Chapter 27, H.O.T.D 2

Meanwhile as Shin, Shuai, Jin, Takashi, and Rei's battle against Team Kenya's leader Badru a few miles away was taking place and nearing its climax, the other members of Team Kenya were finally making their own move. Within the camp a lone male soldier carrying a rifle was fast walking towards his destination. His actions weren't the least bit suspicious and other soldiers who recognized the man and stopped to talk to him found nothing strange with him, and let him pass to continue their duties. After passing them the lone soldier walked into a empty tent being used as a morgue.

Inside the tent were zipped up bodies in black sleeping bags The army couldn't recover all dead bodies who fell to the zombies as most were devoured or turned before they could be shot to death, but Supreme Commander Takahi had asked, not ordered his subordinates, to recover all the bodies they could long as it didn't interfere in the battle being raged on. He had hoped that once this battle was concluded the city of Tokonosu could properly deal with their departed fallen soldiers in a more proper manner.

???: "Although this left a wonderful opportunity for me to act. Ninja Art, Space Time Relocation!"

The lone male soldier drew a large circle with ancient Japanese characters along the border and then brought his hands together and completed a long complex pattern of hand seals to complete the Jutsu. The circle began to shine brightly filling up the space of the tent with white light. A few seconds later the light died down and out of thin air were three grown adults. Two males, one with black skin and the other white skin, and lastly one female of Japanese descent. They were members of Team Kenya and their plan to successfully infiltrate the enemy camp had succeed as planned.

Sakura: "Ahhhh, I really hate your transportation technique despite its value, Deka. It always makes you feel sick and disoriented unless you've reached the Fourth Stage or higher. Well, I guess such high requirements is what balances out such absurdly broken power like this."

???: "...I wouldn't know. This technique can't transport it's user after all. That requires an AA tier ability like the Flying Thunder God Technique."

Kahari: "That's no good, Sakura! Here, I brought with me some quick acting seasickness pills for just a occasion. Take some."

Sakura: "Ah, no, I'm good. I've almost recovered, so..."

Kahari: "Oh, then please do tell me if you require anything of me then. I'm always at you beck and call."

Sakura: "..."

Obasi: "Hahah! Once again you've been dumped, Kahari!"

Sakura was still a bit queasy from the Space Time Relocation skill, but she didn't want to deal with Kahari, so she lied. Kahari was average looking man of African heritage and wore glasses over his bad eyes, although they should have been fixed from enhancing his reaction speed stat. Kahari was by all appearance a normal young adult about to turn 20 and his words made others think that he was a decent guy worth giving a chance, but he had a hobby which his team members knew of, yet ignored for the sake of team stability, but ultimately made Sakura instinctively evade Khari’s advances as a man.

Kahari was a cannibal. Meaning, he regular ate human flesh and if he hade the choice he would slice off the meat of men and women while alive. It wasn't for the sake of stat enhancements or anything vital to his evolution growth or abilities. Just a hobby which repulsed woman like Sakura to no end.

Sakura: "No more fooling around everyone! I can't trust Badru to keep up his role of distraction. We haven't heard any notification of that monster killing any members of Team Japan, so he's probably fooling around. Let's not over stay our unwelcomed by staying here any longer than we need to. We'll kill the targets Souichiro Takagi and his wife Yuriko Takagi. Deka, have you placed the trackers on them?"

Sakura turned towards the soldier who was frowning. This person obviously didn't like Sakura ordering everyone around, including herself(?), but as she was the second most powerful after Badru she held back her tongue. The man(?) made a hand seal of the Rat and his face began to melt. His entire body now looked disfigured, but soon reshaped itself... into a female. A woman with black skin and long black hair in her early 20's who everyone present recognized as Deka.

Deka: "So sorry, but I couldn't get so close as to put the trackers on their person. Especially the male target, the supreme commander of this army and city leader, Souichiro Takagi. He is incredibly powerful and not some pencil pusher. At least at the same level as you Sakura, and is incredibly vigilant of his surroundings. I could only slip a few trackers on his less skillful personal guards when they were on break. We should be able to get a general idea of their position with just this much."

