The evening was approaching as I was sitting in the center of the warehouse and using accelerated growth in meditation state to force the seeds inside the pots to “mature”. Basically, I was violating nature today – first creating life out of nowhere, now boosting it’s growth, so it will reach “maturity” within a day… which should take a season.

So, let me correct the first sentence. I am sitting in the center of warehouse using accelerated growth on the herbs, desperately trying to prevent my body and mind from collapsing.

“Do you think, he is going to be all right?” I heard concerned voice “Just look how pale he is…” “I heard, that such things happens when mage is bringing his body to the limits over and over again… normally he should have passed out, but as he is taking small breaks just before that…” “Is it safe?” “I heard, that its not” “Not?!”

NOT?! What do you mean, that it is not safe!? Oy! Tell me your source right away!

“Does he have… a nosebleed?”

I do what?! Wait, I indeed feel something warm on my face…. Crap…

“Should we stop him?”

That would be pretty helpful, you know? I would look like I’m someone so devoted to there work, that I need to be stopped to prevent hurting himself… yes, if you would come to me right now, I would still protect some of my dignity…

“… No, let’s leave him be. He is a mage, he probably did it a thousand times. We can only anger him for melding into his job… He knows his limits best.”

Well. Fuck me… Just a few minutes longer, then… is my body shaking?

The door was opened as someone stepped inside.

“How is the work goi…” Rogue probably came to check how to work was progressing “What the fuck is going on here!? Can’t you see he is haveing seizure?!”

I opened my eyes

“It’s not THAT bad, you know?” I asked weakly while I tried to get up. I failed and landed back on my bum “…. But I could put in the use of a helping hand, right now…” “Tsh, I thought you were more responsible… Do you have no respect toward your body?!” Aww, now – that’s sweet, isn’t it? “If something would happen to you… where would I have to look for another mad alchemist to carry on the organization?” “Asshole”

He only chuckled as he helped me to stand up.

“Now, take it easy… what’s gotten into you? On one hand, I am happy to see you are a the hardworking type… on the other… Try to think from now onward. And no physical labor.” “When you use magic like that… The feeling of time is a little bit… bent. You do not know if you were using it for 5 hours or 5 days. So a little supervision could come handy. I asked your men to bring me a few things… are they here yet?” “Those leather strips? Yes. Feel free to tell me why do you need them. You want to teach every single worker to do his part of the job personally? You will have five students, and each of them would be responsible for a group of workers. And, as we would expand our “activity”… they will be in charge of those facilities… Well, we two will still be in charge of whole company… I need to ask, are you sure, do you feel well?” “I need a good night’s sleep. Now, can I proceed to create those hex bags?” “No. You will do it tomorrow. You are going to come here anyway, and those plant are not going anywhere…” “I wouldn’t be so sure about that… I hope I didn’t make them carnivores…” “You did WHAT?!” “A…anyway, if any of your men would notice them moving in a not exactly natural way… just run away and burn the building.” “You are joking, right?” “You will never know… But, if you already kicking me out of MY laboratory… I will gladly do so… see you tomorrow.” “Didn’t you forget about something?

As he asked, he pointed in direction where few workers were filling pretty big baskets with herbs. That’s right – a quest.

“Aren’t those baskets… a lil’ bit to big?”

They definitely were. The whole construction looked like a backpack made of two human sized baskets tied to each other on strips, so you could literally tie them to yourself.

“I thought, that we should grant you what is yours… I was thinking: hey, he is a grown up man! He surely will be strong enough to carry those, and smart enough to NOT EXHAUST himself to the verge of collapsing…”

Ha-ha. I am almost sure this is not the case. But fear not Rogue, I got my lesson. From now onward I will not do everything here half-assed.

I don’t remember, how I get back to the guild. I only remember the agonizing march filled with pain and regrets. The boys from Syndicate were actually kind enough to escort me a small distance.

“Hey Zari! Where have you been for all day? Are those herbs in those baskets? Where the hell did you found a places with so many… hey, are you listening to me? Hey! It is not nice to ignore someone wh… why are you so pale? Do you feel right? D…”

The sound of a slammed door was the only answer I gave that day. Will they be nice enough to actually count those baskets I left in the lobby as finishing a quest?

That’s all for now. I know chappy is pretty short and not that entertaining… but I still have lot’s of work to be done. Yet I can promise you, that from now onward I will try to release chappy every day or two (short one, but hey! It’s something!)
