《My Blind Familiar》Volume 2 chapter 15

Univa was in awe as she witnessed an amazing scene. The area in front of her, within a short two minute, had turned into a warzone. Countless thorn projections were all around, trees were broken, others split into many pieces, the ground had countless sword scars. In this short time, more than three fourths of the Sword minions had been smashed or hit away.

The damage to the armor body eventually cause both merged spirits to retreat to their sword form which, amazingly, showed chipped or bent blades. They fell or stuck in the ground damaged.

That said, even if there was a large number of casualty on the Sword Devil’s side, the Wyrm learned that even though not a single one of these cursed creatures were beyond level 30 their strength was clearly at the highest peak of level 40 and what is more they possessed and even more annoying aura ability that was so sharp that it could penetrate it’s scales. The sharpness and penetrating power of the Sword Devil’s aura caused the Wyrm to almost curse the heavens for putting these devils in his path. Especially when they kept it from running at the immediate moment because, as soon as it took to the air, countless strange swords appeared that they mounted and swarmed around it like vultures who pecked at its body.

“ANNOYING LITTLE FLIES!” The Wyrm roared in rage while more thorns grew out.

Xero’s eye turn sharp as the metal sword in his hand was shining. “Edge, protect Univa, completely block the thorns if possible.” Xero said.

He was not using Edge to fly, instead he used a common Sword Devil Divine Greatsword.

Edge appears and quickly flew down before stabbing the ground and growing big enough to cover the drake and the girl.

“DIE!” The Wyrm roared and spun it’s body releasing a huge number of thorns that rained down everywhere.

Ashley clicked her tongue, “So ANNOYING!” She roared as her sword burst into flames with red fire before she did a spin and strike out burning and cutting through the wave of thorns and hit the side of the Wyrm with the burning slash cut in the left side of the Wyrm’s body charring it’s scales and burning the flesh.

He roared in pain but the thorns that did not go towards Ashley still went towards the others. Towards Xero his pupils shrank as he drew his sword and swung three times before sheathing and then drawing it once more causing all his mana blades to cut into the wave of thorns while any small ones that came at him would be stop by his aura.

When Xero looked he was actually shocked to find that the Wyrm had turned tail and had already flown away.

“We scared him away.” Xero said and released a sigh of relief,

BANG!

Just as Xero removed his eyes from the Wyrm a huge explosion came and when he looked, he saw the aftereffect from a huge bolt of thunder ripping a hole through it’s head and the 50 meter long Wyrm remained in the air for only a few moments it collapsed causing countless trees under it to collapse under it’s body weight

“I applaud your performance child.” A voice said and Xero, Ashley and the minions turned with their sword at the ready but what they saw made their hearts sink. At nearly 200 meters long from the nose to the tip of the tail, a massive red dragon flew in the air.

Xero was trembling until he saw an elder on the head of the dragon, finally calming down a bit. He released the linking but because he had been switching without having his mana taken, he had learned the trick and was able to completely expel the spirit without hurting himself now.

Still he was quite exhausted from the fight, even if it was short, it was highly consuming and it was thanks to all the minions he had that he was able to fight for so long since it was a combined effort.

“Child, I thank you for saving our young Miss.” the elder said while the dragon glowed and was absorbed into the familiar seal.

“You watched in the sidelines for too long. Why didn’t you help!?” Ashley complained.

The elder chuckled, “You were handling it, I wished to see the capabilities of one of the few people that was even stronger than our young miss in her year.” He said.

Ashley snorted and ordered the minions to gather the injured ones to her quickly. They all unlinked and began to gather them for her.

They all landed near Ashley were they found Edge with almost thirty large thorns penetrating him. “Edge are you okay?!” Xero asked as he ran over and pulled the thorns out.

“Yes master, I have just been damaged on the blade, not my core. It will take just a few days of rest for it to heal.” He said allowing Xero to pull out the thorns and soon he shrank but the cracks and holes were still there making Xero frown and let him be absorbed into his body so he can go rest.

The elder walked over to Univa and took a wand out and two small balls of mana shot out into the drake and her making them glow for a moment before their body completely cleared of the poison.

The old man pulled out the thorn spike from Tryus allowing him to safely get up and bowing to the old man. “Child, once more I thank you, as well as you young man.” He said louder.

From the bushes Void soon walked out scratching his head.

“Brother?” Xero said surprised, “I didn’t see you before.” Xero said.

