《The Floating Dungeon》Chapter 39

POV Duna Valsson
The past couple of days have been hectic. First, she was given a possible temporary placement as guild master where a new dungeon has been located. The weird part is that, according to reports, the dungeon core is located through a portal situated in an iceberg in the middle of the ocean. It's not unusual to have a dungeon pop up in the middle of nowhere or in an extreme environment. But it is very unique to have a dungeon that moves. That was part of the problem for preparing a floating village or at least a set of docks with an adventurer guild building that floats.
The logistics of preparing and pre-setting this whole environment was a headache in and of itself. Since this dungeon moves, everything has to be able to move with it or be able to be taken apart and reassembled. But, with carpenters, blacksmiths, and rune carvers, the pieces of the dock and the guild building were done.
Typically, a rune carver would not be a part of this project, let alone multiple rune carvers, with this short of time. But the dock and guild building needed to be able to shrink to be able to go through the transportation portal to the biggest city in the Ridgelech archipelago and onto two ships.
Duna observed as the smaller pieces, each around a metre in size, were loaded onto one of the ships, while the other was loaded with materials, money, and miscellaneous objects. As the dock and material finished being packed away onto the ships, people who were going with her to the floating dungeon started boarding.
Soon enough, everybody was packed up and ready to go, and they set sail.
As she stared into the distance, she hoped that she would not have to chase after the dungeon a lot. Though in her mind, she knew that that was unlikely.

POV Pyter Synder
The day after the group had returned from initially scouting the dungeon, two ships appeared on the horizon carrying the adventure guild's symbol on their flags. He assumed that these were the people sent to set up shop from the guild.
The ships came closer and closer until they stopped right beside the ship he was on. A woman with light brown skin and white markings on her face stood on the ship's deck and called out to them.
"Are you guys the Blue Spirit adventuring team that found the floating dungeon again?"
Merkelis, the leader of the group, called back out to her. "I assume you are the guild master that was sent to oversee the dungeon?"
"I have been sent here to set up, oversee, and run the adventurers guild that will be associated with this specific dungeon, as it does move. My name is Duna Valsson, but you can call me Valsson for now."
Valsson gave a quick look around and spotted the iceberg.
"So that is the dungeon we are now following? Why are you not anchored closer to the iceberg?"
"Well, Ma'am, the dungeon has a territory starting about a couple metres away from us. So we decided for safety and all, to not be anchored within that territory without knowing the temperament of the dungeon."
"And it's temperament?"
"So far, it's been good. But we haven't had enough interactions with the core to be sure. But it did seem to appreciate an offering for some leniency."
"Most dungeons do until you really piss them off. Now we will be setting up the docks and some building platforms. We would appreciate your help in this matter."
The blue spirit adventuring group agreed to help, along with the sailors on the ship to help. So they followed the two new ships. They followed them further away from the dungeon's territory and the amware reef. The ships finally stopped about 500 metres away from the dungeon territory, far enough that it would be safe to live and expand as more people come for this dungeon, but close enough to watch the iceberg to see if it starts moving again.

After the ships docked close to one enough, the people on the two new ships started moving these rectangular and square pieces of wood out of the storage hold of the ship. Then, carefully, each was lowered down into the water, where Valsson was waiting in a small boat with two other people.
Each time the wood and metal pieces reached the water, Valsson would murmur something that expanded and grew them into much larger pieces. Once the pieces were grown, the two other people in the boat with Walsson started chanting and putting the pieces together.
Soon enough, the platforms were grown and put together. The final product was one long and wide dock, with many smaller docks running perpendicular to the main length of the dock. Pyter assumed that it was set up like this to allow incoming ships to dock on the smaller docks and have platforms for buildings to be built or added to the dock. It looked as if Valsson wanted to mimic dungeon towns and set up a place for the industries that pop up around dungeons to work here.
Pyter was quite fascinated by what they were doing. He used to just be a scholarly person who had little to no real-life interaction with the culture and people who worked and lived around dungeons. So he watched intently, along with making some quick notes on what Valsson and the two mages were doing.
The two mages started chanting another spell as soon as the base docks were done, and the charmed anchors were locked into place on the ocean floor. It sounded familiar to Pyter, but he could not place where he heard it from. He stared at the mages and watched as a barrier went up a reasonable distance around the dock area, then he realized what it was. He saw something like this on a coastal island that he visited a while back. It's a barrier that prevents harsh weather from entering the barrier.
Valsson, while the mages were putting the weather barrier up, started setting up the adventurers guild. It was already built but shrunken down. In the middle of the large dock, there was a large platform, more significant than any other of the platforms, and that was where the adventurer guild building was going to go. Once the shrunken down building was in place, Valsson chanted again, and it grew to fit the square platform perfectly. As soon as it was up, Valsson and the guild building employees that came with her rushed to get the building set up.
To Pyter, it seemed like they knew that other guilds and adventuring groups would be coming soon. And it was all just fascinating to him, though not as fascinating as the dungeon itself.
