《My Blind Familiar》Volume 3 Chapter 1

War is far from something anyone wanted to happen. It destroyed land, killed loved ones and laid waste to important things related to one's world.
At this time, in a place where once was an incredibly bright place, a city with large white walls, beautiful white marble buildings all filled with magic and wonder causing an incredibly holy power to flow through the city, laid in waste, ruined from the inside.
From demons to angels all the way to monsters and dragons filled the warzone. Demons of all kinds battled against the others while different demons aided the other races. In the city, countless powerful demi-god and demon lord powers flew.
The world actually had a surprising number of Demon Lords. Most of these were hidden or under a specific power though. In particular the Dark Holy Order protected demon owners.
It wasn’t all demon lords though. Celestial beings, Spirits, monsters and many other types were all here and they were forcefully sealing the space crack.
They had previously used it as a place to gain hell’s resources but with the danger, at least sealing one side was required. If all the demon lords of hell attacked together then it was impossible for them to hold them back with extreme ease.
What was worse was how the smaller demons had invaded through the open portal and constantly tried to distract them as they tried to close the crack.
“These vermin are irritating!” The Pope of the Holy Church roared. Behind him was a blind folded Celestial Angel that wielded a sword and from its wings, yellow chains spun out and were wrapping the space crack.
“Give up, old fool! Demon’s take thousands of years to become Demon Lords, they focus solely on generating a powerful enough army to back their progress. It’s not something the humans, who have yet to reach level 91 before they die, can compare against. The sheer size of a Demon Lord’s army is beyond your comprehension!” Lucifer roared in his demonic form.
“Be silent demonic spawn!” the Holy church pope shouted at him.
“This is not the time to argue!” another man said. Behind him was a Dark Angel with six wings and a black staff. This was the Dark Holy Order Pope.
Beside him was the Light Church pope, in front of him was a beautiful angel with blue eyes and white pupils and the ribbons were being used to channel sealing magic. “We can deal with grudges once this is complete gentlemen, let us first deal with the bigger threat.” He said. He changed his hand sign and suddenly countless arrows of light shot out striking the space crack.
BOOM!
“Seems the others have died.” Valmor said solemn.
“It was a matter of time really.” The Earth God Pope said.
“Focus!” Lucifer roared!
BOOM! BOOM!
Suddenly an immense power came from the other side causing the space crack to widen.
“Damn it! Those bastards are attacking together along with their Demon Kings!” Lucifer growled.
Even with over two hundred years that he was Valmor’s familiars, of his minions, only one had reached the Demon King height.
He felt it was a shameful thing but he couldn’t find demons with high enough potential appearing among the hundreds of thousands of spawns he formed.
The other Demon Lords weren’t much better, Valmor is considered a 2th generation demon owner. By this, it means that it was almost two generations after the appearance of the familiar seal before he was born and summoned Lucifer. Also his father had been one of the first demon owners and had been hunted along with him during the first years. Which is why Valmor holds resentment towards the Holy Church.