“Yeah, Ember stopped a Winged Viper from eating her but I didn’t see her when I passed by so I didn’t know there was something even stronger after her.” He said scratching his head and bowing to the elder.

“I must thank you both for your aid, we should warn the academy staff that there are still intelligent level 41 and above creatures around stalking the students. Anyway, on behalf of the Crost family, I thank you two.” He said and looked at the Wyrm while scratching his chin, “We can’t very well let either of you off without a reward so the two monsters killed, you both can keep, you both earned them. Oh, though I would like to purchase the Wyrm heart for the young miss, her familiar is at the critical junction to break through the level 30 and it would aid her a lot.” He said.

“From last year I still have rewards of a demon dragon heart, I do not need more, I can gift it.” Xero said.

The older nodded and flew over and soon dragged both the corpses back, the winged viper was a bit mangled and had bleed out. The Wyrm on the other hand had it’s back open and the heart ripped out. The heart was instantly fed to the drake so that it could start digesting.

“Young miss, from now on circle the mana that is within your familiar through your body until the heart is completely digested. Only that way, when there is a harmony between you and your familiar will both of you instantly break through to level 31.” The elder said and took the girl on his dragon. “We shall leave first.” he said. Xero nodded and saw them off.

“He sure is sneaky. He left us with such a massive corpse.” Ashley snorted before turning and shouting to her minions who all began to butcher the corpses skillfully and extracting each meat section without damaging it.

Soon all organs and meat was extracted leaving behind only bone. As for those Ashley grinned as she looked at Xero expectantly. A 50 meter long Wyrm was a powerful thing but it was pretty much a long snake. A long snake like an anaconda have between 300 and 400 pairs of ribs along their body and with this an equal number of vertebra. As for this 50 meter long Wyrm, just the spine had almost 800 so the number of ribs was obvious.

“You can use the bones to make minions, also Ashley, won’t it take long?” Xero asked.

“Nope, unlike the dragon bones Grunt had, this is a low class dragon, it’s bones aren’t that strong but it still has the dragon’s aura so at most it will take around a month for the spirit sword to ‘be born’.” She said as she spread her hand and hundreds of Sword spirits shot out of her hands and each one entered one of the bones on the skeleton.

Ashley then stored the now ready meat and then began to store the bones and almost overfilled three bags with it’s bones. As for the Winged Viper, it was a plant creature, it had no bones and its body was made of plant fibers but no bones. It wasn’t even a true dragon. Ashley offhandedly said that it made good firewood at least but still stored it so that she could feed the wood spirit swords making them evolve and form a weak dragon aura.

Void was able to secure some meat but not the corpse of the Winged Viper because Ember, frankly, didn’t like the snake, she rejected it. It made him think that she only liked beasts and not reptiles.

While Ashley was working Void was just watching and sighed, “You're really strong already.” He said.

“Well brother can probably learn the same trick I did.” Xero said.

Void looked confused, “What trick?” he asked.

Xero explained what he learned from Valmor. “That seems complex, and I don’t have any of that medicine to heal my soul.” he said.

“I didn’t use all of mine, even if I did force it a lot when I was learning but brother’s forging already helps temper our souls so it doesn’t take as much, if you want to try…” Xero said.

Void thought a bit and told Ember to summon a simple Feral Demon. Similar to Xero, Void had a small link with the demons. With the connection he strengthened the link to the Feral soul in the demon. He pulled it and soon felt the grinding pain and pushed on until he couldn’t.

Xero told him the first few tries will be exhausting but since he got lots of tempering he should get it in a few tries.

Void huffed and tried three times before Xero fed him the first of seven potions still remaining.

Void felt his soul heal and that soul energy cloud form and guard it. The next time he tried, veins appeared on his head but similar to Xero he was able to stabilize the combination and suddenly the body of the Bear Feral demon roared as it shined and broke into many pieces and flew around Void. A large bear shaped helmet formed, fur covered armor that fit perfectly, large paw shaped gauntlets and soon the legs.

The bear like strength infused his body and he let out a roar as he felt the strength. “Wow.” He said before turning, with some minor control of his aura he knew the aura reinforced muscles and claws but when he turned and swung his clawed hand a blade slash formed on the air and cut through the tree behind him leaving five huge gash that caused the tree to collapse while the mana beam traveled 100 meters away to through two trees and stopped there.

“This is amazing.” he said gulping but the stress on his soul grew and the link was undone and his mana stolen.

“You should train to use it for now, until you learn the trick the linked creature will steal your mana.” Xero said pulling out a mana stone to help his brother recover.

