《The Floating Dungeon》Chapter 30

Unlike the first floor, where the majority of the environment was kelp forest-based, Amy wanted to have more coral reefs, with a couple of new features, of course. But, before she started that, she sent the hydrius salamanders back out to go explore more and collect new things for her.

The first thing that she decided to change was the depth levels of the sand and water. She had this idea in her mind to create a couple of shoals in the northwest and southwest sections of floor two. But, in turn, she also wanted to make the depth of the water, which without her interference would be 68 metres, deeper in the northeast and southeast sections of the dimension.

Since there were 18 metres of sand normally on the floor of the dimension, Amy figured that she could dig and move the sand from the eastern side of the dimension to the western side of the dimension where she wanted it to shallower. So with that, she started getting to work. Amy started scooping large chunks of sand and dragging it before dumping it in the three places she wanted to build the shoals.

After a bit of work, Amy was happy with the new water depth on the eastern side and the amount of sand she now had on the western side. She had an average depth of 80 metres and only 6 metres of sand left on the eastern side on average. With the depths changed, Amy turned her attention to shaping the shoals on the western side.

Like she did back on Earth when she built sand mountains, Amy started pushing and shaping the piles of sand upwards, creating three raised plateaus of sand with a maximum depth of 10 metres below the surface. She then used her mana to somewhat stabilize the sand into the position and shape that she moulded the sand into. As a result, one of the shoals was very thin and long, the other in an 's' shape, and the other in an uneven circular shape.

With the three shoals on the western side and the increase of water depth on the eastern done, Amy started on the kelp forests. They were going to be like the first floor with the exception of an ice base and a couple of differences of which creatures live there.

So, she pulled the icey kelp through from the first floor, past the barrier, and started planting and increasing their growth speed in three different places. Two of the kelp forests were placed in the northeast section, one in the southeast section, and one in the southwest section. With the forests speedily growing, it only took around 20 minutes before it reached the point where Amy was pleased with it. She stopped the forests' increased growth and instead pushed self-repair through the mana threads in case the kelp forests got damaged. These kelp forests were not as thick as the ones on the first floor, but it was the way that she wanted it to be, and she was happy with the results.

After finishing planting the kelp forests, Amy moved on to creating the coral reefs. Unlike the first floor, where there was only one large coral reef and a small crescent moon-shaped reef, she planned to create four reefs. The first reef would encircle the s-shaped shoal, the second would be parallel to the long, thin shoal, the third reef would be in the southeast section, and the last and largest reef would surround the island.

She pulled four pieces of cold water builder coral from the first floor through the barrier and then placed it into the four areas where she was creating the reefs. With that, Amy pulled another three pieces of giggle coral from the first floor and placed all four pieces of giggle coral on the spots where she will grow the reefs. The last coral she wanted to incorporate into the reefs was the heat brain coral that the hydrius salamanders had collected. She split the brain coral into a couple of pieces and placed those pieces onto the sites of the future reefs.

With a piece of all the corals she wanted to incorporate at the sites of the future reefs, Amy pulled 12 mana strings, placed them in the corals, and pushed accelerated growth through it.

She watched as the pieces of corals grew, split off, and grew some more. Then, as the coral species intertwined and grew and reached the size and growth that Amy wanted, she stopped the accelerated growth and added self-repair.

The first reef she stopped growing was the one growing parallel to the thin and long shoal. The second reef that she stopped growing was the one that surrounded the 's' shoal. These two were stopped first because it was in the shallower portion of the second floor, and Amy only wanted to grow them to a certain length.

The third reef that she stopped growing was the one in the southeast section, and this one she stopped a long while after the first two. It was in a deeper area, and she wanted the reef to be in a dome shape and not that close to the surface.

The last reef was massive. It essentially took up most of the northeast section and completely surrounded the small island. It grew up to five metres under the surface. But, on the side that was closest to the southeast section, she cut off the growth so that it stopped 10 metres under the surface.

The reason why she did this was that Amy had an idea that she had been thinking about for a while now. The idea is to create a floating mangrove island. She remembered that she had collected a mangrove seed a while back and decided to pull up the description again to see if it was what she remembered it as.

Mangrove Oak Seed

A seed of a natural cross-species of an oak and mangrove that live in cold water coastal regions. This plant can live in both water and land environments. Still, it lives a lot better if it is near a large body of water of either saltwater or freshwater. It also takes after its oak heritage and can grow very tall if given a chance.

With a smile, Amy started thinking about how she was going to make her idea work.