Obasi: "Oh, good work! Your ability True Mimicry Art is the real deal. Just by touching the body of someone you can copy their appearance, clothes and all, as well as gain insight of their personality. Far superior to Transformation Art. It's the best infiltrating technique, although I wouldn't get it. If you can't burn them alive with it what's the point of enhancing?"

Sakura: "I said enough fooling around! We're going! I'll take the lead and kill everyone we come across. The goal isn't to kill everyone, but just rampage, kill the target, and escape. Obasi, burn everything with your Fire Elemental. It'll create chaos and help us in our escape. Kahari, you are in charge of defense with Stone Manipulation. After the targets are killed we'll immediately escape. We aren't like Badru who can fight a organized modern army for long periods of time. Lekan waiting a distance from the camp will cover our escape with sci-fi weapons. Really, if we knew this was going to be a war genre we would have had him get rank reward consumable explosives, but there's nothing we can do about what's done. He has enough firepower and a defensive item to hold his own against an army of this size for a few minutes. Deka, you'll stay hidden in the shadows. If we fail to kill the targets, use the chaos we created to find a chance to assassinate them, and then hide yourself again. If we succeed, you're job will be to keep us informed of the army, and by extension Team Japan's movements."

Deka: "Hmn, you really love to act like our leader don't you?"

Sakura: "Someone fucking has to with a leader like Badru. If you want to be the leader, or perhaps just order me around, please do get stronger than me. I'll listen you at that time, but I doubt it'll happen. You may excel at espionage and that's not a bad enhancement path, but you are a coward and so you won't get anywhere if you keep using your points and rank rewards for those defensive items. You bought two B rank Azure Mirror last I checked. You even begged Badru to use one of his A rank rewards from the Blood+ Mission to get that dimensional technique hoping you modify it to allow you yourself to escape harm whenever you want."

Deka: "That's none of your business!"

Obasi: "Hey, keep it down Deka. Also, Sakura, can we really trust Lekan to cover our retreat? He's only been with us for two missions and... he's one of those guys. So with his family-"

Sakura: "If you Blood Crusade dogs can't trust the Players you send into this realm who have had their families kidnapped and held hostage for their cooperation, you shouldn't be doing uncertain and inefficient crap like that. As for Lekan, he wants to kill Badru since his family oversaw the kidnapping, as well as others of Blood Crusade and anyone else who is connected to God's Dimension, but he won't, or at least not yet. Like Lekan and all of us here know... it's impossible to kill Badru. Long as he uses his self created powers, "Rebellion" or the still in development "The Juggernaut", not even a direct hit with a nuke can kill him. He would at least need the expensive A tier National Gravity Mine to assure the kill and other high ranking tools to assure he can't escape. Badru would kill Lekan once he makes such a bold move and fails, so he won't make a stand against him or any of us just yet. Lekan isn't like you short sighted members of Blood Crusade and is capable of pushing down his hatred and do what he must for revenge. That is the talent of a first rate special ops soldier which Blood Crusade sought out in him. Now, enough of this idle talk! We're moving out!"

Aimed at the back of a unsuspecting soldier keeping a vigilant look out for anyone unauthorized approaching the tent of the Supreme Commander and his wife, along where the leaders of the military were discussing the still waging battle and future plans, a long transparent blue spear was thrown and stabbed through him effortlessly. It was a instant death and in a further brutal display the killed soldier's torso turned to ice and softly burst to pieces. Two nearby soldier saw the spear only after it had pierced through the soldier back and out his chest. They wanted to immediately scream, but before they could a young women with long orange hair swinging a short black spear slit their throats silencing them forever. Following that she retrieved her thrown spear from the first corpse. It should be known that these men weren't your average soldiers, but Enhancers, and a few talented Evolvers over Level 30 chosen to protect the supreme commander as his guard and were trained to never let their guard down, yet they were taken out in a instant.

Sakura didn't so much look at their bodies as she preceded forward and repeated the previous scene of carnage. It was only after cutting down over thirty high level Enhancers did word of an attack finally spread. It was thanks to a promising youth who was a natural born Agility based Evolver who managed to avoid the thrust of Sakura's long spear towards his throat and yelled loudly. The youth then stepped forward unsheathing a Dark Magic Blade he had recently received as a reward personally by the supreme commander, and with lightning speed swung it at Sakura's head. The distance between each other was too close for Sakura to make full advantage of her long spear. The youth expected for Sakura to attack with the short spear, but to his shock she dropped the long spear and grabbed the Dark Magic Sword with her bare hand, and to his amazement the blade was stopped in mid swing and upon closer look her hand had turned to solid ice.