The bear was behind them but returned to the cave at Ember’s command.

“I-I’ll try and grow stronger.” He said and got up just as Ashley came back happy.

“I’m ready master, let's go back so that we can set up to make the Nature Dragon Bone Spirit Sword. Master you should know that these swords are plant and nature based if master installs a few of them with master’s wood control magic they would be more useful than the common wood ones.” She said.

“Let’s go back first and then decide.” Xero said and they recalled all the sword minions and went back to Everlight city were Ashley took all the damaged minions so that she could repair them.

***

Univa sat within a small magic formation that made the dense mana in the air gather and concentrate, while Tryus was sleeping 40 meters away in a separate formation for the same reason but also that formed a protective barrier that would contain all shockwaves or disruptions that may arise.

Her brother was watching, within her body, the raging mana that was being digested by the dragon was slowly mixing in her body as she sucked in more from the surrounding. This was the biggest benefit of a dungeon, there is a near unlimited amount of mana that could supply the familiar and master during critical stages. This is why dungeons always had so many powerful monsters like she had just seen.

Being hopeless like that had made her even more desire power. She had been lucky the wyrm didn’t have a complete dragon’s aura, it had only a basic aura that infused into it’s scales to make them as strong as a dragon’s which ultimately caused its downfall since Sword Devil’s aura could literally cut apart defensive auras and why the Wyrm didn’t have power rivalling level 50s.

As she sucked more and more mana, suddenly on her head a small dot began to shine and grow forming a tattoo of a dragon’s head. Slowly these tattoo flowed down like a tribal mask.

At that time Tryus opened its eyes which sent a weak shock wave out and it stood and roared.

“It has begun.” her brother muttered, sitting down a bit away was the elder that had saved her and was overlooking the evolution.

“Her Dragon mark is impressive.” He muttered.

The Dragon mark is the tattoo that was growing, unlike demons, this was a symbol of a dragon’s strength that had bound to a human. When a lesser dragon bound to a human ascended to the ranks of real dragons, even if a lesser status kind, this tattoo would appear on their body. It would slowly reveal the degree of strength the dragon had and potential as well as its type some type or race.

ROAR!

Suddenly, to the shock of both young man and elder, Frost covered Tryus’s body while it’s body inside began to shine blue like a flame.

“What is going on?” Rufus asked.

In seconds, bolts of lightning began from the instability of chaos began to come off Tryus’s body.

“The Dragon Core is forming while causing chaos! Don’t tell me it is going to become some kind of Chaos Dragon!?” the elder said standing. He instantly pulled out his wand and from it countless lights shot out and hit the ground around the magic formation creating a bright barrier when a magic formation was formed.

ROAR!

A more powerful roar came as the frost shell broke and a blizzard burst but the body of the drake had turned into blazing blue flames. It was like cold flames but the flames released a great deal of chaotic turbulence.

“Can Univa handle this?!” Rufus asked when he suddenly remembered his sister was circling all the same mana and instantly looked at her.

To his shock, a circle of fire and ice was floating around her unexpectedly.

Slowly they would overlap but break off release large shockwaves and electrical discharges.

“It must be because she did not destroy the Blizzard Breath.” The elder said.

“But sir, this shouldn’t have caused too much of a difference.” Rufus said.

The elder shook his head not understanding but he felt it, the energy from the chaos turbulence forming mana inside both their bodies but this chaos allowed fire and ice to slowly merge more.

The blizzard was getting smaller while the flames stronger while around Univa the rejection was getting weaker as the two opposites grew more stable with each other.

The elder knew that this was rather big. He set up a barrier around Univa, it was already too late to back out of it, and a breakthrough starts to happen there is no stepping back, not to mention a natural break through like this that is many times better than a forced breakthrough.

All the males of the Null family have all felt the result of a forced breakthrough as it leaves them unconscious and injured.

He just watched to see what was going on. From the drake, its body was burning and freezing erratically as the two elements slowly mixed but Univa was slowly closing the gap.

Bang! Bang! SHEEE!

When finally there was no rejection the circle of elements began to grind. In between them was a chaotic energy slowly forming releasing tremendous heat and energy from the merging of the opposite energies.

Slowly they pushed more forming a net of chaotic electric energy that wrapped the circles trying to find stability. Univa did not even feel it as her body naturally flowed the mana in her body and into Tryus.

CHA!

