《The Floating Dungeon》Chapter 21

It had been at least two or three weeks since Amy first encountered sentient beings, so it did not surprise her that other people were coming to find her. But she observed them as their ship came closer to her iceberg, as who knew what their intentions would be by coming here.
But Amy was ready for this, the penumbra, augment, and archer penguins were all set up and spread out across the sub-dimension, her core was adequately hidden, and there was little to no knowledge about her dungeon out there yet. So by her counts, she decided she was ready for what happened.
The ship that the new group of sentients were on was different from the first ship she encountered. This one was more fortified, and she could feel the magic swirling around the ship.
Amy watched as the ship locked onto her iceberg and anchored onto it. She watched as a group of twenty beings of visibly different races climbed off of the ship and onto the ice. Slowly and cautiously, the group started making their way across the iceberg.
After about 30 minutes, the group of 20 finally found the tunnel entrance that led to the portal of her dungeon. The group was a lot more cautious than the one with the quirky guy with the interesting objects in the first group was. The group slowly inched further and further into the tunnel, and soon, they reached the portal.
As soon as the group saw the portal, they froze.
One of the men with white furry bear ears, who Amy assumed was the group leader by the way he acted, started talking.
"If the information given was correct, then the dungeon should be beyond that portal. Don't forget, we will be plunging directly into the water as soon as we step through. There have not been any reports of what monster or creatures, so keep your senses peeled for anything. Anica, are the seals and mages ready?"

A beautiful white-haired lady responded. "Yes, seals and mages are ready for sealing."
With a nod, the bear guy turned to the rest of the group. "Alright, let's gear up and head out."
Amy watched as the group prepared and stepped through the portal, but what they said concerned her. For what did they mean by seals and sealing? Of course, it could be nothing, but her core was tingling, and her instincts started telling her to be careful. For now, she would be wary of the group and watch them very closely.
With the last person of the group appearing in her sub-dimension, Amy quickly pulled her attention to the group treading water. When the fuzzy bear eat leader confirmed that everybody in his group made it through the portal, he yanked on a small string.
Like back on Earth, where emergency lifeboats inflate when a string is pulled, the same thing occurred when the leader pulled the small string.
Quickly the boat inflated, and the group climbed on, took out some wooden boat paddles and slowly made their way into her dungeon.
Amy watched as two of her penguins, a penumbra and archer penguin, stalked the boat as it slowly moved closer to the centre of the dimension.
The archer penguin, who seemingly had enough of the stalking, swam back away and started charging the boat. She watched as the archer penguin gained speed and suddenly leapt out of the water, over the group and the boat, with its wings spread out as it spun, flinging its arrows in all directions.
The adventurers, who only just sensed the archer penguin, had little time to prepare and defend. Those who were not fast enough or had good instincts were hit with the razor-sharp feathers of the archer penguin monster.

One of the adventurers was killed on the spot with a feather to the throat. Five were severely wounded, and six had minor injuries. Only eight of the adventurers got off scot-free.
The quick movement and attack of the archer penguin startled the group enough, and they caused enough movement to tip over the boat.
Amy watched as the group scrambled to get back on the boat and tried to save their dying and injured comrades. But the group was not careful enough.
The pretty white-haired lady scrambled on the boat and screamed out to the group. "Get ahold of yourselves! We need to find the core and bind it to us! Then we'll be rich!"
Amy instantly zoomed onto the white-haired lady.
What did she say? They want to seal me? Thought Amy realized that this was not an average group of adventurers, that her bad feeling was right. These people want to seal her or do something to her that she knew would be very, very bad.
A sense of urgency and defensiveness rushed through the inhabitants of the dungeon. The dungeon core needed their help defending it.
With most adventurers still in the water or dying, the dungeon combatants of the area started converging where the adventurers were still in the water.
As the adventurers started to get control of themselves and get back onto the boat, one of the injured females of the group was suddenly attacked by an icy barracuda. Watched as the fish tore a chunk out of the female's flesh.
That attack was like a beacon to all the other creatures in the area to start attacking.
Soon the water was tainted red, and there was rapid movement in the water. She watched as the adventurers desperately tried to fight and get themselves out of the chaos in the water. Still, it was obvious to Amy as she watched that this group was not adept at fighting in a water environment.
One by one, Amy watched as the people in the group bled out, drowned, and died in front of her. It was a novel experience to her, but one she knew was going to happen.
Killing back on Earth was generally something that was taboo and not something that you should do. But with her transformation into a dungeon core, Amy knew that she would have to kill someday, and now that it happened, she did not feel like what she expected. She thought that she would feel guilty or something like that. But she did not. Realistically, Amy knew that killing this group would protect her and her future, but the emotions that she thought she would feel would do not appear. This could have been because of the new instincts that she had as a dungeon core, or she has just adapted to this world and her new situation.
Amy went back to watching the group after she contemplated her emotional state. Soon, the water stopped churning, and movement within the water stopped. Only five of the adventurers that made it onto the overturned boat survived.

God complex
A hero is summoned to another world, vanquishes evil, yadda yadda, saves the kingdom and lives happily ever after. There is no such hero in this story. Just a desperate youth with great ambition and very little to lose. A zero to hero style story set in a country clearly inspired by modern USA with just as many issues and the minority of mages often pulling strings from the shadows. I am also hoping the whole thing won't turn out edgy enough to cut me. I want to rely on actual good writing rather than cheap powertrip gimmicks. edit: Please don't mind Zetari's salty review. He is quite literally making up any use of the torture and human experimentation trope and says MC is blank after 4 chapters where he conveniently stops reading just at the start of his first character development. For extra entertainment, I will be uploading chapters two at a time and compose a relevant poem through the chapter names. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Magician's Pact
A young boy with a special key finds himself caught up with an old wizard, an ancient prohpecy, and a possibly conspercy. This sounds like the sort of thing most childern would love to be a part of, but there are just three small problems. The first is that he is not the hero. Someone already got that role. The second is that he isn't a wizard. He is a Magician which complicates things. The third is that there might be a chance that the whole 'problem' might be comming from his end. Personally he never understood (or interacted with) the 'secret' magical world, but that becomes a problem when the magical world apparently has what his role is supposed to be according to their ancient book... and they are not to happy about him not matching their book. Still it shouldn't be to hard right? All he has to do is go to a school, learn some wizard magic, make sure nobody takes his key... also avoid dying. Thankfully he has had a lot of expereince with that last part and a bunch of Twig Twirling childern can't be too dangerious? Right?

Hero
Kuren is just your average boy. He's just been asleep for one thousand years. Heroes and grand epics. Kuren doesn't have the time to think about things like that, nor does he really care. Join Kuren as he wanders the fantasy land of Alurca in search of his lost memories and the reasons behind his lengthy slumber. This is sort of a reboot of Anomaly, the first novel I tried to write. I gave up Anomaly after going to college. I thought about going back to it, but... when I look at it now, it's not very good. It was very edgy and not much substance behind that edge. The story wasn't quite going anywhere since I hadn't given the main character a goal. I had planned out a story, but I forgot to to plan out the details between the beginning and end. So this one's for real. Hopefully you won't be disappointed.