Sakura: "Ice Age!"

Soldier: "Gyhaaa!!!"

Sakura's grip on the Dark Magic Sword increased and from the blade, to the youth's hands and arm ice traveled upwards. This wasn't a layer of ice, but freezing cold ice which froze the youth's flesh solid. When the ice reached his torso there was no longer any hope of saving him and a second later his entire body turned into a ice sculpture.

- *CONTINOUS GUNFIRE*!

Sakura jumped away as a shower of gunfire passed by where she just stood. If she was a second later in jumping away than like the human ice sculpture caught in the shower of bullets she too would be blasted full of holes. More gunfire from nearby soldiers responding to the deceased youth's earlier call followed after her from all sides. Sakura eyes grew cold and devoid of light entering the First Stage of Unlocked Mode and ran around the shower of bullets with agility surpassing most Evolvers.

Of course it wasn't completely possible to avoid all bullets being inside a camp filled with thousands of soldiers, yet Sakura simply twirled her two spears, achieving rotation speed rivaling helicopter blades to knock away the bullets. Her moments were that of a graceful ballerina on the battlefield who claimed many lives. Her spears never stopped moving and when ever a enemy soldier approached they would be stabbed instantly through the heart, head, or even run through by spears along with comrades in one thrust. Leaving behind a long trail of bodies these soldiers one by one were killed by Sakura's furious attacks as she made he way toward her target following a electronic tracker.

Sakura: "Obasi! It's too exhausting to block a rocket with ice if they decide to bring one out, so burn them all! Burn everything!"

From a hidden location Obasi heard Sakura's shout. He didn't need a second confirmation to finally be allowed to do what he loved and called forth a elemental. One different from Shuai's female Gnome which surfaces from the earth, a spark ignited in the air which bloomed into a small fire. Appearing from within the flames was a small boy with sharp eyes with the name Salamander. Lowest Grade Fire Elemental, Salamander. Pleased to see his partner in crime, Obasi and Salamander rushed out of their hiding spot and spotted Sakura surrounded by numerous soldiers firing at her with machine gun and Enhancer's wielding Kodachi Blades who would take chances to charge forward when they could.

Obasi honestly felt like Sakura was holding back for whatever reason and could kill everyone present if she so chose to. Sakura was second to their leader Badru, but second to a monster like him was equivalent to the super ace of any normal team. Still, he carried out his request to burn everything alive with pleasure. Salamander floated in front of Obasi and raised its small hands. In a instant dozens of basketball sized fireballs were conjured the were sent hurling towards those attacking Sakura, burning them all alive and reducing them to ashes in second with the high temperature flames. The sight of burning flesh, ash and deathly moaning of men with burned throats filled Obasi with untold amounts of pleasure and propelled him to spread this feeling of love beating in his chest by supplying his Fire Elemental with all the energy he had.

Salamander answered his masters warped call for destruction and ignited the surrounding area in flames and ordered the fire to spread wildly without rhyme or reason. Chaos was the goal and the entire camp was devastated and flooded with confusion and fear. When the youth had screamed an order from above was given to kill the assassins, but if they followed this command to the end and didn't stop to deal with the ever expanding fire within the camp, the entire second line of defense would soon collapse from within, allowing the zombie legion deeper into the city.

Connor: "..."

Connor sniping from a tall watch tower looked down at the camp which had become a battlefield with his Side Effect Active. His Side Effect allowed him to spot evil as clouds of varying colors and textures. It took him a while, but he had spotted among the camp four large clouds of evil among the thousands of soldiers within the base. Evil was subjective and everyone possessed some evil through the world of his eyes, especially those who have committed grave crimes for the sake of order and good like the soldiers of the army had to do to keep their society function as best they could in the apocalypse, but through scrutinizing eyes Connor saw four dark clouds which stood out as clear malicious intent and inside these clouds were four people.