Still, in a situation like this he couldn’t easily push back the advance of the Demon Lords who possessed better and larger numbers.
BOOM!
Another smash exploded and suddenly, two huge hands appeared in the crack. They were thin and were like bug arms yet it was incredibly powerful.
“This is not good.” The Dominion of the Harvest Church said solemnly.
Crack! Crack! BANG!
Suddenly the space crack was completely and thoroughly ripped open and from it, a massive demonic insect appeared, having a blend of human and insect mixed in.
All the Quinn world elites were blasted away, smashing into the minions and followers below.
A huge number of nobles that could not help seal the crack were below and caught the falling elites but as they looked up they saw the demons appear one by one.
The first three caused Lucifer to growl, “So that was it, Beelzebub is leading the Seven Sin’s and Demon lords to attack.” He said in a low grunt as he reverted to his small size and appeared beside Valmor.
“Beelzebub? Who is he?” Valmor asked.
“The Demon of Gluttony, Beelzebub. One of the Seven Deadly Sins.” He said solemn, “We had better retreat.” He said.
“YOU VILE DEMONS!” The Holy Church pope roared.
“You old fool, we should retreat and build our forces!” Valmor shouted.
“SILENCE! You are nothing more then one more corrupt at the command of a demon! When I finish with them, I shall purge you and that vile academy of all demons!” He roared.
Valmor turned to the others, “We are retreating.” Valmor said looking at the nobles. “Lucifer, have your minions aid the nobles under our protection back to the portal, we will return to the Snake Nest.” He said.
“You will abandon the battle!” The Holy Church Pope shouted.
“We are also leaving!” The Dark Holy Order said.
Slowly the others began to retreat.
“You pests think you can escape?!” A voice said.
They turned to the giant insect devil. “I have not permitted such a thing.” He said and suddenly his aura flared.
Everyone paled, “This bastard.” Lucifer growled, “He reached level 98.” he said.
Everyone nearby paled.
“We are leaving.” Valmor said. He stretched his hand and suddenly all the nobles that came with him suddenly felt a powerful pull and they were suddenly pulled near him before he struck the ground.
Space around all of them bent and they all suddenly vanished, the level 98 Demon Lord could not stop the man causing Beelzebub to be shocked.
It turned to the many portals and in one of them, he saw the group appear and Valmor pushed them all before walking through only before he left, he released a powerful spell that caused the collapse of this exit and those who travelled through felt the turbulence but Valmor stabilized the passage until they suddenly all fell into the Snake Nest.
What followed was all the others doing the same thing revealing the intense advantage that Quinn world residents have over the Demons, their Elite’s were better than the demons while the demons had greater armies.
The demon, even at level 98, were caught by surprise when he found that he could not inhibit them from leaving and before the last one left, who happened to be the Holy Church Pope, he stopped and looked at them, “You had better watch out, we have only started this war you scum!” He said. He smashed his hand down and suddenly countless lights began to shine, connecting the ruins to all the portals and as he entered his portal, he struck at the portal that collapsed as well.

The demons did not take his words to heart but as more demon lords came out into the world, bringing their armies, they saw the growing lights and suddenly, the lights flashed from the portals to the central portal and suddenly all the space around the city was completely locked down.
“What!?” Beelzebub said.
At that moment, the Space crack, that had been stable until now, began to grow crazy. It began to spin and began to form a powerful space storm. The energy that came from the collapsed portals also began to churn and spread.
The Demon Lord’s coming through suddenly roared and fought to keep their bodies from breaking apart but the power kept rising.
“Those insolent mortals!” Beelzebub hissed in rage.
Besides him, Asmodeus and Satan also felt anger at this. A clear indication of their inferiority was shown, they did not understand anything about the human’s magical knowledge. Beelzebub flashed and smashed the lines that were coming to the central portal but the line reformed after being broken almost instantly.
Soon the storms combined and then grew in even more intensity. The roars of agony from the Demon King’s of the three Demons of the Seven Sin’s caused their heart to plummet as they pressed their hands out and opened a special containment space unique to each race allowing the kings to hide inside while they also resisted the storm.
Beelzebub and Satan, both, were filled with rage, they turned to the largest portal and used extremely tyrannical magic and blasted the portal.
The collapse of the main portal caused the locked space to open but it drastically intensified the space storm sealing the movements of even the Demon Lords and began to injure them intensely.
The weaker Demon Lords were ripped apart and soon the three strongest escaped and collapsed, their bodies heavily injured from the collapse of space.
The Holy City that stood for more than two centuries was ripped apart in the storm and as it slowly calmed down, the intense energy of space stabilized and the crack completely sealed, cutting the connection but the space energy was still there but the weak link to Hell was cut.
“Those mortals! I will make them pay!” Beelzebub said and sensed the land and felt the intense power of the other demons. The three picked up their sorry figures and flew to meet up at the other space crack.

