of course you do." Amelia pats her again. "But, are you really saying you don't want to try it at least once?"

"Uhh... Let me think about it." Gwynne blushes again.

"Well, that's something to look forward to." I grin. "But, right now, I think it's time to make it rain."

Despite her rule about themed songs, Apricot fiddles with her watch and quickly brings up the Ed Sheeran song. Amelia just smiles and shakes her head, but our ride is confused until the chorus plays.

"So, it's alright when you do it?" I accuse playfully before lifting us all off of Gwynne and getting rid of the saddle. Apricot just sticks her tongue out at me, so I get on with filling the lake. "Can you three-"

"Mrow." Mittens interjects.

"Okay, can you four focus on filling the small lake while I handle the big one?" All of them nod at my request, Gwynne only after shifting back to human.

"Bet I do the most." Apricot crows. She doesn't really have magic of her own since she is magic. But, she can control mana like it's nodoby's business, and these clouds are brimming with the stuff.

They fill it up pretty quickly, and Apricot does indeed win her bet, but only just. Amelia's the competitive type, and well Gwynne's a water dragon after all. A dragon that was very surprised that a human and Pixie could use her element even better than she could.

Amelia, having had enough flying for the day, lands by the upper lake and decides to go for a swim. Apricot is having fun throwing magic around, and decides to spread it as far as she can and water the forest.

But, when Gwynne decides to come help me fill the big lake, I notice something as the rain under her control passes over the village and the women who came out to watch.

"Did you feel that?" I ask her.

"Feel what?" She looks confused.

"This!" I have a manic look as I send some rain to wash over the Village again. Only for my face to fall as nothing happen. "What? That should have worked. Hmm, You try it, it must be your magic."

"Ooookay." She seems skeptical, but sends a sprikling over the women again, most of whom have retreated back indoors at the repeated soakings.

"There, can you feel it?" I grab her hand and take us down to Kacey and Clara and they play in the rain. "Look at them."

"It's like they're soaking in my magic..." Her mouth goes wide as she makes the connection. "It's the missing puzzle piece!"

"Sure looks like it." I smile and call the girls over. "Would you two mind helping us with an experiment? I think we found out how to unlock your bloodlines."

"What?" - "Really?" They look hopeful, excited, and a little bit fearful. "What do you need?" Clara is the first to volunteer, with Kacey chiming right after. "Just tell us what we need to do."

"Just drink this and play in the rain." No way am I missing out watching this happen, so I hand them each a tall glass of Sap to drink. "Gwynne, keep it gentle, but pour as much Mana as you can into the water."

"Yeah, I can do that." She starts after the girls finish drinking.

Meanwhile I'm mapping out their bodies and running as many scans as I can think of. Not bothering to record the data, because I know I'll be able to recall and sort through it all later.

"Yes, that's it. They need more though." I conjure a large tub around the two. "Much better, just keep pouring your magic into the water." It takes a minute before I can sense a qualitative change to their bodies. I confirm it with an Evaluate, and there's no more question marks, they both read as full Sirens now. "It's done, it worked."

""It worked?"" All three of them, and the crowd of villagers that formed while I was distracted, shout at the same time. I just grin and display the notification for them all to see. ""It worked!""

"It worked." I conjure a seat and sit down to let the info dump work its way through my brain.

"You alright?" Apricot must have noticed the commotion and brought Amelia down to see what was going on.

"Yeah, it's a bit like when I did the library thing." I explain with a tired smile. "Not nearly as bad though, I just need a minute for it all to settle down."

"Okay." She smiles back. "Apricot said you were running so many scans that she couldn't even look because the magic was so bright."

"I want to do the same for a Moura, but it looks like Gwynne is almost drained right now."

"We can't all walk around with a Mana Well hanging around our necks." She pants out, but doesn't quit beaming at the girls.

"Have you two tried talking to Sytem-chan yet?" I ask the new Sirens after the villagers quit congratulating them.

"I forgot." Kacey exclaims. "Status! Inventory! Aww, It's greyed out because I'm level zero."

""Hahahah."" *Ding**Ding**Ding* We all have a little laugh at the contortion her face went through.