One was engaging dozens of soldiers alone with two spears in her hands. She stood out the most, but Connor felt that she was most wary against enemy ambushes and snipers, and he had no confidence of successfully hitting her while her guard was up in one shot, so he moved on from her and simply informed Hikari through Soul Link of her. For whatever reason Hikari couldn't sense her brain waves either like Badru, so Connor informed her of the general locations as there were three other dark clouds to deal with. One was hiding within the earth. Another was staying close by but not too close to the female spear user and by his side was a being spreading fire throughout the camp which reminded him of Shuai's Gnome. And lastly was one that was very faint and hiding amongst a large group.

- *BANG*!

- *IMPACT*!

Connor chose his first target by rate of success and priority. It wasn't possible to guarantee a successful kill at the enemy hidden underground and anything less than a fatal kill shot could result in him escaping. The enemy hiding amongst a crowd looked vulnerable and with his skills he wouldn't miss and not get anyone else involved, but his sniper instincts told him it would be hard to kill her in one shot. Then excluding the female spear user, all that was left was the man with the spiritual being spreading carelessnessly wild fires across the camp which have already claimed hundreds of lives.

Connor took out his most powerful Ibis Trigger, charged it with energy and fired. As Obasi was in grossed in bringing to life a fiery hell on earth, an orange cannon ball smashed into his back, crashing forward and tumbling across the ground. The force of the Ibis Rifle enhanced by multiple powers was a frightening weapon which even Badru wouldn't want to tank hits from too many times, so to Connor's shock Obasi was alive and completely intact without injury. It was then that Connor now saw a golden glow engulfing Obasi from head to toe giving off a feeling of protection, yet in next moment the golden glow dim downed as if a light switch was flipped. Falling out of Obasi's clothes was a shattered object. The feeling of protection Connor felt from the glow vanished without a trace and the look of sinking fear on the man's face confirmed his suspicion.

Obasi: "Fuck! What BS is this! Their sniper depleted the energy of the Dharmacakra in one shot! That can tank a shot from even powerful sci-fi guns. Lekan! Support fire! You better save me or else your family will know a fate worse than beaten dogs!"

At the same time as Obasi took out a Communicator Phone and yelled to who was on the other end, Connor aimed the Ibis towards Obasi to finish him off. Obasi felt a pair of eyes lock on him and froze his movements. He had Salamander envelope his space with a blazing inferno which could melt even the bullets of machine guns and other heavily artillery for some time, but he had no confidence in stopping an attack which could deplete a C rank defensive item in one shot, but fate intervened to extend his pathetic life just a little longer. As Connor was about to squeeze the trigger of the Ibis his skin began to crawl at an approaching threat. A lone man hidden amongst the millions of zombies surrounding the city silently took out a rocket launcher the size of a full grown man with the width of a tree from a subspace ring.

With a frown clearly showing his discontent at the orders, no the person ordering him, he pressed the trigger. A large missile was fired and reached above the skies of the camp and detonated. The missile strangely didn't explode in a large blast, but instead showered the skies with over a thousand bombs that began to fall. Hikari through her scans couldn't sense the members of Team Kenya and had a hard time visually keeping track of them, but she could see those bombs and warned everyone. They would fall over the camp and detonate in ten seconds. Under the threat of the bombardment and with no time to waste Connor reluctantly turned his sights away from Obasi and entered First Stage of Unlocked.

While looking at the positions of each bomb Connor switched out the high powered Ibis Trigger for the rapid power Lightning Trigger and opened fire at the sky. Connor needed the highest performance from his rifle, so he activated Demonic Argumentation as well, pouring in as much Trion and Demonic Power into the Lightning Trigger as possible. The Trion Bullets in rapid succession hit hundreds of bombs with impressive accuracy and continued on to strike and detonate more. The skies above the camp bloomed in a brilliant and blinding radiance of countless explosions. A few bomb unfortunately still fell to the earth and killing a few dozen soldiers, but the worse case of thousands of lives taken in a instant along with 1/5 of the camp was avoided.

Connor SL: (Can't ignore the enemy hiding out amongst the zombies if he can attack like that again. You'll have to handle the rest.)

Connor saying so leaped off the watch tower and ran amongst the shadows with Silent Approach to change his sniper's nest. He had stood out to much in one place and needed a better location to see where the enemy could be hiding. This enemy hiding amongst the zombies who possessed such firepower had to be put down and Connor planned to kill the hidden enemy the next time he so much as raised his head to attack.