Suddenly all the lightning, fire and ice vanished and what was once a turbulence had become nothing more than a line of intense concentrated heat. Around Tryus, the same happened, an awe inspiring energy of heat be it a freezing heat or a burning heat it slowly began to find a balance in the chaos and was sucked into the body of the two.

Tryus opened his jaw, suddenly the chaotic distortion like before appeared but this time the electric chaos appeared only for a short while before breaking down causing a spatial ball to appear but from it an intense heat was spreading out.

“Impossible! It has mastered a Chaos Spell!” The elder shouted before the drake aimed down and shot the ball that hit the ground and suddenly all sound disappeared as the first barrier broke before it was stopped by the elder’s barrier but even so the immense energy was released. Tryus roared as his body was torn to shred but in his chest, the dragon core that was half formed cracked and broke but was not recalled. Instead it was bathed in the chaos and began to float up and form into a complete 20 cm circular gemstone as it completely absorbed this chaotic heat inside containing this chaos inside.

Then slowly the mana was expelled and began to form bones, nerves, organs, muscles and finally the skin and scales. What was amazing was that the Dragon was 18 meters long, full four legs, it had a few horns crowning its head. The scales were bright blue like the sky. The two wings were as long as it’s body each. It barely fit in the barrier but it growled and roared a true dragon’s roar as it’s complete dragon aura burst forth with majesty.

“This… this is a Chaos Type Dragon… a Lesser Sapphire Heat Dragon.” The elder said in shock before a sweat appeared on his head and a grin accompanied as he looked at the Young girl who was slowly opening her eye. The power to hold Chaos of Heat was immense. The elder smiled and laughed, “Child, go fetch your father.” the elder said ignoring the ranking and sent Rufus while calling him child instead of young master like common. This was due to the shock that he did not notice. He only thought of the girl as the highest authority now. A Chaos Dragon was a very rare existence. It isn’t easy to create creatures of opposing nature. Such creature are anomaly with power beyond their level.

Ashley, Night, Tryus, these three were all in one way a Chaotic existence. Now it was impossible for the Crost to not pay attention to Univa with such a dragon.

The girl stood up and looked a Tryus and walked over as he bent over to let her pet him. Even if she was as such her thoughts were somewhere else, “Now I caught up… maybe.” She thought before blushing and feeling her heart beat rise and her cheeks burn.

She shook her head as she scratched the scar under his chin making him hum in pleasure just like he did when she first acquired him. Even if his form had changed it had not affected the being he was, the cute little dragon that liked having the small scar under his chin scratched.

***

“Ahahahaha! These swords are so beautiful!” Ashley said as she admired the several hundred magic swords made of Wyrm bone. “Nature Wyrm bone swords really are a different thing to common wood.” She said while swinging the sword raising a strong gust before nodding and putting the sword back into the bone it had come from.

Strangely, different bones resulted in different sword types from something like a pocket knife sized sword from small joint bones to a large great sword from the skull.

After she checked them all, she separated the swords by type and size with the max per pile being 30. With more 900 vertebra, double that in ribs and a few other kinds of bones, there were at least 90 piles of bones that Xero could see but he lost count.

An entire space next to the dormitory had to be isolated so that they could work these bones properly. Finally when the last pile was made, she smiled.

“We are going to have all type of swords now from smallsword, short sword, long sword, Katana and variants of it’s kind and greatsword.” She said gleefully as she told her earth minions to cover the piles.

One by one they were covered and she put a sword spirit into each pile. The result was just like the dragon bones that Grunt had. It formed into a white bone shell of different sizes depending on the bones. There were really small ones while others were larger. As each landed, the mana surged towards it like a drain making the area slowly less dense as mana fell into this area like a pit.

“Alright master, it seems because there is so much mana, it will take only one week for all the swords to be ready. Because there is so much mana there won’t be a problem if master touches the ‘dragon egg’ and add spells. The mana they gather will be easiest to use during this time.” She said.

“Okay, thanks Ashley, I think I will take some of the long sword types as wood controllers.” Xero said. He marked 10 of them that were long swords and sat in front while he began to put down all the sequences and wood control formulas he knew. He then began to expand, the wood control had been something that was lacking greatly and it impaired the quality of the wood products.

Just as he was getting ready he felt the ground shake and he saw Ashley with the Winged Viper corpse and taking the Wood minions and spirit swords, she stabbed it all over the body so that they could start to feed of its bodies mana and nutrients like parasites.

Focusing, he began the first of many magical experiments which he would even use to teach the 15 students under his command later on.