"I'll sneak you all into the dungeon tonight, so you can get your first level." I say to cheer her up. "But, now we need to get the rest of you unlocked." I hold out my hand to Gwynne, and start filling her with mana once she takes it.

"What order do we go in?" a woman in the middle of the crowd asks.

"They've already started with the youngest." Lana answers. "Might as well continue in that vein." The rest of the elders murmur their approval.

This works for me since Karen is a Moura. So, once Gwynne is topped off, we repeat the scene, and the world gets its first full-blooded Moura.

"Okay." I say once my head clears. "This is going to take all day if we do it one at a time. Why don't we all go to the hotsprings and see just how much of me Gwynnie can handle." A round of titters spring up as she blushes beet-red.

"Nice one." Apricot gives me a wink and a nudge.

"Don't worry Gwynne, I'll go slow and gentle." I bring Blackthorne out to full-size and slide my hand down its length. "I don't think you could take all of me at once... Not yet, at least." The titters turn into raucous laughter as the flush covers her whole body and she shrinks in on herself.

Gwynne really did try her best, but she wasn't even able to take half of what I had to offer. Even so, it didn't take long to unlock the rest of the village. Quite a few of them started an impromptu celebration. So, I pulled a gaping Clara outside.

"They're pretty open about sex here." I tell her. "But, you never have to do anything you're uncomfortable with. And, if anyone does make you feel uncomfortable just tell me or Gwynne, okay."

"Okay." She says and starts blushing.

"Alright." I pat her on the head. "Why don't you call your mom and give her the good news."

"Yeah." she nods and then gulps as the sounds of splashing, and giggles reach her ears. "Can we go to your place Kacey?"

"Don't worry about them." Her friend re-assures her as they walk away. "Just remember to stay upwind when they rope Gwynne into starting a 'party'."

"Remind me to add air filters to the list of enchantments I'm going to add to the houses." I tell Amelia before directing my Magical attention to the clouds once again. "Want to help me finish off the lake?"

"I'll help." Gwynne comes running up. "I can't do that pheromone thing everyday, no matter how much they beg me."

"I'm gonna go back to swimming." Amelia begs off. "Too much rushing around lately, I just want to relax for a bit."

"I'm with you." Apricot shrinks down and lands on her head.

"Just you and me then." I wink at the dragoness and fly into the sky when she blushes.

"Remember to save it for tonight." Amelia warns, so I sweep back down and give her a kiss.

"Rea." I greet my favorite mayor when she picks up the call. "Is everything ready?" I can already sense that the preparations are complete, but it doesn't hurt to be polite.

"Yes, Sir." She answers promptly. "The inner yard is blocked off and no men are in sight."

"Good, we're landing... now." I set a village's worth of women down on the ground. "Everyone, this is Rea Garman, mayor of Circle Orchard. Rea, this is the entire population of Dragon Falls. Gwynne here looks after them, but I think the day to day stuff is handled by Lana and the rest of the elders." I gesture to a group of women who most definitely do not look their age.

"A pleasure to meet you all." She smiles at her new neighbors. "And congratulations on unlocking your bloodlines."

"That's all thanks to Sorrel here." Lana steps forward.

"It was mostly luck." I wave off the look of admiration she and most of the others send me. "If you want to thank anyone, thank Clara. She's the one who set off this little adventure."

The girl in question blushes and squirms in place as the villagers turn their attention towards her.

"Lord? Is that you?" A tiny voice enters my ear as the glowing wisp decides to finally show himself.

"Yes Thalian, and yes I'm Plantkin. Don't feel too bad for not recognizing me as one, I was raised human. Apricot was even fooled for weeks, I don't think she even believed me when I first shifted."

"Is everything alright?" He stares from my arm, which is almost elbow length again, to the gathered women.

"Yes, I just happened to find a village full of two brand new species, and they just happened to be guarded by an over-protective dragon." I share a chuckle with the girls as Gwynne blushes. "They're all level zero right now, though. So, they're going to go in a few at a time, get their first level, and come back out."