News of the demon invasion was impossible to hold back, with the alarm going out through all the portals there were countless nobles, who pooled their resources to form their own training grounds, that saw the signal. What was most disastrous was how high the casualty rate was.
Although the battle lasted no more than an hour while the elites were trying to shut the portal to hell, the demon armies were already in the Holy City.
What war between the demon army and the human army nearly killed half of the lower ranked nobles. A large number of these nobles were of Viscount rank, which were all no lower than level 60. Above them, the level 70 Earl’s couldn’t avoid damage while Marquese had few fatalities as they were level 80 and were considered some of the elites.
No King or queen were killed but there were several cases of severe injury. The Elven queen, and to the shock and fear of the Lurian empire, Morgan was also injured severely.
Although the Lurian empire wasn’t large like the Radiance Empire or the Evergreen Forest of the elves, it wasn’t a pushover either. Morgan himself was an elite being level 88 himself and his familiar, an elemental known as the Earth King. It was a level 87 Golem raised to the point of becoming a king ranked spirit among them.
His injuries were far from easy to deal with, he had been attacked from behind by a hidden Demon King and his right arm had been cleanly cut, but his familiar was able to save it though, and his right thigh bone had been broken. He was saved by several bishop of the Light and Dark fire church and taken back to the Snake Nest early where Priests of the Light church were spending an inexhaustible amount of effort to repair his leg and reattach his arm.
This still caused the Lorian empire to face a crisis where their monarch was injured. The Lorian empire was located in the southern mountain regions of the known continent. It was relatively far from both the frontier in the east where Niska had been and from the Holy City which was further north.
This made the empire a relatively safe one from the demon invasion initial attacks since it would require an extensive amount of time to reach it.
The only Virtue is that demons didn’t know how to use the Quinn world’s portals nor was it easy to find someone of the lower rankings that could. Even if they forcefully tried to open the portal, only something like what happened in hell would happen. It would work only for dungeon portals. Common transport portals that could connect to hundreds of locations was something impossible for them to forcefully use.
The dangers that everyone worried about now, in the Lorian empire, was from within, an injured king in a world where strength mattered, was a serious problem. A single seed of ambition could throw a nation into turmoil in these times.
As for the news of the demon lords, information about the strongest being level 98 caused immense chaos to spread.
As for the previously unknown fact about the Seven Deadly Sins this was also released. Lucifer and Valmor themselves stepped up to release this information and in fact, Lucifer, a resident of hell even back then, had said that they shouldn’t worry so much about that. Previously, the first invasion was conducted by the previous Leader of the Seven Deadly Sins who had been level 99 and was about to ascend as a Demon God yet he died at the hands of the Hero force formed by the coalition of races.
With how the world is now where familiars aided humans in becoming something like a hero themselves, there was little need for such a thing and instead, they simply needed to train their base and power structure to match the demons. In particular, they should try and focus on building a firmer, more powerful army to combat the demons.
Of course, this was heavily resisted by several factions, the Holy Church in particular.
The pope had a different ideology. He believed that to win the war required each Church and power to focus their all on developing new heroes and elites to kill the heads which would destabilize the power structure of the demons.
It turned into a heavy discussion leaving two factions and, unfortunately, most of the people were on the side to form a new Heroes Coalition being at least two heroes from each nation and power raised specifically for this purpose.
As for the ones on the side of, raising an army to battle an army, it was mostly the Dark Holy Church and the demon owners as well as several smaller nations. The representative of the Lorian empire, Hilda’s eldest brother, was part of the heroes forming Coalition. Although he was a representative, he could not speak on behalf of his father with 100% certainty nor could he promise anything in place of his father, after all, Morgan was once a student of Everlight and has deep respect for his teachers.
The ones that were of the army development faction simply sighed when the talk reached like this and so Valmor stood, “Since you have reached this decision, I shall allow you all to proceed, as this matter does not pertain to my thoughts nor would it do me any good to think of such things, I will excuse myself as I now need to aid Lucifer in developing his army to the strength it should be.” He said.
He turned and left, soon the others who didn’t agree left while the Holy Church pope sneered and sent venomous words at them and tried to turn the crowd against them by spouting lies until he was shut up by the other church who wished to discuss the true topic of the meeting.