Meanwhile, the battle within the camp took a turn for the better for Team Japan and not so well for Team Kenya. Sakura accompanied by Obasi with a fearful look out for another ambush broke through the army's defenses and located their targets surrounded by two dozen elite soldier. Souichiro Takagi and Yuriko Takagi. Sakura leading the charge found that the man standing next to the women was not an intellectual leader only good for yelling out orders, but a fierce warrior as well as he pointed his sword at them.

It felt like they were in the presence of a experienced tiger with fangs and claws ready to tear into them. Obasi unknowingly took a few steps back in fear. He wasn't like Badru who enjoyed battles, but enjoyed the one sided slaughter of the weak by burning his victims alive from a distance where harm would not come to him.

As for Sakura she experienced Souichiro's killing intent, and as well as the threat of the soldiers surrounding him and his wife who gave off a immense pressure. Such immense pressure that it drenched her in cold sweat, but unlike Obasi she held her stance firm with the two spears in her hands. Sakura was not one to become excited and more powerful by adversity, but more resolved and focused when a goal must be accomplished. This was a superb quality of a warrior and leader that gained Badru's respect and what made Mass Enlightenment once decide to make her the next leader of Team Japan if not for Shin's interference. She had chosen to waltz into the enemy camp without their leader Badru, the only one amongst them with room to spare if he chosen to do the same, so she would never allow herself to cower in fear and run without accomplishing her goal. It would be a shame upon her noble bloodline which was unacceptable.

Sakura: "!!!"

Sakura prepared herself to charge forward with her spears readied to accept the challenge of killing her targets whoever may get in her way, yet just as she placed strength into her legs she ducked and rolled to the side as three thin jade needles flew right above her. They would have stabbed her in the back if she had failed to hear those projectiles faintly cutting through the air towards her. She might have missed them all together if the current level of danger hadn't pushed her senses to their peak. At the same time as Sakura ducked down a force struck Obasi watching from the side and sent him hurling into a jeep parked thirty meters away. Drake had arrived along with Sachi striking from the shadows and now engaging Sakura, and when he saw his chance he hit the other enemy combatant with the repulsion force of Hand of Polaris. Obasi didn't have Sakura's inhuman combat senses nor was he unlocked. And so it was only after he felt a holy force grab and push him away did he feel anything, and could still do nothing as he blown back and crashing into the jeep.

Surviving the crash into the jeep solely due to his above average stats, Obasi spat up a mouth full of blood on impact. The jeep was about to explode right next to him from the damage it received, but Salamander acting on its own snuffed out the flames consuming the Jeep. Obasi was fortunate to have exchanged an ability which could take independent action long as it was supplied with energy, but he was not out of danger yet. 50 meters above his head a DRAGOON was hovering directly above and fired down a beam. Obasi didn't even see the beam coming and had no way to defend against the unexpected beam attack, yet saving him in the nick of time was comrade hidden underground. Kahari was attempting to sneak up on their targets form below, but seeing the DRAGOON flying towards his comrade in advance he stopped what he was doing to save him. Not because of pure friendship, but because along with Lekan's support fire, Obasi's Fire Elemental was valuable to the team in both wide spread destruction and as cover for escape amongst its intense blazing flames.

Kahari: (Stone Hand!)

In the split second before the beam struck Obasi a giant hand made not of earth, but cold hard stone giving off a strange glow rose up from the ground and protected him with the back of its hand. Hikari watching through her scans was surprised by the lightning fast assist, but she didn't back down. The beam had blown a hole in the stone hand half a foot deep showing that the attack was somewhat effective and continued to fire rapidly at the stone hand to slay Obasi. The stone hand as if to scuff at such attacks began to regenerate from the damage, but Hikari just had her third DRAGOON (The second supporting Shin's group and was just destroyed) to increase the rate of fire and damage.

The stone hand protecting Obasi was glowing showing that it was special, but it was beginning to fall apart under the onslaught of the two remote control sci-fi weapons. Just as the stone hand was about to collapse with Obasi hiding under it a transparent blue spear was thrown at one of the DRAGOONs, destroying it in one shot, allowing the stone hand to recover.

