《The Legendary Class》That Wasn't The Hard Part???

Arn found the usually bustling main street somehow empty. Finally, as Arn approached the blacksmith’s shop, his friend Deon, the apprentice, stormed out with carrying four pitchforks and almost took his head off.
“Watch where your going Tiny!” Arn cried, using his nickname for his short, but broad shouldered friend.
“Sorry Arn! Wha…is that blood? And vomit? What in the name of the Seven Gods happened to you??” Arn’s cheeks reddened, realizing he had forgotten to wash. “Um, well, I was attacked by a warg, died…ah died twice actually, AND GOT A LEGENDARY CLASS!”
“Fine, don’t tell me. Just go clean up before someone like Ms. Slovoworth sees you.”
Arn sighed deflated a bit. “I’m going to see the Elder. You can come along if you like. Hear the story for yourself. “ Deon nodded, “absolutely. This is going to be good I’m sure. Just don’t stand too close!”
Arn and Deon made their way to the Elder’s home uneventfully and were greeted with a hearty “come in!” after knocking. Looking up from a journal he was writing in, Elder Dannis’ jaw dropped. “You look like a necromancer’s reanimated corpse boy! Are you alright?!”
“Actually…your not far wrong Elder. I died twice today, and the day is still young. Show Elder Dannis Status.”
The Elder’s expression froze. “Start at the beginning, tell me everything!”
After Arn recited the tale, the Elder nodded. “Incredible tale. I’m glad your ok. I’ll help you find the right path forward of course. You desperately need a bath, but...um, give me the information first, so I can think out the plan. Read me your class description word for word, and then we will do the skills.”
“THANK YOU! But I’ve thought about it, and I don’t need to try to be the next Titan. I’ll stay in the village and become a Guard.”
Elder Dannis sighed. “I’m sorry, but probably not. We can obviously forgive you for taking a class without permission. But whatever this class does, it isn’t going to give you 16 in Archery like Talissa, who will take the Skirmisher class at the Spring Festival. She worked for years for that. Zane will take the Guard class. He already has 13 in swordsmanship, 9 strength and 8 dexterity. While it’s a common class, it will take about half as much experience to level as a legendary class. Guard also provides experience for training, meaning he can level without risking death. He won’t get as many stat points, but almost all of that will go to strength and dexterity. Constitution isn’t irrelevant of course, but you will never catch up if you stay. Zane would have no trouble dancing around and slowly whittling you down, regeneration or not. Or just cut off your head. No, I’m sorry Arn, I’ll listen to the class description and skills, but I don’t think they are going to help. You’ll have a bright future, and I’ll help you find it. This can be a good thing. But your class doesn’t fit the village’s needs. You’ll have to leave the village to find your way. I’m sorry son. “

Arn stuttered, crestfallen, “but…I have a legendary class, surely…” Elder Dannis suddenly blurred, slapping Arn before he processed the Elder was moving. “Wha…why??” Dannis sighed. “Arn, did your class help you dodge that? Did you sense it coming? Do you have a skill that could stop me from doing that again?” The Elder paused. “Listen to me, and listen well. This may save your life. You aren’t living a story. You aren’t a Titan of Legend. Each legendary class is unique, they can do some things, but not others, and if you don’t learn the difference, you will die. You may die regardless. You know I was a Senior Captain in the army many years ago, yes? Well, we had a legendary Beast Shifter. He could cut up a creature, mess around with its parts…disgusting…and he would be able to take its form. The army helped him level and brought him beasts in exchange for extending his enlistment. They even captured a wyvern for him! Lost a good man doing it too. A wyvern is an incredibly powerful creature for, I think he was around level 12 at that point. But the army had him fly a scouting mission during the Xelos incursion. They forgot he didn’t have scouting experience, forgot that he had hardly flown, forgot that wyvern was newer to him than a baby’s bottom, and he blundered into General Yall’s task force. Got shot by our own men, died like any other, legendary class or not. You hear me? Understand what I’m saying?”
“I … yes sir, I do. My heart problem is fixed I guess, but I’m still not wanted here.” Dannis scowled, “quit your whining boy. You know I love you like my own son. If your careful, you can really amount to something now, end up rich enough to buy the village with your pocket money. But you took the class, and we can’t force fit a Revenant into a Guard or any other class we need right now. But we skipped ahead like fools. Read me the class description and the skill choices now.”

