《The Floating Dungeon》Chapter 54

As the two anchors ripped out of the ground, Amy knew that she was screwed.

With a sudden lurch of the iceberg it started finally moving, following the currents, waves, and the wind, the iceberg sped quickly along the water into and over the amware trench reef.

In desperation, as Amy did not want to leave where she was, she started throwing her anchors down to catch onto something long enough to create more anchors to full anchor down.

It did not matter that her territory reached the ground if the anchors did not catch.

Over and over did Amy throw the anchors hard into the ground as she was pulled into the heart of the reef before the iceberg came to a sudden stop when one of the anchors hooked onto something.

Quickly Amy found a large and deep rock to hook the other anchor on before she felt secure enough to make two more anchors to make sure she stayed in place.

She quickly crafted and hardened two chains and two anchors coming out the other two corners of the iceberg before placing them in strategic positions to ensure they did not get ripped out again.

As soon as all of anchors were placed securely, Amy let a breath out. What just happened was both heartwrenching and panic-inducing, but hopefully, the anchors would hold till the end of the storm.

It did not matter that the territory that she controlled reached below the sand where she had been floating for a while. The territory was not the actual land itself but the area, so she did not have as much control as what she had inside her dungeon. So that was no help in trying to stay in place.

For the next couple of days, Amy stayed tense and watched the anchors in case they started moving in the storm again.

As the storm died down, Amy started to feel less and less tense. Overall, the storm lasted for five days, and she did not know really where she was or how far the storm pushed her.

During the storm, Amy did not have a look around this new location due to the fear that the anchors would snap out of the ground again. But now that it died down, she started to have a look around.

What she saw shocked her. A 100 metres away from her iceberg, there was a very large and very deep cut in the ground with a new type of mana slightly coming out from the cut.

In shock, Amy went to Calder to confirm her suspicions of what was her location.

Hey Calder, what does a trench look like?

"Hmm? Oh, a trench is a vast and deep cut that can reach deep into the earth that has trench mana escaping from the cut."

As soon as Amy heard Calder's description of what a trench was, Amy figured that the storm pushed her westwards into the centre of the awmare trench, right next to the actual trench. Though it is a "dead" trench, powerful monsters can still spawn from it and come out of it, so that was a worrying prospect for her.

Being this close to the trench and being in the middle of the reef led to a bunch of new possibilities. But it also led to some problems, like she did not know how far east it was to exit the reef, and she still had some business that she needed to conduct there.

The business that she needed to do was still to figure out what historical or archeological thing allowed Carter to obtain his archeologist title. And as of now, Amy had no clue how far into the reef she went and how dangerous it would be for her archeologist hydrius salamander and his group to go through the reef. Another problem Amy could foresee is how big or heavy the archeological things are to bring it back to her because if it was obtainable, she wanted it.

Luckily when she was throwing her anchors down trying to catch it onto something, it created damage. Depending on how fast the reef healed the damage, it could be a path for her salamanders to follow. But that was for a later time, as right now, she needed to get situated and look around the area for anything that may be obviously dangerous to her. She also had to tell Calder where they ended up in the storm because she didn't think he knew that they moved at all.

Hey Calder?

"Yes, Amy?"

Uhm, I don't think you should exit the dungeon until I tell you so.

"Wait, why?"

Uh, the storm seemed to have pushed us into the amware trench reef, and we are right next to the trench opening...

As Amy trailed off speaking, Calder seemed to be in deep thought. Then, finally, after a bit of thought, Calder seemed to have his answer for her.

"Ya, I'm not stepping a foot outside your territory until we're in a safer area, have less a chance of mana burn, and have less unpredictable monster species. Also, if monsters or creatures start invading the dungeon during this time, I would like to request a temporary room change to your third floor for my safety."

Amy already figured that he would take the safest option but was still surprised he was willing to step out of the sub-dimension. She also considered what he said about the potential of invasions, and since he was living there permanently until they moved, she should make a temporary sleeping area on the third floor for him.

Lucky for her, she already had an idea of where to place this temporary nest. So there was just one thing to ask him.

That's fine with me, though I may ask you to help retrieve something, but it's unclear for now if I would need your help. Anyways, in your new home, would you prefer sleeping in water or outside of it?

"That's fine as long as I don't have to leave your territory. Either way, I suppose it is fine. I don't particularly care."

With Calder's response, Amy started working on his temporary home.

On the third floor, there is a steep drop with an underwater cliff face that she could use to create his new home.

She chose a spot at the bottom of the cliff in the middle of the floor to start making his home.

Amy started out by forming a two-metre by two-metre wide tunnel made out of ice that is enhanced to be strong enough to not break under the weight of the sand. Then, she started growing the tunnel so that it was shaped like a half-circle and was 30 metres in length. The next thing that Amy did with the tunnel was to shift the tunnel to go upwards and then do another half circle that had a steady incline. As the incline occurred, it started to be filled less and less with water. Eventually, she reached the point where there was no water in the tunnel after another 10 metres.

At the end, where there was no water in the tunnel, Amy grew a room with ice after moving most sand out of the tunnel. The room ended up being 10 metres by 10 metres. She then covered the room with some glowing moss and a lot of arctic moss.

As soon as she finished, she allowed Calder to be able to move between the floors without having to defeat the floor bosses since he was technically a part of her like one of her creatures until the contract had run out. This allows her to do this and allows Calder to bring his stuff to his new home.

Once Amy allowed Calder to go through the barriers, she showed him his new home. She watched him for a bit as he explored his new home, then started looking around her new area.

Little did she know, something was watching the iceberg.