Sakura had thrown the spear in the middle of a life and death struggle with Team Japan's assassin Sachi supported by the Souichiro's elite soldiers. The assassin Sachi was in Unlocked Mode and lashing out at Sakura with fast thrust of her dagger and throwing a mix of Adamantium and Infusion Needles at her within her blind spots. These attacks were all aimed at he vitals which pushed her to the edge, and whenever Sachi would back away the elite soldiers would strike. She had just now thrown one of her weapons to save Obasi and she had a magic tool to recall thrown weapons, but the momentary opening was not ignored by the eyes of an assassin of Sachi's caliber. In the blink of an eye and unnoticed by Sakura she closed in and stabbed her dagger at her chest. Sachi was confident that even if she missed which she wouldn't, Hell Fire Fang's soul burning blue flames would critically wound Sakura, yet to her surprise Sakura caught the blade of the dagger.

Sakura for the first time entered the Second Stage of Unlocked Mode and with power, speed and increased reaction speed caught the blade, utterly stopping Sachi's stabbing momentum. The blue flames of the held dagger attacked Sakura's soul and she cursed loudly, but in the next second and not losing focus she froze Hell Fire Fang and two thirds of Sachi's arm holding the dagger.

The ice continued to climb up her arm and about to reach her shoulder, but without hesitation Sachi chopped at the still flesh and blood part of the arm with thin yet sharp fingers of an assassin of the Assassin Clan, cutting off the frozen arm before it claimed the rest of her body. She then jumped backwards to escape a thrust of the black spear in Sakura's other hand. Sachi continued to retreat into the shadows and threw another wave of needles towards Sakura. With a twirl of her black spear Sakura deflected those needles. She then recalled her transparent blue spear with a magic tool with a shocked look on her face recalling how her opponent didn't hesitate to discard her arm to save her life. Sakura was so shocked she made the mistake of allowing her eyes to wander in battle which unexpectedly saved her life as she threw herself backwards.

Sakura: "Kahari incoming!"

Descending from above and sweeping through where Sakura just stood was a rain of gunfire from the EMP Rifle. Tens of meters high Aqua stood on top of the final DRAGOON as a foothold in the air and swept the area with the EMP Rifle cradled in her hands. Her first target was Sakura who was revealed to have unlocked the Second Stage who was the most troublesome opponent, but that decision turned into a mistake as Sakura saw through the surprise attack on her life, and then predicted and warned her comrade in a instant about Aqua's next target. The needle thin bullets shot from the EMP Rifle easily penetrated deep into the earth and just as they were about to reach where he was hiding underground Kahari emerged from the ground and leaped away to avoid the passing bullets.

Kahari cursed seeing as he was forced into the open and completely surround, but he had no choice since he couldn't swiftly move underground. Then Aqua cursed as well as she missed the chance to kill both Sakura and Kahari. She was now about to turn the EMP Rifle back at them when she caught some odd movement in her eyes. A man with a calm and determined look on his face with a army knife in his hands who was walking closer and closer to supreme commander and his wife by his side.

Aqua: "Behind-!"

But interrupting her warning was the black short spear of Sakura thrown towards her face. Aqua was not careless and had joined the battle having already entering the First Stage, so she easily slipped her head to the side to avoid the black spear, but something was caught in her eyes. Mysteriously grabbing her full attention was a yellow jewel reminiscent of a eye near the blade tip of the spear. This eye forcefully drew in her consciousness away and made her body grow lax and slip off the DRAGOON falling head first. Drake who was stationed nearby rushed forward to catch her. This event stole everyone's attention away and helped provide a much easier time for the approaching assassin walking towards her targets.

Once he/she/Deka was no less than five feet away from her targets she raised the military knife to chest level and stabbed forward. Deka would kill the obviously more troublesome foe Souichiro the supreme commander of the army. If she had the time she would also kill his wife, but if not she would escape and leave her to Sakura.

Brionac Spear (Soulless) -

A ice element spear said to have sealed an ancient powerful ice dragon. Things pierced by the spear will freeze and burst. Requires 4000 points and B rank reward.

Lechuza Spear (Soulless) -

A spear with a illusionary ability to draw in those who gase upon the eye jewel under the blade tip. Unable to take effect, or take effect for long when used on individuals with high willpower and Mental Capacity. Requires 3000 points and two C rank rewards.