REVENANT (LEGENDARY) – The Revenant class treats death like a difficult bowel movement – something that must be endured from time to time, but not a major inconvenience. Blessed with powerful regeneration and able to gain resistances with ease, the Revenant is extremely difficult to kill in the first place, and in the rare instances when he is killed, will resurrect with accelerated regeneration and bonuses to all stats for a period of time. Familiarity with life and death provides the Revenant with powerful skill choices to keep himself and his allies fighting.
CLASS ATTRIBUTES AND INHERENT SKILLS
- receives 4 Constitution per level, as well as 4 user allocable stat points. The Revenant receives one skill point at level one, and an additional point every fifth level;
- gains resistances more easily, and resistances require less experience to level;
- cannot be healed by alchemical means or the magic of another;
- gains more experience the closer he is death.
- regenerates 10% of health in: 20 minutes when above 80% health; 10 minutes when above 60% health; 2 minutes when above 40% health; 20 seconds when above 20% health and in 5 seconds when below 20% health.
- up to [once] per day, on death, absent catastrophic damage, will automatically resurrect and all stats and resistances will be increased by 10 for 10 seconds, and the Revenant will regenerate health at the rate of 5% per second for 5 seconds.
- Complete Regeneration. If not permanently killed, regeneration will continue until Revenant restored to baseline condition. Certain conditions, such as lost limbs, will slow regeneration.
SKILLS: (1 Skill Point Unallocated)
Death’s Scream (Death): The Revenant’s scream conveys what it is like to die, potentially stunning enemies and doing a modest amount of damage. Chance and duration of stun varies with distance, skill levels and resistances. Consumes stamina. Successive uses on the same target are less effective.
Drain Life (Death): The Revenant’s touch can drain some of an enemy’s life force and take it for his own. Unlocks Drain Life skill path.
Drag Me Back (Life): The Revenant is able to resurrect an ally. This is a channeled skill, and the cast time and amount of health restored varies with skill level. Resurrection in this manner is said to be horrifying, and all but the strongest willed may experience difficulty focusing for a time.
Living Aura (Life): The Revenant exudes an aura that provides a portion of his regenerative ability to nearby allies and fixes their souls in place for a short time after otherwise fatal damage. Regeneration granted, range and duration of soul hold vary with skill level.
“Well! Those are some nice skills son! As I thought, you have an incredibly bright future ahead of you, **if** you are willing to work harder than you ever have, endure pain you’ve never imagined and risk death on a daily basis. Makes me wish I was young again. Almost. Not really. Well, go take a bath and we will talk about your … bright future … when you get back.”

Legends of Balarel - A Leisurely LitRPG
Glenn Redwood has longed to become an Adventurer since he was a young boy, and has focused every waking moment on that goal since turning 14. Answering the challenge of the Gods of Balarel, he has fought Monsters, Leveled, and grown stronger. Yet the day before his 16th birthday, the day he will earn his dream or lose it forever ... the Gods have made a wager. And no mere mortal wishes to draw the attention of the Gods. ***** This is my crack at writing a leisurely LitRPG. My focus is more on telling interesting stories set in a world where people live under a MMORPG-like ruleset enforced by the Gods, and less on writing another story where the MC gets massive stat boosts every chapter before heading off to wreck the world. There will be plenty of blue tables (it’s LitRPG!) but my Adventurers are just starting out. This fic is about the journey, not the destination, so expect everyone to Level ... leisurely. Updates: M-T-W-Th. I’ll post 3000-4000 words a day, or 12000-15000 words a week. If this posting pace ends up being too much for me, I reserve the right to slow posts down a bit. Inspirations: Blessed Time (Royal Road) Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In a Dungeon? (Anime) Trails in the Sky (JRPG Series) MC: My MC is a genuinely good person who’s both a talented warrior and tactically savvy. He prefers to solve problems without violence but will resort to force if necessary to protect his friends or innocent people. I’m tired of stories starring anti-hero MCs facing endless doom and gloom, so I wanted to write a nice guy with an adventurous spirit who helps people in a thriving fantasy world. That’s all.
