《The Floating Dungeon》Chapter 52

POV Amy

After Amy finished off with the mini reef creatures, she spent a lot of time designing the rainfall forest and the floating mangrove island. More than the time that she had taken designing was the above-water environment.

Most of the underwater species were chosen from a lot of what she already had, but there weren't a lot of above water species. So she only had, and this was for the floating island and the rainfall forest, eight creatures to put in that environment.

After she summoned, grew, and placed those eight creatures throughout the island and the rainfall forest. Though some of those creatures would not be seen in both environments. Creatures like sodden salamanders, ocean swallows, and transparent dart frogs were only placed in the rainfall forest. While the tapapa, the chicken, and the swamp geckos were only placed on the mangrove island.

Some of the species that she had to hatch when they hatched were interesting. The tapapa, for example, looked like some type of hawk, and the chicken well looked like a chicken.

Well, either way, there were not enough creatures to place in either habitat, and she also wanted to make some of her creatures more dangerous.

The first creature that she made more dangerous was the chicken. To make the chicken more dangerous, she took a mana string and started making the chicken's claws a lot more sharper. She also grew these wing claws on the chicken's wings that were just as sharp as the claws on its feet.

When the description was pulled up, she saw the system-approved version of what she had created.

Razor Claw Chicken

A species of wild chicken with razor-sharp claws.

Another creature that she started playing around with was one that she had thought about for a while, the rain drop dragonfly. Amy had been thinking about this insect for a while. The rain drop dragonfly had the potential to be very harmful if experimented on and improved correctly.

So Amy hollowed out its raindrop-like tail and placed sulfuric acid in it. As the acid burnt through its skin, she healed it over and over again until it stopped burning the dragonfly. Amy took this as the sign to pull up its description to see if it had changed. And it did.

Acid Drop Dragonfly

A species of dragonfly that holds a sac of sulfuric acid in its tail. The sac can be broken apart easily in defence.

The only other experiment that she did was with the transparent dart frogs. Amy wanted this one to be larger, almost like a toad, and be an active hunter. So with mana strings, she started to enlarge the frog, and then she found the poison sack of the frog. Curious about the poison sack, Amy began to play around with it and its role in the frog. Somehow she was able to disconnect the sac from the skin and connect it to the frog's throat.

In surprise, Amy left it stay attached and watched the frog. While the frog seemed okay, she decided to pull up its status screen to see what she did.

Spitting Dart Frog

A dart frog species that, instead of having its skin poisonous, will produce it’s own poisin and spit globs of poison at its enemies and prey.

The spitting dart frog was the end to her experiment for more creatures. Even though she did not have a lot of creatures that could live above water, Amy decided that she would have time later to continue to fill up these environments later.

Before she added her main monster in, all that was left was add the life to the rest of the non-main environment part of the floors. This was just her basically throwing in dangerous fish, ones that came in groups, and the other type of jellyfish that she had, the lion whiskers jellyfish.

After all that, it was finally time to add the pack of blood-eating monsters to the floor.

Amy started summoning lifeblood cuttlefish after lifeblood cuttlefish. Enough so that the monsters were in packs of around 10 to 20, while the largest pack, which was approximately 42 individuals, lived in the deeps of the southern floor.

Once the monsters were added, a peace fell over Amy. Her third floor, and in response, her core, was safe from invaders now. Even though she was going to make more monsters for this floor, it felt nice to know that the floor was protected in some way.

As she finished up with the third floor, she felt her hydrius salamander groups come back one after another. Thinking that it was strange that they were coming back at the same time, Amy decided to go and have a look at what was happening. Hopefully, it wasn't another hoard of monsters chasing after them.

What she saw was a storm coming on the horizon. But, it didn't look as big as the one that thrashed her around when she first became aware of what she was and what her new circumstances were.

Amy did not want to leave her current location, so she started preparing to ride out the storm.

Her bait area was connected by a chain of ice, which would probably be wrecked if she left it out in the storm. The only problem was that there was no area of ice big enough in her iceberg to place it, along with all the creatures and plants living with the ice bait.

So, in order to solve this problem, Amy decided that it was time to expand her iceberg. With ice mana, she made the edges of the iceberg expand in a way that made the iceberg more chunky. Overall she just expanded all the sides of the iceberg to make sure she had more room. After she expanded the iceberg, it added 10 metres to the overall longest points side to side and an additional 10 metres above the surface. As she expanded, she did not want to touch the height of the ice below the surface just in case she reached a really shallow part of the ocean.

With the iceberg expanded, Amy started strengthening the new areas of ice so nothing could damage it without a lot of force with her mana strings.

After that was done, Amy chose a section of new ice that was halfway in the water to hollow out. This way, with it so close to the outside, she could release the bait trap quickly and easily back into the water.

Amy started carving out a 20 metres in height by 15 metres in length hollow area that would soon be filled with water. As soon as the hollow area was done, she opened a hole big enough to pull the 10 metres in height and 5 metres in length bait environment through it.

With the hole opened, Amy removed the base of the chain that was attached to the iceberg and started pulling the bait environment to the hole. Along with the ice bait environment, she also pulled the surrounding creatures that lived on it towards the hole.

Soon enough, she was able to tug the bait environment into the hollow area, fill it up to the top with water, and pull all the creatures living into the hollow space as well before sealing it up.

Although Amy was preparing to weather out the storm, she did not close the two entrances to the portal room on the off chance that something might try to invade or an adventuring group would actually decide to venture into her dungeon.