Returning to the Snake Nest, Valmor had a solemn look, “We will need to decide how to work from now on, the current method of training is inefficient and development is low.” He said as soon as he neared the headmaster.
“What do you propose sir?” the headmaster asked.
“Blaze, my old friend, this time I really need your help.” Valmor sighed.
The headmaster frowned, it had been a long time since his master and teacher had called him by name, “What does master require?” He asked, serious.
“Those old fools are planning to form a new Heroes Coalition like the first war using the children with familiars so that they can fight the demon lords, this is completely barbaric, those old fools using children as weapons. I have no part in this.” He said.
“So what does master want to do?” He asked.
“We need to instruct our students in the development of minions. I myself had not developed my own well enough and it ended in my minions being weaker than the demon army, I have even lost half of my forces, though they are all regenerating at this moment but it will take years for them to regrow back to full strength. I will need to spend even more time on the elites to form five Demon kings for Lucifer. We need to properly teach students how to make the power structure and develop armies. This does not mean that they should stop developing themselves but they should use minions to help them develop their techniques because minions are a part of the familiar and can aid in developing spells and magic as well as fill vital roles the master cannot.” He said.
“I understand, but there is a problem which is that not everyone can form minions.” Blaze said.
“Everyone can form minions. It’s a matter of when their familiar develops the ability. One example is that boy that once bullied Xero, he formed nests of soldier ants but lacked workers, if he continues growing, the ant will become a breeder. Improving the nest spell would help him breed all the types of ants and would be developing stronger minions. The development of minions has always been something humans lacked motives to make. Now I want you to instruct the children in how this functions. You yourself should start improving the strength of your weak fire birds that you have long since ignored.” Valmor said and turned, “I shall be in the Everlight dungeon to develop my army and have the others do the same. You and Gloria are in charge of managing the portal and keeping the Imoogi away from the children. If it comes to it, escape to the training grounds.” He said and walked through the portal.
The headmaster sighed and turned to go find the teachers and pass on the news and instructions of how they should work from then on.

Kreig Goes Apesh*t (An AU of Returning to No Applause)
An AU of my previous story, Returning to No Applause, that asks the simple question of "What if it all went wrong?" When Kreig first appears on Earth again, after being stranded in another world for 130 years, he finds himself faced with weapons and guns. In a fit of instinct, he accidentally murders one of the many Fighters, causing what can only be described as a massacre to take place. The story that follows this simple premise is completely opposed to the one told before, focusing less on character improvement and more so degradation. It should come as no surprise that I personally recommend reading the OG story before checking this one out, and if you've already done so, great! Swell havin' ya! Any such readers might remember that I mentioned writing a story like this a while back, and... Here we are. This is in no way a continuation or sequel, nor will it be very long. Expect around 15 chapters at most depending on various factors. All and all, the 5-page length will remain the same (apart from chap. 1) and so will the release time, Sundays at 20:30 EST (I think?). All that aside, I sure hope you'll enjoy this! It'll obviously be very different from the OG story, but I personally think that's a good thing. Cheerio!

"Your name?"When I stayed silent, he repeated himself. "Your name?""Jeyri." I let out quietly."And last name?""Rae...""Jeyri Rae..." He crouched down next to me and moved the hair from in front of my face, "I dislike when things get difficult, I end up doing things I'd much rather not do. Do you want to know what happened to the last person who made things difficult for me, hmm?" He asked, leaning into me. Is he talking about me calling the cops? He pressed his gun against my head and frowned, "You get it don't you?"I nodded quickly. "Good... And if you tell anyone what you saw today, I'll know."
