《The Floating Dungeon》Chapter 43

Over the next couple of days, more and more adventures started coming into her dungeon, though there was a lull when it was night outside. But during those days, Amy has been collecting their mana passively and gaining even more mana when they are dead. She could feel that the mana was reaching maximum capacity soon. It was just going to be a waiting game to see what would happen after that capacity was met.

While she was waiting for it, Amy did not stay idle. Though not many adventurers gave her offerings and nothing dangerous at that, it did seem to be catching on. Every time a group or individual gifted her something, she would absorb it and look at it later.

So far, after about 10 days of this, she collected a total of 30 offerings in some form or another. Many of them were similar or the same to another, but she was grateful to them.

Amy pulled up all of the descriptions and started looking at them.

Horned Rabbit Jerky

A piece of dried meat made out of the common horned rabbit.

Patna Powder

An itching powder made up of a number of dried plants. It is mostly used as pranks and is not dangerous unless used in extreme amounts.

A type of seed that is commonly eaten as a snack.

Tapapa Egg

An infertile egg from a type of hunting bird common to the northernmost continent of Eoson.

Fertile Soil

A type of soil that has been blessed by a druid to increase plant growth.

Rusted Dagger

An old iron dagger that has seen better days.

Broken Rune Circuit

A fundamental set of runes connected on a piece of leather has scratches going through the runes.

Chicken Egg

An egg from a very common type of farm animal.

Sunfish

A species of fish that has colourful scales.

Rusted Iron Plate

A piece of armour that has become rusted.

Floating Kelp

A species of kelp that can be uprooted and grown in another place with the tides.

Ponosonee Starfish

Oak Seed

A species of tree that can be found anywhere in the world where it is slightly cold.

Swamp Gecko

A species of small gecko found within swampy areas.

She was quite happy with what she received, but Amy decided to put that on the side for now. Right now, she wanted to start experimenting with some of the plants and creatures that she already had.

As she was looking across the floors for a plant or creature to experiment with, Amy spotted a mantis shrimp. She figured that this species would work well for her experiment because its claws had ten times its size grip strength. Of course, it was dangerous by itself, but if she could enhance it in some way, then she could probably make it even more dangerous.

Hmmm, thought Amy, now how do I do this. As she stared at the shrimp, she decided the best course of action was to try to make the shrimp bigger.

She took a string of her mana and slowly started going over the shrimp. Once the string was in place and her mana was pumping through the shrimp, Amy began to shape its legs so they were bigger and stronger.

Once shaped the legs, Amy started working on its body. She did not want the body to grow that much; she still wanted to keep its small size, so instead, she started enhancing the segments of its abdomen and its head to make it much tougher and able to take a blow.

With the legs and body done, all that was left was the tail and its claws. Amy wanted this creature to be fast enough to swim away from danger, so she needed a stronger tail. With her mana, she started lengthening the tail so that it was about the size of its body. With the tail lengthened, she started strengthening the muscles that control the tail to make it more powerful.

All she had left to do was one of the most important parts, the claws. Unlike regular shrimp, the mantis shrimp had claws with extreme power but were still small enough to be used. They were only large enough to kill a five to ten-centimetre fish. And the claws were definitely not large enough to harm an invader or adventurer.

The claws needed to be much larger but not unruly to the point where the shrimp could not use or move them. It was a delicate balance, but with a bit of work, Amy was able to get it so that its claws were the size of its head, about five centimetres in length. Large enough to cause damage, like cut off a finger, but small enough to be moveable enough for the shrimp to actually use them.

Once she was happy with the shrimp, she took a step back and observed it. Compared to what it was before, it was much more powerful, faster, and had a greater defence. The shrimp even had a very light and small blue line running down its claws. Amy then pulled up the description for her new shrimp.

Greater Mantis Shrimp

An evolved species of mantis shrimp with mantis-like claws has a grip strength of ten times its body.

With the success of a new evolution of the mantis shrimp, Amy decided to continue experimenting to gain new evolutions.

This time though, she wanted to experiment with a plant, and she had a specific plant in mind, the yellow birch tree that was growing on her island. Except this time, she would not be using her own mana, but water mana. Her dungeon consisted of mostly water, so if she could add water mana to a land plant and somehow cross the two together, the results would be beneficial.

Unlike with the shrimp, where she was working with an already formed creature, Amy decided to try the experiment out with a yellow birch seed.

She took one of the seeds and pulled a strand of water mana that was circulating around in the water. Amy took the strand of water mana and inserted it into the seed. Once it was inserted, she started to wrap the strand around the seed like she was wrapping a gift.

After the water mana was wrapped around the seed, she started pushing the power of the water mana into the seed.

As the seed soaked up the water mana, it started to gain a light blue sheen to the light brown seed.

When Amy released the water mana thread, the seed still had that light blue sheen. So, she deemed that it was time to plant the seed.

Amy moved some of the dirt around the island to make an area on it where she could grow the seed. However, when she placed the seed into the ground and pushed her mana into it to grow, it did not work.

It puzzled her that the seed would not grow on the soil, but then it occurred to her. What if the seed needed to grow in the water because of the added water mana. So, Amy placed the seed right off of the island underwater, into the sand. With it placed, she started pushing her mana into the seed, and it started growing.

The seed sprouted and grew, breaking above the water and growing tall and wide. As the leaves on the branches started sprouting, the leaves had a light blue sheen that could be seen when the light hit the leaves a certain way. The tree grew to about five metres and had a canopy that had a length of about seven metres.

When Amy pulled up the description of the tree, she saw that, unlike the greater mantis shrimp, where it was an evolved version of the mantis shrimp, the tree was very different from the yellow birch tree.

Rainfall Tree

A type of tree that has been soaked with water mana. In response, the tree will only grow underwater, and the leaves have a special effect. The leaves will collect water from the air and store it within them. Once they all get full, all the tree's leaves will release the water simultaneously.

Amy was thrilled with the rainfall tree. It would allow her to create a different forest environment in the water.

Just as she was thinking of all the ways that the tree could be used, Amy could feel the mana her core passively collect from the adventurers and their deaths reach its limit.
