《The Floating Dungeon》Chapter 49

When Amy started working on the rainfall forest, she knew that there were going to be a lot more plants that she could work with. But she still wanted to share traits in between the plants, even the ones that would be placed underwater.

She was planning on using the travelling vine, hanging umbrella vine, glowing orchid, floating kelp, water pad pod, leafy seaweed, crystalline flowing flower, trench seagrass, heat brain coral, acid seaweed, and shard grass. But before she did anything with these plants, Amy wanted to figure out the kikaleo seed that she had received a while back.

So she took the seed and planted it on an empty part of the island, which was now three metres by three metres. She inserted a mana string into the seed and grew it. As the plant grew, she realized that it was a large flower with long petals and a lot of seeds in its centre, kind of like a sunflower from back on earth.

With all the plants lined up and ready, Amy started to do the experiments where she transferred traits between one or more plants to create new ones. She did this repeatedly and was able to create around half a dozen or so new plants. All of them were either a marine plant, a type of plant that grows on trees, or some sort of in-between.

Floating Vine

A species of carnivorous vine that floats on the top of the water and hunts small fish and amphibians.

Shard Pod

A type of floating lily pad that is soft when whole but when broken, it becomes as sharp as glass.

Glowing Kelp

A small species of kelp that produces a slight glow along its stem.

Fluffy Sea Grass

A species of seagrass that has a fluffy-looking appearance to it.

Dripping Flower

A species of hanging flower with raindrop-like vines gives the appearance that the flower is dripping water.

Heat Seaweed

A species of seaweed that will move towards the closest source of heat.

Acid Coral

A species of coral that releases sulfuric acid in defence of itself.

Wrapping Orchid

A type of orchid that will wrap itself around the trunk of a tree and grow upward.

Pleased with the outcomes of the shared trait experiments, Amy started laying down the rest of the plants to complete the plant look that she wanted for the rainfall forest environment.

She carefully placed the plants she had chosen and created throughout the forest. Most were either on the trees or under the water, but each plant had a part to play in making that environment the way she imagined it to be.

The end look was a mash of a shallow part of the ocean and a forest that grew out of it, and it was exactly what she wanted it to be. It was a beautiful mix between a forest and ocean environment.

With the plants for the floating mangrove island and the rainfall forest placed and grown, Amy moved onto the mini coral reefs.

Unlike the other main environments, Amy did not add that many plants to the reefs. She also did not experiment with any more plants because she did not want the reefs to have too many different types of plants since there was a wide variety of coral. But it still needed a few plants, so she placed leafy seaweed, red seaweed, and heat seaweed throughout and within the coral reefs. She was happy with the result and look that the other plants gave to the reefs.

Amy realized that she neglected essentially half of her floor for the main three environments.

The northern section of her dungeon was shallow, and it contained two of the three main environments. Still, the southern section had nothing since the third environment was the floating mangrove island. So that left a whole half of her section with no plants at all.

Well, she had to do something about that.

In her mind, she knew that she was obviously going to fill the whole southern section with kelp. But with what type of kelp species is the question.

Amy was going to use the icey kelp, but she wanted to add a bit of mystic to that area. Make it more mysterious, like something is hiding in it, and want to make adventurers want to explore, but nothing like her main environments.

As she looked through all her kelp and seaweed species, she saw one of her new species, the glowing kelp. But the problem with the glowing kelp was that it was a small species of kelp, a species that would not even grow half of the underwater height of that section. Nevertheless, she still wanted it, or at least something like that, which meant experimenting.

Unlike her recent strings of experimenting where she shared traits between different types of plants making new ones, this time, she was going to physically change the plant.

With her mana strings, Amy started to force the growth and elongate the strands of kelp so that they would grow huge. As her mana worked to do this, she injected another mana string to get that dull glow into something a lot more bioluminescent.

A bit of time tweaking and playing around with the glowing kelp finally wielded the results she was looking for.

With the experiment a success, Amy pulled the description for the new kelp.

Radiance Kelp

A species of ever continuously growing kelp that will only stop when it has run out of room to grow. This kelp has gained its name through the bright bioluminescence that is produced all the way up its stem.

This was exactly what she wanted to place throughout the icey kelp, and she did.

Two-thirds of the kelp placed in the southern section was the icey kelp, while one-third was the radiance kelp. To Amy, it just gave a mysterious, dangerous look to the water where adventurers could not see all the way down to the bottom.

Then it was done. All of the plants were placed, and she was halfway done with visualizing, designing, creating, and finalizing her third floor. Finally, with the whole floor having the environments designed and the plants planted, Amy started looking at the creatures she was going to add to the floor.

She decided that it was better to get the main environment that would probably have the most diverse population, the mini coral reefs, done first before moving on to the others.

Just as she started looking through some of the fish species that she had, a sharp pain emanating from her core yanked her from what she was doing.

This pain was different, and it was very painful. It was like the compound fracture that she had when she was human and was hit by a car.

Amy rushed back to her core to check to see if it was okay, and it appeared fine, but something was wrong.

Suddenly a blue screen encompassed her whole vision.

Warning!

You have not yet chosen your second-floor boss. If you continually refuse to select a floor boss, the pain will continue to worsen and will soon damage your core.
