There are many theories to this, be it the Codex itself, or the ancient gods. The most recognized truth is that the Enlightened are a product of the Infernal Lords and the Heavenly Judges, the two pantheons of old governing the qualities of the sapient, of the Enlightened. Whereas Monsters are a product of the Chaos gods, hailed by either their supposed arrival or awakening. Then it remains to speculate, who did the gods of Void create? Where is their spawn? Or did they simply... annihilate?"