"Ah, I was wondering why the traffic was so light today." He bobs in place, this being the fae version of a nod. "There shouldn't be a problem sending them all in. They'll only need a single kill to get their first, and Co has more than enough critters for all of them."

"Good news." I beam at the tiny man, and materialize a crate of chocolate. "For you and your clan as a reward for managing the dungeon. It's called chocolate, is quite tasty, and has an intoxicating effect on the fae. So, you know... don't eat too much at once." I laugh at the enticed look he gives the crate.

"Conjured water helps with the hang-over when you do." Apricot adds from personal experience.

"Thank you lord." He flies down to the bow like he's going to haul it into the dungeon right then and there. "Uhh..." He realizes the problem once he touches it.

"Hahaha. Don't worry, I'll put it in the core room for you." I put my words into action. "Thanks again, and have fun tonight." With that dismissal he flies off after the crate. "How much you wanna bet they pester Co into reproducing it for them after eating it all tonight?"

"Hah!" Apricot snorts. "No bet, wisps may be more formal than most Fae, but they still know how to party. So, there's no way that box is gonna last the night."

"Is that true about it getting them drunk?" Rea asks.

"Oh, yeah. But, if you wanna see something really funny, you should give them some coffee." I laugh as Apricot reveals one of her rare blushes. "Alright, everyone. Let's get this done so we get back home." The look I send Gwynne lets everyone know exactly why I don't want to waste any time. "Group up and come get your equipment."

I bring out a crate and turn it into a table to display ten hand-held crossbows loaded with spreader bolts like the one Nev showed me. Ten short swords made of steel, but edged with diamond sharpened to a single atom's width. And, ten bucklers that could stop a shot from a sniper rifle. No armor, because the enchantments on their bracelets are more than enough to deal with anything that gets past the shields.

"The plan is simple, go in, find a critter, shoot it. If it's not dead, drop the bow, and finish it with sword and shield." The crossbows are more than tough enough to handle the abuse, and I'll be fixing them up between trips anyways. "Do not touch the blades!" I warn as Kacey was about to do just that. "It will slice your fingers off like they're not even there."

"Trust him on this girls." Gwynne calls out. "He's got a knife that can cut through my scales just as easily." Kacey gulps and puts the sword back in its scabbard.

"Just don't wave it about and you'll be fine." I re-assure her. "Stick with simple vertical chops, and straight stabs." I pick up a sword and conjure a rat-shaped wooden target to demonstrate on. The blade slices it in half with only minimal effort.

"Can I get some of these for my kitchen?" Madeline breaks the tension with a joke.

"Sure, I'll even make you some chainmaille gloves so I don't have to come out every day to grow your fingers back." I tease.

"I have not nicked myself with a blade in decade, thank you very much." She puffs up until Lana punctures her indignant facade.

"Hah, what about the last time you tried to cook drunk?" This proclamation sets a bunch of the women laughing. "I seem to remember having to use an entire roll of bandages to staunch the bleeding."

"... Don't we have levels to be getting?" The embarrased cook tries to change the subject.

"Good point." Gwynne speaks up. "First team head on in, keep your heads straight, and you'll be fine."

They did, and they were, as were most of the others. The worst of the injuries was from one woman who freaked out that a big bug climbed on her foot. She swiped at it with the sword and cut her foot in half along with the bug. Fortunately the blade was so sharp she didn't even feel it before I could yank her out of there and re-attach it.

Other than that, there were just a few twisted ankles, and one friendly fire incident where a bolt just clipped the arm of a woman who swung her sword at the same time her friend fired.

"Good job everyone... well, mostly everyone." They all snicker when I glance at the woman who cut her own foot in half. "And, thank you Rea for letting us intrude here tonight."

""And, thank you chocolate!"" A bunch of drunken wisps bump into each other as they fly out of the entrance to say goodbye.

"And, with that, I think it's time we got back home. Uh... good luck Rea." I pat the mayor on her shoulder and lift the villagers into the air. "Have fun. And, Thalian. here's a Rune that conjures water. You're gonna need it. Hahaha." I can't help but laughing at the look Rea sends after my retreating form.

"So much for wisps being shy." Apricot snorts at her magical cousin's antics.
